    Mangosteen is a Konkan fruit it's called "KOKAM" the white part is eaten and it's cover is dried and used in foods to get a sour taste.

    The tomato looking fruit Persimon is known as Ramfal in Himachal and easily available in Manali and nearby areas and is very cheap..like 30-40/kg and easily available for 100/kg in delhi

    Cut and open the top part..
    Mix the pulpy part with sugar and stir it with a spoon...and have it with spoon...it tastes good..
    Come to Kerala...will give it for free..
    Also, Rambutan and Mangosteen too are way cheaper here than the prices shown ...

      Lol, they are not mild. They are either sweet or have a raw banana effect on your palate. god knows what they were describing. that raw papaya parallel was close to an unripe persimmon.

    Here in Kerala Passion fruit used to fall to the ground and rot until a couple of years ago.. when somebody invented the passion fruit squash.. these fruits sell for 5 to 10rs per peice in the munnar region..

    Mangosteen is kokum and it is staple in Konkani and Goan households we also have a mangosteen tree in our garden !! We have kokum sarbet komkum curry “solkadi” (digestive) and we use it in fish curry

      Although from the same family, mangosteen is a nicer version of kokum. its sweeter and fleshier with a very nice flavor.. how do I know - I have both kokum and mangosteen trees at home..

    Persimmon used here is unripe.. it must be eaten only when ripe, it turns deep orange/yellow... unripe ones don't taste good.

    We call persimmon 🤩JAPANI FALL here in himachal pradesh we grow it here , along with appples and pears
