Most male K Pop artists have brief youthful windows to shine and capture the public's imagination only to become historical artifacts at what for other kinds of artists would be very young ages. I think it is interesting how RM alludes to a imagining a beautiful fall from the start of his journey. I believe K Pop artists, particularly males, as they enter the field do so with a knowledge that their time of ascendancy will be short-lived, much like gymnasts. Idol music after all in part has been a corporate exploitation of youthful beauty, androgyny, and modeling. In the case of males, the period of military service most often tends to be exited with personality maturation and the desire for normal life alterations such as marriage and family. When RM speaks of replacing the fireworks with flowerworks, he insightful understands his future artistry will be less about the corporate Idol platform and more about expressions of his soul. He will embrace stepping outside the proscribed path that got him extraordinary notoriety to express as his own self. Hopefully he and other BTS members will return in more mature iterations with a renewed hunger but as I look at the post-discharge output of Big Bang members who were on top of the industry, I cannot say I am without trepidation. What existed before enlistment may not be a predicter of future artistic investment. Military enlistment is not a refreshing pause. There may be a real one after discharge with whatever long-term outcome to be determined no matter what we speculate about 2025.
Yay!! I'm so happy that you guys reacted to this! I had a feeling that you might really like it :) Something cool that was talked about in an interview on the Bangtantv channel is that Namjoon really wanted a specific producer, Docskim, to work with him on this song. Docskim has done a couple of other BTS songs in the past (Lie, which is a freaking masterpiece musically and I can't wait for you guys to hear it, and Outro: Tear). Docskim agreed to do it, but this was going to be his last song. He had decided to retire from producing. Docskim said that he promised Namjoon that he would work really hard on this last song and he wanted to keep that promise. What really touched me is that in the interview he said that working with Namjoon on this song reignited his passion for music, which he thought he had lost, and he changed his mind about retiring. He said that he hopes he and Namjoon can write more music together in the future. It was a really good interview (I think it's called Indigo Magazine or something like that). Anyways, hope you guys are feeling better. Borahae!
Here's the link to the interview that @Holly mentioned ... no need, imo, to react to it but it is very informative. The respect, artist to artist, is visible and very uplifting; BTS, even as individual members, be changin' lives! #ApoJoonpo th-cam.com/video/lRy8OYhLO-A/w-d-xo.html
The fact that Docskim produced Wild Flower, Lie and Outro: Tear means he should never, ever retire, IMO. Like, ever. 😆 Those are three of my favorite songs, and the production is gorgeous and unique on each of them. Definitely need more collabs between him and all the members.
Please react to the Indigo Magazine Interview. 💜 he explained everything about how the songs were made and what the songs meant. He did say he wants the songs to be relatable so he's also leaving it up for further interpretation. Watch the Magazine Interview please, he's such a genius. I cried so much at how deep this man is. Truly.
Also, every collaborators on his album was meticulously handpicked by Namjoon. He had a clear vision of who he wanted to be on the songs and they are all perfect fit.
The way you set up the screen with the MV kind of zoomed-in (at least that's how it looks to me) pulled me into the visuals even more... and it hit me again how beautiful it is that -- even after experiencing all that fame, money and success -- Namjoon places the most importance on "flower fields" and "open land" (and art and poetry, as reflected in the overall album). In other words, returning to his true self, the self that exists and grows only when you give it time in silence. He's such a beautiful human being in that way and a great leader -- really has his priorities straight and his feet on the ground, even though that level of fame could have swept them all up into the air with no landing in sight. And Youjeen's powerful vocals also made the song, complementing Joon's deep vocals perfectly. The aural and emotional pay-off towards the end is so satisfying too, with her voice going full force and his voice keeping it grounded. So powerful.
There’s no other word to describe Namjoon’s new album but a masterpiece. It is diverse in its genres and its collaborations. So far both he and Jhope have shown us that they’re only getting better and that they have so much more to show us. I hope you get a chance to listen to the entire album, in order, as Namjoon has asked us to. Thank you for this reaction. As usual, I appreciate learning something new from your perspective as musicians yourself. Looking forward to the next one 💜
Youjeen's voice just rip your heart out! It's sooo good!! This song is sooo beautiful. I knew you guys will love it! I love you guys' interpretation. Though it's different from what RM had explained, he also believes that once his song is out, it's not his anymore. It belongs to every listener's.
This is my favorite song on the album. YES, Youjeen's vocals make goosebumps for me. I feel like I'm flying free, soaring on sailing ship over the ocean.
I love this whole album. All the songs are good. Just want to mention that there is an mv for Still Life (which you probably already know) so I hope you check that one out. He did talk about what it means on his Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. My number one song on the Indigo album is the song Lonely. I hope you react to that one too. The lyrics and vibes of the song just hits me right off first listen.
i like your analysis i have never heard that version before. to me it was RM telling us how fame has made him think "who am i?" why am i doing this?" he want to find himself again. he want to be just like normal people lying in the field of purple flowers"armys" on the same level as them.
I admire Namjoon so much as an artist and as a person. He's really incredible. 👏🏻👏🏻 He mentioned that Wild Flower is a really precious song for him and that he was actually thinking in the words "flower works" since 2015/2016 and that this song was the one that took the most time to finish. Also, Youjeen's vocals take the song to another whole level! I got so many goosebumps when I watched the MV for the first time and not gonna lie I got so emotional when in the concert scene he says "I'll return someday" 😭💜.. Everything about this song is perfect and each song of Indigo is really good too! Indigo is a whole masterpiece and I'm not joking, the production and everything is just amazing. If you guys really liked his lyrics, then you are going to love the majority of his previous solo works and specially his playlist/mixtape 'Mono'. It's just another masterpiece and one of my favorites albums ever. The lyrics are so deep and listening to mono in order is a must! Idk if someone commented this before but I just wanted to mention that Namjoon is also known in Korea as "The Philosopher Who Raps" because of his beautiful lyrics and genius wordplay! I'm so proud of Namjoon and I respect the fact he shared all his worries and personal thoughts and feelings with the world with his honest and raw lyrics.. It's so brave. You can feel his emotions through his voice. That's why consider BTS real artists, because they are really involved and passionate about making their own craft. Each member sings with their hearts. 💜
Namjoon has always been incredibly amazing with his words and lyrics. Any time namjoon does his speeches for army, it never fails to make me cry. His words are powerful and very eloquent. This mv had me in tears from start to finish and literally ripped my heart into a million pieces and then gently sewn it back together. I could not stop crying. It's extremely beautiful and hit so hard. Docskim the producer worked very hard on this track. You can hear everyone who worked on this poured out their heart and sincerity. It makes me reflect on all the years namjoon has guided bts, stood by their side and maintained as the pillar without ever wavering for his team. I'm brought back to festa of this year and how the boys were able to express their worries and namjoon told us he lost himself and was exhausted. He needed space and so did the other members to find themselves again so they could continue to be happy and make army happy. I hope we can all treasure and respect this man and everything he's done for the team and for us. 💜💙 He carried a lot of burdens on his back as the leader. Thank you for listening and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on indigo as well.
One of the best songs of the year and the most beautiful MV I’ve seen. The amount of tears I’ve shed for this song yet it’s still hopeful. He’s the core pillar of BTS for a reason. We can see why 13 year old JK looked at him got a huge musical crush and immediately turned down all these bigger companies for him.
The album INDIGO is such a beautiful art .... the songs, the music videos everything about it so RM. After watched Magazine Interview and Zach Sang Interview.. I love and appreciated this album more. RM has done some performance with his new album... you can check that too. and everything.. again... is so RM who loves art so much..
The Indigo Magazine Film is a must watch. It's on their official channel. RM and the collaborators talked about the album and the backstory of each track.
RM's lyrical genius has always been prevalent in BTS discography and his solo works. I think it's a bit premature to say that his lyricism, wordplay and poetry is deeper now since you have not delved into their entire discography. In fact, I think he is as straight forward as he's ever been poetically. The ideas, thoughts and inspirations that strung Indigo together as an album will blow your minds. Indigo just like his Mono are forever etched in my brain
so happy with your reaction. Joon created this album in hopes to make at least ONE timeless track that any one person will keep in their long-time playlist forever. 🥺 Wildflower is definitely THAT SONG!
Wild Flower is my ultimate favorite release of 2022, and I'm not saying this just because RM is my bias. It truly is a such a beautiful song. Great reaction!
i really loved the image of him blooming like a flower who keeps coming back. because a fireworks last a minut and then it´s over. RM explained it but i didn´t really get it fully until you said it.
I am so proud and so happy that more and more people finally get see and hear what a musical mastermind Namjoon is. The full album is amazing!! All the collabs on this album are so carefully seeked out and they all are perfect! I loved your view of this song and MV. Thank you so much and I love you! 💜
The whole album is wonderful, Im proud of Namjoon for making something so vulnerable and beautiful. He deserves all the praise. And Youjeens voice is stunning 😍
Also LOVED it!!!! So much emotion! The lyrics, the vocals, the production, the visuals everything amazing. Thanks guys for reacting! You explained the meaning really well :) Edited to add that I think you guys will enjoy other tracks on Indigo too! He tackles basically a different genre in each song and features a lot of artists, and he was very intentional with it - choosing people whose styles have influenced him. There's also a great behind the scenes film on BANGTANTV (the Magazine Film) where he discusses each track and the featured artists each share a bit too.
His entire album is amazing. All 10 songs are absolute masterpieces. It is a no-skip album for me. Thank you for your reaction. Also, Septa is stronger than me. I cried so hard when I listened to Wildflower for the first time.
The goosebumps when youjeen came in. RM has a very commanding voice, but still has a youthfulness to it, like a certain innocent/ naïveté? A really really well done album, imo more mature musically (I love mono so so much tho).
I love the entire album! Indigo will surprise you, will make you move and make you cry. You should also check out RM's Mono. I also love his singing voice. I didn't know Youjeen until this album and since I've checked her out and she's a 45-year old rocker in the group Cherry Filter. Her voice is amazing! There is a documentary in which RM describes all the songs and all the collaborators talk about working with RM and singing their song. Amazing! Thank you!
"ARMY is like the Sunshine that helps him grow" 😭 That sentence got me. You are right though, we have been with him, and every BTS member from the beginning. We have helped him get through some of the darkest times. And I will say that K-ARMY's got them through the early days, and then I-ARMY's got him through their fast rise in the West to super stardom. They wouldn't have re-signed with Big Hit if it wasn't for ARMY's. They were so exhausted physically and mentally. Anyways, I'm going off topic. I love your reaction to this song. My first time watching this music video I bawled my eyes out. Then I watched it like 3 more times before I could watch it without crying. Then I watched it on my plasma tv one day and I realized that the all the flower petals were surrounding him in every scene and they were the most vibrant purple. That got me to cry again. This song really touched my heart. I am reminded of a V-Live or a behind the scenes when he said once that he couldn't be a solo rapper. And look at him now, he's not just a solo rapper, he's a solo artist that is killing it. I'm enjoying watching him grow into himself, and live his best life. 💜 He performed this with Youjeen in Seoul, live performance. I will link that for you if you would like to react to it. RM - Wild Flower (w/Youjeen) @ Rolling Hall, Seoul, S. Korea - th-cam.com/video/ux5WWmh9Kvc/w-d-xo.html
cute that you guys saw the flower field or the sun as army! it's a sweet analogy. at first i just saw it as namjoon vs rm, the namjoon that loves being among the flowers and taking quiet walks in nature vs rm the famous celebrity. joon has expressed that he wants to spend more time as kim namjoon now after years of having to live as rm of bts. but there's different ways to interpret it! ^_^ i found your interpretation quite heartwarming. i think rm wants to individually as an artist (and as bts) be long-lasting and set his sights less towards trends and a "fire-work-like" existence as you said. in order to do that he probably has to re-evaluate the things that bts have done, and the way that the members have lived, that are a detriment to that goal. they've lived such a fast-paced life as artists that have run forward without stopping to catch a breath, and it's affected the quality of their personal lives. most of the members are in their late 20s now, and creating a sturdy foundation by living out their lives not as celebrities but as regular people and individual artists, discovering themselves and then coming back as bts is a much healthier long term goal for them. i hope they feel fulfilled as individual people. fun fact, docskim the producer of the song was gonna quit producing and retire after wildflower, then as he was working on the song he regained inspiration and decided to continue. he did a beautiful job with the producion.
So, if you loved this, you will need to check out the rest of the album. It is absolutely AMAZING all the way through. I think every song is a different genre and has features selected that are placed perfectly for each song and each genre. A masterpiece. It is like a diary of his 20's and really should be listened to from start to finish if at all possible. I guarantee that you will love it though.
Growth and maturity as an Artist is pure chef's kiss. 💜 Plus the layers and depths to their Artistry as a group and individually only add to my respect and awe for them altogether.
please listen to the whole album, Indigo. you wont regret it. its a masterpiece!! namjoon is really brilliant 💜 Wildflower made me cry for 2 whole days, it touched me real hard. thanks for watching this. take care guys!
Random funny thing. One of my friend's go-to karaoke song is "Sweet Kitty" by Cherry Filter and Youjeen is from Cherry Filter hahahaha. You guys should check it out on your own time. It's an old korean song.
You can watch RM 'Indigo' album magazine film (BANGTANTV), he tell whats behind music and you hear involved artists of album. Greetings from the edge of Europe
Just subscribed to your channel coz you guys seem to genuinely react to tracks rather than just doing it for views. LOVE how musicians and artists react to BTS' music.
We are so glad to hear that!! We love having discussions about music and learning from the conversations we get in the comments😄🥳💜 It is very fun and we are glad to have you join our community 💜😄🦖 BORAHAE!!!💜
Y'all should really watch his Indigo film where he goes through each song, along with some of the featured artists & producers are on there as well: th-cam.com/video/lRy8OYhLO-A/w-d-xo.html Also, he really touches on Indigo as well with Zack Sang Show: th-cam.com/video/XpysHaaliuc/w-d-xo.html
If you guys react to RM's entire album, which I hope you will, He said in an interview about the album that he hopes people listen to it in order. Something you might consider.
The whole album is amazing. If you check out enjoy bts more channel, they got the lyric video up to most of the album with commentary from RM at the end explaining each song.
🙏🙏Please please please react to the album in order. I want to know what is your take on Namjoon's art 🙏🥺 Oh and please react to Indigo magazine film... If possible. To know Namjoon's perspective Thank you again. I love watching you ❤️💜

He performed this with Youjeen in Seoul, live performance. I will link that for you if you would like to react to it.

Oh I wasn't expecting an Indigo reaction, whoa! Thank you!!!
It’s so BEAUTIFUL💜💜💜💜🦖
I love your reaction and your thought for this wonderful song 💜
cute that you guys saw the flower field or the sun as army! it's a sweet analogy.
at first i just saw it as namjoon vs rm, the namjoon that loves being among the flowers and taking quiet walks in nature vs rm the famous celebrity. joon has expressed that he wants to spend more time as kim namjoon now after years of having to live as rm of bts. but there's different ways to interpret it!
OOooo new interpertations that I have not heard before!
