I was searching the web for this song and found one site and the chords were completely wrong it sounded nothing like the song. Then came across your site now it sounds right. Now I just need to learn how to play this. A lot of the chords are new to me but i will eventually get it. Thanks
Love your materbuilt I have the dreadnaught version but wish I had that one has the wider nut. I have a cort c5 wester style classical and love the 45mm string spacing
That Masterbilt sounds great, and looks pretty nice too. Better than a lot of their demos for them on You Tube actually. Aubry is a good one. I often wonder how many girls are named after songs. Then you had their out of the norm heavy rocker - " Mother Freedom". Very good vocal technique with that singer. Nicely crafted catchy songs. It's all there.
E9sus4 is also a correct name for this chord however, in sessions, most people write this chord out as an E11 and just omit the 3 and 5. Both names are correct. I talk about this alot on my channel how jazz miusicians will always refer to this as a E9sus4 while doing sessions it was always listed as an E11. As far as the Bm after the Amaj7, yes that is the name. I never call it Gmaj7, I just say it moves a whole step down, i am referring to the chord and the position on how to play the chord, not the name of the chord. Once the verse starts I explain its a Bm.
Not to beat a dead horse. But here is Nile Rodgers and when he explains Everybody Dance, you will see he too, calls what you would call a Bb9sus4, a Bb11. It's just a common name when charting and also looking at the chord because we see it as a Bb in the bass with the 7,9,11 extension even though the 3 and 5 is omitted.
Thanks for your video. Saved me a lot of headache and time learning a song I really loved from the 70's!!! Quick question... On the lyrics "You taught me why" I see you playing an A, Bm7 to the E11, and the other variation, but when I went back to the original I am hearing an A#dim7 (which lowered would have been Adim7) on the words "You" and "taught". Are there different versions?
Great ear. I do these songs after playing them so long. I just listened. The bass is actually playing A# A#, B, E . The guitar is playing F#+, F#, Bm7, E11. It sounds like both guitars are playing something different.
I would have never picked that out as an added chordal tone. I figured it was just functioning as a passing tone between the two chords. It's a shame such a great song has such low views. I just noticed you never covered If by Bread. It also has an 11 chord in it.
Great lesson Dave, really enjoy your playing, wish I had your chops. Dont know if this song is a style you play, but have you ever played classical gas or even Greensleeves. A old friend of mine played versions of those songs that were really nice
Thanks Dave! You're the most accurate teacher on TH-cam. You nail all the oddly nuanced chords.
What a great version Dave, thanks so much. Your playing is so smooth and accurate.

Thanks Dave. What great explanations of the chord shapes & sounds. We love Bread. (I obvioulsy grew up in the seventies.)

você FALA DEMAIS
Omg Charles Nelson Reilly at the end 😂😂
Maybe consider the possibility that it's
Bbdim7 Bm7 E11sus2
You taught me why
Twas what my humble ear picks up
Nice lesson. But Is the second chord G maj 7? Isnt it B minor after Amaj7. Also Is it E7 sus4 instead of E 11 as you teach?
Thanks

@@DavesGuitarChannel So cool. Thanks. I really couldn't tell exactly what I was hearing there. Love your vids. Always very helpful!

the note that you said is A major 7 , another instructor called it a C#m.. I'm confused.
Amaj7 is a C#m with an A in the bass. The A string is open and I'm right and the other instructor is wrong. Just sayin'
@@DavesGuitarChannelokay, thanks for clarifying!
Bro thank ü for your tutorial
Avengers End game, the new Banner/Hulk plays shit hot guitar

A lot of people like David Gates and Bread. They're just too cool to admit it publicly.
The lesson is good... more... the tatoo is "the best" ...
Por favor, hágalo fluido, no es necesario hablar tanto, solo muestre los acordes.
Demasiado blablabla
