Interview Ludvic Muscat vs Gareth Spurs 04/04/08 Malta

MonteKristo Estates, with its imposing centre-piece chateau, was the prestigious setting for 'The battle of the Titans' organised by Trojan Promotions. The fourth of the fourth month brought us four pounding Maltese- English middle weight fights, with the main fight Ludvic Muscat vs Gareth (Sugar Boy) Spurs.
Starting with an punching appetizer featuring Ryan Kerr vs Martin Marshall. When experience meet young talent. The quick witted Marshall held it for 6 rounds. From the 1st round it was clear that the left jabbing Kerr dominated, Marshall throwing in some nice combinations and trying to provoke Kerr. In the 4th round Marshall seemed to bully Kerr, and gave him a hard time by running around the ring. Kerr kept his jabbing strong and consistent, and showed better fitness condition than Marshall. After the 6th and final round, it was Kerr that won this fight.
Ryan Kerr, who has his Boxing gym in St. Pauls Bay, trains with Ludvic Muscat and other promising names in Malta. As the organiser of this event, he brought the true sense of boxing alive.
The second fight of the evening, Jamie Ogier vs Wayn Crossley. The orange caped Jamie Ogier entered the ring full confidence. By entering the 1st round, it seemed Ogier had a hard time reaching the 20 cm taller Crossley. Ogier clearly being the attacker appeared to hit targetlessly. Crossley on the other hand, kept it a safe fight and just punched when the tiredness hit Ogier. A fourth round was called in to determine the winner and the almost passive but accurate puncher Crossley had to pass for the winner Jamie Ogier this fight.
A pre-mainevent light-weight fight Tony Vassalo vs Dexter Bianco. The white trunked Bianco kept this fight moving and alive. Showing serious signs of tiredness from the both fighters kept the 4th round decisive. A fair and balanced fight made Bianco won on unanimous decision.
The public all warmed up and ready for the 'Battle of the Titans'. The energy levels were high and emotions ran high by the start of this amazing fight.
Maltese Champion Ludvic Muscat recovered from his defeat against Scott Dixon in November and showed his determination in his fight against Gareth Sugar Boy Spurs. Was it due his fight less than a week before or Muscat's punch that broke his nose in the 1st round, Sugarboy ran out of gas. In perfect fitness shape Muscat took the hard hooks from his opponent which almost knocked him out in the second round. Sugarboys punches were a nonstop. In third round, Ludvic came strong and showed what he was made of. The audience caught by surprise when the towel was thrown into the ring at the sign of the end of the third round. This eight round fight ended in the third round when the towel was thrown in from Sugarboys corner. Making Ludvic Muscat the winner of the Battle of the Titans.
Gareth: I watched Ludvic on youtube, I believe if I had another 2 rounds I might have won on strength.
Ludvic Muscat: It is not how much you punch, but how much you punch good. It is soon time for me to let younger talent to follow my footsteps.
