The Genesis/Megadrive had more rock/metal-oriented songs, with more aggressive beats and overall sound. That's why it's much more fit for fighting games than the SNES chip. Another good example is "The Dead Pool" from MK II. Just listen to those sick cuts in the drums for the Genesis version. No comparison.
@@hexagon1970 SNES soundtracks are childish. They put voices in MK2 but ruined the soundtracks. I prefer Sega Mega Drive 2 (Genesis) soundtracks with no voices. Living Forest beats wow awesome
It all depends on what you grew up on. I only had 1 friend who had a Genesis with an SNK fighter for it (3 or 4 friends had a Genesis, all of them got rid of them in favor of the SNES, or played their SNES consoles more), Fatal Fury. Myself, and many other friends had SNES consoles, and I'd rent an SNK fighter from time to time. Now I own all SNK fighters for Genesis, and just need Art of Fighting 2 for the Super Famicom to cover the 16 bit console.
It's better than FF2 on SNES, but FF Special (SNES) has better soundtracks, they're entirely new arranged and mixed. Some tracks sound even better than the MVS/AES originals imo.

This is my all time favorite version of Krauser's theme. Probably cuz it's the first one I ever heard. I love the SGEN soundtrack for Fatal Fury 2!
