Another great video - clear, concise, well produced and informative. Looking forward to more - I'd love to see some beginner's guides for how to weave some simple baskets and what materials are needed, willow lengths, etc. Also some tips on soaking, and preparing/selecting the willow. Thank you for your time and effort to produce these videos, it's greatly appreciated!
+memoryweaver Thank you for your kind words and feedback. We are currently producing a series of videos aimed at the very basics of weaving,so I hope that they tie in with your suggestions. Thanks again for your encouraging comments,it is very much appreciated.
Thanks for the easy to understand video. I have made my 1st ribbed basked after watching. In South Australia, so I used blackberry bramble canes and weeping willow branches. Subscribed so I'll be watching more videos for my next project !
I find myself quite fascinated by this video; I must have watched it a dozen times. There isn't much willow here in Florida. I ordered a few pounds of reeds. When they arrive I plan on trying to make one.
Brill, East to follow.....not too faffy like some. I've subscribed so please keep them coming. I assume you always use an odd number to keep the weaving alternating like normal ribbed baskets?
Subscribed! Thank you so much. Fabulous video, clear, calm, fascinating - I came here from making pine-needle baskets in lockdown and this video has inspired me to start bigger baskets - my dream is to be able to make Bourginon baskets (they look similar to your baskets here but with longer/shorter ribs so they look a bit like a bottom and stop the mushrooms rolling around) for my (adult) children to collect wild mushrroms (instead of our usual plastic bags). Thank you again for a lovely video
Thanks Guy, I have a video tutorial about making a frame basket which could be adapted to the Bourginon basket. Check it out here vimeo.com/ondemand/framebasket
this is a dying art among my people...the ojibwa...watching your videos, are super helpful, in revitalizing this old , and necessary practice..thank you
Thank you for the very well done tutorial. Are you familiar with the Catalan base I think its called starting with a circle with two sets of short canes crossing and weavers that stop after a third pass? I would love to learn that one.
+Carol C Hi Carol. Thanks for your kind comment. I am familiar with a Catalan base. I will produce a short video for that in the not too distant future. Keep intouch, Brendan
Could you do a video on the willow spirals/flowers like Mandy Coates makes? They start with four rods in holes in a jig that make a square and then fold over. I'm not sure much more than that. Thanks!
Hi, nice shaped basket. Is any other weave possible with it? And alternating the big hoops and little hoops- would you do that for a bigger basket with more hoops ? Thanks
the music in this video... dude the percussion was just overbearing and wildly out of place. You're in a calm woodshed, practicing a quiet craft, you have a low voice, and yet 3/4s of the video is maligned by the horrendous synthesized strings electronica with drums.
Thank you so much! I'm wanting to learn basket weaving. God bless you and TH-cam!
Wow, so nice!!! Thank you for teaching.
Oh this is beautiful. An egg basket. and it's shaped like a hen, lovely and you make it look so easy. Thankyou.xx

bobby bowker don’t try flying off a cliff,or too close to the sun....that’s my 2 cents!🤣🤣

😒 this is his video, not yours. So he can do as he pleases. Make your own video with different music if it's so bothersome
