For you don't need to clean so many times you can use a print 3D, if you know someone that have one, to do a custom size tray...
I'm starting to watch your videos, I'm enjoying it. Great work!

Hello Joe, sorry for asking but why you don't use the lens to contact print. And use just a difuser or a white paper in front of the lens. Cheers and I hope to see more 👍

by the way, what is your opinion on mono baths for afghan box cameras? I've seen recepies for paper as well and am interested

I’ve only read about mono baths, the process sounds like it has a narrow sweet spot. But it would simplify camera design to have one tray. Also, for use out on the streets you want the chemicals to last through repeated sessions, I’m not sure if a mono bath would be more like a one-shot.

I talked to Dave Walker (@davethewalker80 on IG) on the Homemade Camera Podcast yesterday morning when we recorded. He says that it's possible, but impractical. We go into it a bit on the next episode. Really interesting bit of tests he did. I think it should be out in the next few weeks. it will be called E47 - Dave Walker

I've seen at least two examples I think. here's one on flickr www.flickr.com/groups/monobath/discuss/72157682667035383/ just mixing ready products like developer and fixer would be easier of course but doing it chemical by chemical like this gives more control.

    Hey Joe,
As usual you've created a really neat device. Am really impressed with it.
One question: is it the length of the box that prevented making an enlarged print by the usual copy method?
Just curious, you know me and enlarging paper negatives, LOL!

I'm surprised that you chose copper for those chemical bath trays. Did you consider having some plastic ones made on 3D printer? Also, why not use an LED instead of an incandescent bulb? Nonetheless, given that you chose incandescent, surely an E10 base bulb and socket would be far neater than the cobbled-together arrangement you arrived at. Maybe there's some rule of primitive construction that I'm not aware of?

No rule, except to use what you have around the house, or wait days for something to ship. Yes, plastic tanks would be nice, but I can make these very easily. A white LED would work, but you've have to use a set of blue and green LEDs for optimal contrast control. As it is, I already had the incandescent bulb on hand. And I use incandescent in my darkroom enlarger, so I'm used to it.
There is a philosophy (or practice) of primitive construction with many of these kinds of cameras built around the world, I felt it'd be out of place to violate that spirit of simplicity by over-engineering. Embrace the simple!

When we can go out of the house again, If the trays are rusty, I am going to insist on laser cutting Joe some acrylic trays. Less stylish than the copper ones for sure, but when all I have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
