    This was such a beautiful video. Classic early 90's editing, and the legendary era of the mullet. Just a real pleasure to watch, ya know?

    I miss those late-80's/early-90's jerseys they had. I also miss the old Hull & Oates line, or the Hull Street Blues! Geez, we had some good teams back then...

    Never really got over him turning his back on Canada, but he was the best quote in the NHL for quite some time. There’s no doubt about it. He was Gary Bettman’s worst nightmare with a mic in his face!

    Growing up a hockey fan as a kid in the late 80s and 90s I did not know much about Brett Hull as I grew up in the Boston area and Hockey was much more regionalized and obviously no social media. I never realized how humble he was. I definitely have a new appreciation for this guy

      Pretty good. Needs to get his facts straight. Hull is Canadian...

    • @MrTCHOSS
      @MrTCHOSS 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tomgeoghegan9173 Hull considered himself both because Team Canada snubbed him and Team USA invited him to play. From that point forward Hull considered himself American and played for Team USA

    • @tomgeoghegan9173
      @tomgeoghegan9173 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrTCHOSS Correct. Tram Canada snubbed him. Your last sentence makes no sense. He's born in Canada. Dad's side of family Canadian. America via mother.

    • @MrTCHOSS
      @MrTCHOSS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomgeoghegan9173 During this particular time period (1990-91), Hull was still sore about the Canada snub. He called himself an American during that time period. He may have softened since then, but it would have been perfectly fine for Ken Wilson to say that. It was something Hull wore as a chip on his shoulder for those first few years of his career

    I turned 7 at the end of the 90/91 season and lived in St. Louis. To say that Brett Hull was a hero on the playground would be a massive understatement. I just assumed he would be going 50/50 for years to come.

    Did anyone ever notice in old sports clips the majority of the fans are wearing regular clothes and not their team colors or jerseys? I wonder why merchandise wasn't marketed as much back then.

    • @rainfully
      @rainfully 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Back then you could pretty much only buy merch at the games, and they had no where near the selection they do now. The internet definitely helped too.

    Thanks mostly to the players union, the NHL draft is now only 7 rounds, where it used to be 12 and some years 20 plus. It's incredible to think that despite Brett Hull's obvious talent for shooting and scoring that he was drafted in the 6th round. It pains me to think how many great talents we are being robbed of because of the inability of NHL clubs to stop over emphasizing their first round picks while underrating anyone taken in the later rounds. I honestly wonder if there will ever be another hall of fame player who was never drafted, or drafted late like Hasek and Robitaille etc.

    I'm no NHL fan but I just wanted to buy a jersey to make a cool outfit cause what gives, right? Ended up falling in love with the '98 Blues jersey on ebay cause nice colors and everything, 'HULL #16' on the back, never heard that name before I only know Jagr, Gretzky and Ovechkin.
    Watching this video I'm so happy I had that impulse cause now I own a jersey of one of the all-time greats. Unfortunately I never saw him playing but I watched 4 games yesterday - starting with the Blues game.
    Could be the start of something special, idk...
