In my nightmare, this is playing on the tv in the waiting room in a dentist's office where all I hear is loud off-key singing and muffled screams from the patients...
In the 80’s and early 99’s we were obsessed with this show on Manhattan Public Access. There were so many great, weird assed shows on it. I made a weird show for it as well.
In the opening theme song, one line ends with "for you," then the next line ends with "for you." They must have stayed up all night to come up with such deftly rhyming lyrics.
I wish we could find out how the people on this show are doing today (if they are still alive) and what they did with their talent and if their dreams came true in one way or another.
The performing arts is notoriously hard to earn a living wage from. But Susan Alfara had the voice and stage presence to make it! I can't find her anywhere on the internet; maybe she got married and raised three kids on Long Island. I hope she kept singing!
I'm tell'n ya... Stairway to Stardom was created by Frank, so that Frank could be a star!!! Sure he's the host, but he always tries to outshine the contestants when he does a song!? Why would the host sing songs too!? He upstages, and makes himself look as professional as possible, while outsinging the competition...🤷♂️❓️
First of all, they are not contestants. There's no contest, so there's no competition. Did you see any winners being declared on any episodes? Secondly, watch the Frank Masi interviews found on this TH-cam channel. He clearly explains that he started the show to promote himself, and at some point decided it would be nice to give other performers on-camera experience and a chance to be discovered by casting agents, etc. Have you ever watched an episode of The Glenn Campbell Show or The Tom Jones Show? Why was it okay for them to perform on their own shows when they also had guest performers on, but it's not okay for Frank?
@@nudnick ...first of all... I just think it's hilarious that you got all defensive, and bent outta shape over a 40+yr old low-budget, local cable show!?🤣✌️ 2nd of all... you pretty much said everything I did, except (excuse-me)I called them contestants... "upcoming wannabee's"? Whatever... I was just saying it's obvious that Frank, even tho he's the host...he wanted to outshine the "others"...
@@CURTEAR67 Like I replied above, I'm nudnick, the same guy that runs this channel. And I was not getting all defensive. You've posted this same comment, or some very close variation on 4 or 5 different episodes now. So if you don't think there's anything wrong with Frank performing on his own show, why do you keep rehashing the same blatantly obvious thing, and sometimes laughing about how clueless he must have been to think his stupid little cable show would ever be seen anywhere but in NYC?
When Frank’s head showed up on that piano, I about lost it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Susan Alfara is very listenable and watchable.
The Irish Tenor was best.
@@Novasterling It was close between Sue and the Irish Tenor. Susan by a mile.

Stairway To Stardom is The Citizen Kane of Public Access TV
😂😂😂😂😂
Very talented performers in this episode
this episode doesn't suck enough
LMAO!!!!

This show is on continuous repeat on every channel on every TV that can't be switched off in Hell

That was the cheapest and noisiest goddamned microphone with the windscreen clanking around and they used it in every episode for a decade.
Had to stink too.

So far this is the best episode I’ve come across, as far as talent goes. I’m actually surprised 😂
Both Susan and the guy singing Danny Boy where very good.
Micheal McGifford is incredible 😮
Susan was very good ! Thats just natural talent !! I hope she went further than this.
The Irish Tenor was best
Agreed.
This is a thread about Susan.
This is the fourth installment of STS I've watched since discovering it a few hours ago. This one caught me off guard -- it has some real talent.
3:58 😂😂😂 that head sitting on the keyboard 😂😂😂
At first glance I thought the first girl had a mustache and then realized it was her lipstick
In the opening theme song, one line ends with "for you," then the next line ends with "for you."

man thanks so much for continuing to upload full shows. Fucking priceless.
My pleasure! Now, every single full episode that has been saved from the dustbin of history and/or Frank Masi's spare room has been uploaded.
Thank you for this, I’ve been watching every one, I’m addicted to them.
Frank's interviewing Jonathan Kirby and he talks about himself the whole time.
Erica went up like she was forced at gun point.
Uncle Franks basement is terrifying
Susan's actually good! Damn good! She has the prettiest smile I've ever seen, too!
So is the Irish Tenor
@@Novasterling Susan.
Susan's on the wrong show~ She's too good~ haha~
The Tenor is good too
I agree the tenor was good also!
I'm here for Susan.
@@NovasterlingAre you the Irish tenor?? You comment every time someone praises Susan 🤔😂
Thank you for uploading this. I was said to myself that there was nothing to watch before clicking on this!!
I felt bad for the piano player - I don't think he expected the camera to focus on him.
How about some love for the Irish tenor?? Not bad at all!!
He was wonderful. Such a sad song and he sang it wonderfully.

Thanks for the new upload!!!
I laughed so hard this morning watching these videos that coffee came out of my nose
These are priceless!!! Thank you so much for the upload!!!💖
the audience clapping sounds like its from analog drum machine.
I wish we could find out how the people on this show are doing today (if they are still alive) and what they did with their talent and if their dreams came true in one way or another.
I googled the tenor, who I thought was quite good, and found out he died in 1994😢. He had an impressive career even before this show.
Same here. I love the heart and soul they had to get onto the show.
The performing arts is notoriously hard to earn a living wage from. But Susan Alfara had the voice and stage presence to make it! I can't find her anywhere on the internet; maybe she got married and raised three kids on Long Island. I hope she kept singing!
Get me Susan!!!
Priceless! I am hooked!
Frank just cuts off Tillie everytime she tries to talk. Susan managed to escape Frank’s gnarly grip at the end of the show
Ordition.
Priceless. Start to finish.
Just can't make them like this anymore
She gives Janice a run for her money on that summer time and those camera effects were so far ahead of their time
You've heard of Radio Head, but now introducing PIANO HEAD!
Great! Thank you.
Susan looks somewhat like Charlene
Staircase to Boredom 😩
I'm not gay but that piano player is a real looker!🙈

Susan was good
So was the Irish Tenor, tho
@@KTraska82 why ?

Wow Susan and the Irish tenor were both good. Hopefully,
they both continued working as singers.

Haunting.
Johnathan looked like Earth Wind and Fire 😅
I agree 😂
Frank reminds me of Regis Phibin
My dream performance is John Daker on STS
Howard come upstairs , your suppers ready! I can’t ma, still doin the show!
Tillie’s face looks much different on a TV screen than it does on the boardwalk in Asbury Park.
A strangely solid episode. With the slight exception of Erica, who seemed to want to yell her way through the song, I liked the group this time.
My day has been brydenned up already
Susan was amazing as was Ms Conroy Both sweet as pie too
So was the Tenor
@@MeadeSkeltonMusic So was Sue. I need to make a burner account for Susan.

Stardust song was great
The handling noise from Frank’s microphone makes me want to jump out a window.
Never heard of ice castles
It’s a sappy love story about a champion figure skater and she goes blind.
My liver just swelled 12 x it’s normal size listening to Michael McGifford
Production fee? So you had to pay to get on. Now it makes sense.
Get out while you can Danny boy!! He is singing again
