The white stripes are the perfect mix of blues/rock/punk def one of the greats and they do it all without a bass guitar and auto tune. who doesn't love that swampy rawness of punk blues.
Meg was married to Jack from 1996 to 2000 he took her last name. The brother and sister story came from them to keep the public out of their private life
The first time I heard this song was about five or six years ago. I was hanging out with my best friend and I was playing the first white stripes record and he goes “dude, you have to turn on ball and biscuit after this. It’s killer” so I put it in the queue. The song came on and I had to pull into the first parking lot I saw so that I could just soak it in. Definitely one of my all time favorite white stripes songs.
The White Stripes are amazing… Jack has been or joined so many bands… his talent is unmatched, imo. They’re from Detroit. They’ve been around since the late 90’s and got pretty big in 2002-2003. I was in hs and college so they’re THAT band for me.
Jack White wrote this as a fun thing about being the seventh son. According to legend, the seventh son of the seventh son was supposed to possess extraordinary abilities. That is why the narrator of the song is so cocky😅
I'm getting evicted and I listened to this on loop and I got SO much done in a night. Dancing and grooving with the broom and the mop. Even my dog got in on it. Try it next time you're doing any kind of chore.
So the story goes that Meg (the drummer) had not played any instrument before the White Strips. Jack taught her the basics and then did not want her to practice. So she just winged it. Over the years the arm chain drummer would criticize her to death about timing and how "simple" her drumming was. When the band spilt she dropped off the radar. Since the White Stripes stopped performing she has only came out on stage one time and that was to play on Conan O'Brian last show.
Jack White is a outstanding guitar player, very highly respected in the music business!! His wife is the drummer, the only two in the band!!’ From Detroit
There's a rich vein of White Stripes to discover. Keep digging! The Big Three Killed My Baby for a great early song. Death Letter for more blues. Icky Thump. You Don't Know What Love Is. Their first hit was Fell In Love With A Girl. Also with guitarist/vocalist Jack White, try The Dead Weather's "Treat Me Like Your Mother", and Raconteurs' "Steady As She Goes" and "Carolina Drama".
Thank you for picking this song to react to from them. Listen to the "Live at Argon Theatre" version if you want to hear some of Jack's best guitar solo's ever
The white stripes are amazing I'm surprised you never heard of them I feel like everyone knows at least seven nation army... Jack white is a genius and does a good job keeping good rock music alive and well... I recommend anything jack white to anybody looking for good music... My favorite stripes albums are white blood cells and probably De stijl
The nodding your head comment is so true.
Glad you love the White Stripes. They're a pretty special little gem 💎
All of the album Ball and Biscuit is on, Elephant, is recorded on equipment pre-1964. No computers involved. Just pure talent.
Meg never misses a beat. Restrained talent.

In fact the dumming in this song is so simple, but... SO EFFECTIVE!

This song is one of their best and I saw Jack White perform it live in Prague in 2022 in Forum Karlin with Daru Jones on drums and it was sublime 🎉

A masterful two piece band.
Bluesy goodness. So pretty and hits.
Jack White. One fine guitarist and his sister is the drummer. They were the White Stripes. Awesome duo.
Sorry friend, that was debunked…. They said they were siblings.. turns out they were married before though 😂 weird thing to lie about though.
Correction, that was his wife.

@reencampbell4481 it was to keep the press out of their business. I find it funny. Everyone in Detroit knows how they met. I'm a Detroiter too.
Jack White remakes alot of old blues tracks
There’s a song called jezebel stomp by black pistol fire that you should check out!
We Are Going To Be Friends is an excellent, quieter, song from this group. ☮💜
Ha, easily my least favorite White Stripes song.
You and I are gonna be friends simply for your comment. So, what up, homie! Peace be unto you and yours this year!
