Custom Schindler 5500 glass elevators - Beijing Daxing International Airport, CN

A historical moment: you see the first and the only post on my page from China! And here are the lifts in the biggest airport terminal in the world, which you have probably never heard of.
Beijing Daxing International Airport is a big project designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. It consists of a insanely huge single terminal with five wings and beautiful architecture. I've had transfer in this airport for three times already, but in July 2024, when I came back home from Korea, I maganed to get to its landside and officially enter China with transit visa for a day. So, here it the result.
Chinese Schindler installed more than two hundred elevators in the building. Some of fourteen custom-made 5500s, installed at the entrance, are shown in this post. They can fit up to 40 persons, they are in fully glass shafts and they have unique combination of fixtures: huge touchscreens, touchless and regular D-Line buttons. Both English and Chinese voiceovers were installed in all the airport's elevators. In total, these lifts have some cool vibes and it's hard to describe with the text: just watch the video.
Schindler has several articles on this work on their website. It's no wonder that this project was named as "Elevator project of the Year" in 2020! I am glad that I was able to visit the landslide of this airport and expolre Beijing city for a few hours. It is also cool though
