I wish the evidence of crimes committed against my foremothers didn’t appear in my skin. BUT, since it does and white society finds me more “palatable” I have a responsibility to use that palatabilty to the advantage of my people as a whole. It can’t be no other way!

I’ve been called a white monkey by dark skinned ppl and was bullied all through elementary school because I’m light skinned and I lived in the hood. I still get references to being “high-yellow” and not black enough because of it like i chose my skin color. Colorism goes both ways. And in terms of being bullied for features, you best believe they took every shot they could at these plump black lips lol If you say you treat me badly because white ppl “prefer” me, how is that fair or any different than what they do to us?
@@camk9332 High-yellow is and never has been a negative term. If anything, its been a compliment. Also, getting made fun of for you lips has nothing to do with your skin tone. Also, also colorism is does go both way but its an ism that speaks to how lighter skin is preferred or viewed as more beautiful. Yes, what you experienced in elementary school was wrong but are you still experiencing that today? Are people choosing not to date you, hire you, or assume your bitter/mean/loud/ratchet or jealous all because youre lighter skinned?
