malls today are not as cosy as what they were. Especially during the holidays.. It was magical during the late 90s and early 2000s when I was a kid.. nowadays everybody is glued to their phones. They don’t even know where they’re going. They bump into me all the time.
I was 18 in 98 at this time about to graduate from high school was on my way to college both my parents my aunt many older cousins I have were still alive. Watching this really teleports me back to a much simpler time I was so young and inexperienced I had no clue how much my life would change just two years after this. What a great and exciting time in my life 1998.
If there was a time machine for me to leave this damned era of Today to here on this video from ‘98, it would be awesome and it would be my best day ever completely and just stay there
And i wish there was a Time Stoppage Mode or its just an imagination power for me to use to stop that time from moving forward towards this damned era and just stay in the past and not move forward

I think the thing that makes watching these old clips so hard is knowing at that time in my life almost everyone I held dear is now dead. That’s what makes me so nostalgic is wishing I could go back to this time and be with all my favorite people now deceased

Wow, crazy to see this mall how it was in the first year of its existence. I went to the soft opening of this mall back in late 1997 with my brother. So crazy to see it how it was back then again. It was so packed, you couldn't even find a parking spot. I could have been walking around this mall as a 22 yr old when this footage was taken :). Too bad it ruined the nearby Nanuet Mall. Unfortunately, most stores in Palisades are replaced with entertainment games like VR or arcades (there isn't that many clothing stores left and I even heard they got rid of the carousel). JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, and now Bed, Bath, and Beyond are all permanently closed. Macy's and Best Buy (along witH BJ's and Home Depot) managed to make it for over 20 years.

I'm here very often, so it's really cool to see how it used to look. Specifically the shot at 27:10 I got a picture of to compare, and it's almost exactly the same with Johnny Rockets and Nathan's still there, but the Climb Adventure thingy is in the way lmfao. And of course the lighting is so much different. But yeah I love the Palisades Mall. It's been surprisingly busy and alive again lately

That is what it was like shopping at Madison Square Mall here in Huntsville, AL back in the 90s. I miss that mall. It was demolished in 2017 to make way for a newer outdoor venue and park called Mid City District. Palisades reminds me of Opry Mills Mall in Nashville or Cool Springs Galleria a bit. The way the floor layout looks.

Back then, May Department Stores like Filene's (Boston MA based) existed. Since 2006, the Filene's store in Palisades Center Mall is now Macy's after the chain bought out May Department Stores Company in 2005.

The cameras were cam corders and were pretty big not small like phones or vlogging cameras. People were more chill in 90s. If we filmed them shopping today they would get mad lol. I feel they were more polite back then

1998, age 26. I never went to this mall, but it sure looked nice. Malls are an adventure; you can find anything and yet discover something you've never seen. It's comfortable, relaxing and fun. I still go to my local malls but mainly shop at the anchor stores.
acrylic sweater *on sale* was 20 bucks. that means originally it was probably around 30, of course we can't be sure but let's just guess. currently you can buy an acrylic sweater in fast fashion stores for 20-30 bucks regularly, maybe 10-20 on sale. isn't it crazy how the prices of fast fashion have stayed the same or gone down, while everything else has gone up? just shows how these companies are really the shadiest of all...
I love the 90s too, but let's be realistic: half of all wildlife is gone, and we've decimated 7 out of 9 planetary boundaries. This overconsumption, though it looks cute, is the reason why. We won't improve as a species until we can be completely objective about ourselves.

You all remember the Nickelodeon Store on the third floor by the Store of Knowledge?? I have a Rocko stuffy that was sold there.
That shirt design with the horizontal line was the standard young guy uniform in 1998.
