So much to learn, so little time. I should have listened to my high school band director back in the 60s when he tried to get me to switch from trombone to double bass. He rattled off some names that meant nothing to me back then, Chambers, Mingus, Brown, among others. Would have been ahead the game.😕 Thanks for helping me make up for lost time.👍🏿

A friend has an incredible historic bass. A while back he bought a cheap Chinese bass, which I could hardly play. When my friend, who is a great player, plays his CCB, it sounds amazingly like his fine old bass.

The only video I’ve seen on TH-cam that actually explains the difference between orchestral and jazz plucking. Though I know both it’s nice to see a video actually explain it. Well done

This is splendid advice. I've recently picked up double bass after years playing electric and, while I'm getting good sounds, I've worried I'm doing it "wrong". I'm just gonna keep at it, now it has stopped hurting after 5 mins practise! X

I will go find that teacher!. In the mean time, sorry sir....your it! Helping me overcome the fear over a walking bass line is a major hurdle, so "check,s in the mail" lol

@pdbass - out of curiosity, what is the make of your bass? I've been watching your vids for the last few months as a new double bassist and think the ornamental border of the body is very cool

Thx. It’s a Pöllmann. 1972. They used to hand carve purfling on their basses. Patitucci plays one!
