They are called Bantu Knots :-) A little tip I've learned, fingers cause frizz. So next time after you remove the bobbie pins, use a little hair serum, pomade, or whatever you use to combat frizz; put it on your fingertips and run it down the length of the hair. It will help with frizz control and fly aways. Another thing is if you only separate at the root, instead of separating then brushing, your curls will last longer. Hope these tips help. Be blessed.
I'm a black chick and I hate seeing other black chicks trying to start a battle that doesn't need to be. She is not stealing our culture and it's okay if she didn't remember the name like idk why is such a touchy subject but yal are annoying.
EXACTLY! I'm sick of people saying that's "culture appropriation". It's only culture appropriating if she's wearing it as a fashion statement... If she's just trying to curl her hair it's not that serious... We need to stop making everything into a competition... 2 years ago no one gave af about this, now everyone makes a drama fest out of every little thing 💀
+ChandlerKnowsBest including you. looking at the previous comments down the page, you R abusing others who don't call it the bantu knot and yet now you R tryna look like a good person by siding with the black girls who R saying 'theyre not stealing our culture etc'. You R not even black. You R mixed and probably neva spent a second in the African culture you R trying 2 claim.
Calm down people are always looking for ways to bring others down she's just trying to find an easy way to make her hair curly if Bantu knots work for her then so be it she never said she made this up

Alicia Waide I simply stated my opinion on the matter, which I'm free to do just as you are. It's ridiculous that everyone was accusing her of something that simply isn't true, and trying to cause problems where there weren't any.
ChandlerKnowsBest Thank you for being a voice of reason lol. It was just very irritating to read numerous, accusatory comments that were clearly unfounded. And it was ironic that someone would take the time to reply to my comment stating that the issue wasn't serious enough to warrant my comment...but my comment was serious enough to warrant hers?? anyway Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays : )
Princessxdestiny because people are racist they even claim curly hair my relative she is indian she have curly hair like black well she is very light skinned lighter than the woman In vedio stop this cultural appropriation its cultural appreciation please its stupid
baby girl. i need you to know what this method is called. this is a method that African women started and still do, they're called bantu knots. everyone needs to know that, those 'little buns' are very important to the culture so please call them what they are and give credit where its due. also you are gorgeous and they look amazing on you.
This actually worked! I put them in thinking that it wouldn't work in a million years, but then it turned out pretty well for a first time Note: I didn't use any product on my hair apart from hairspray afterwards to keep it up for longer so you don't necessarily need what she used in the video Thanks For A Great Video!! I'm Gonna Try This Out Some More
I'd do this with just two buns when I was a little girl, and now I do a sort of mix between a French braid and a rope braid on each side and wrap them into buns behind my ears. Gives rather mermaid-y hair, I can't do more for extra curliness though. I'm envious of all you ladies who can sleep with loads of bantu knots, the effect is beautiful!
Leave the poor girl alone, I've been curling my hair like this for the last year or so and had no clue up until now that these were called Bantu Knots and were part of African American culture. She probably didn't know that these were called Bantu Knots either, and it's hardly as if she's mocking black people by making this video.
cherry noodles Others were complaining about the fact that she said little buns instead of Bantu knots, as they are originally called ,saying that white people stole their hairstyles, but that is just simply incorrect. I am not white nor is she. White people do not have the power to say "you stole our hairstyles, because you wear a weave/wig/clip ons, trying to have straight hair like mine! " however they don't because it's obnoxious, not logical, and most importantly, false. No face created anything, people need to stop with this foolery.
Omg THANK YOUUU. My thoughts exactly! I know people are angry due to injustices surrounding race, and crooked ass cops doing the horrendous shit they do, and shit, probably even just living life in america from thru the lense a black persons perspective. I can completely get on board with anyone being pissed off for any of those kind of reasons. Genuine unjustices being commited against human beings in general pisses me off too! I get that some people are really angry, but this isnt the place for that i dont think. And lingering anger against someone who did you wrong before, does NOT make every white person a racist. This video is NOT a good example of cultural appropriation imo. This girl just thought she found a great way to make her straight hair curly over night. She probably had no idea bantu knots were even a thing. And thats not something people should be prosecuting her for. I reallly dont think she posted this vid with any kind of maliscious intent! People need to chill the fuck out and quit making EVERYTHING about RACE! Im soo sick of everybody feeling like they need to walk on eggshells just to avoiding offending the next hyper sensitive group of the week, and getting metaphorically chased off a cliff by a bunch of crazy people with torches! People need to pull up their big girl panties, grow a thick skin and maybe try putting some effort into worrying about the many actually IMPORTANT issues at hand today! Dont be creating unnessesary conflict where there dosent need to be any! Shit..smh.
Not sure how this became racial? It's sad. My Grandma used a similar techinique since I was 5, causain, Portuguese decent. Ladies let share and luv, be nice. ty for this video.
Sunshine Baker, first of all, straightening your hair IS NOT only for people like ”us”. Literally, silk pressing just helps people manage their hair better and some people just like it. Whites do not own straight hair. People most Asians have naturally straight hair too. I do admit curls aren't only for African Americans but there are some hairstyles that are literally made for their hair texture. Nobody owns straight hair. Just saying.
Looks so natural! I also have naturally straight hair that can't hold a curl so this was REALLY helpful! Love it! Awesome tutorial! Can't wait to try it tonight!!
LOL @ everybody getting mad because people are pointing out (one of) it's proper name and origin. Don't understand why everyone is so mad... They're called Bantu Knots. They're originally African. That's not racist, it does matter. If she were to do a Dutch braid and call it something else, everybody would be telling her it's called a Dutch braid. It has nothing to do with being black. Nobody is claiming that she claimed it as her own. Nobody is saying she stole it. The hairstyle came out really nice, it looks great and natural and I (a black person) am very glad you came across it. People in the comments just want her to understand that her hairstyle is something very significant in black culture. It's a way that we tame and style our hair because we have to, not for fun, because we have to. This is not a history lesson or a lesson on black hair. I just need you to know that that simple hairstyle you did has been helping black people for a long time. I also need you to know that I am glad that you have helped other people embrace such a unique technique.
I agree with your comment but this is not something we "have to do to tame our hair" it is optional. you are implying that black people "need to tame" their hair because it in it's natural state it untamed. no. I do not need to do Bantu knots to manipulate my curls for it to be beautiful. it's beautiful with or without a defined curl, an Afro or a Bantu knot out. I do them for fun not because I need to. We don't NEED to do anything to our hair but keep it healthy and moisturized.
Jessica Ray Although I understand your perception, I never said anything about beauty...I'm glad you were blessed and don't need to do anything to your hair, including using any styling products since your hair is already "tamed" according to your logic. If we do not manipulate our hair, it will remain tangled and break so will it really be healthy? OH, that's what I thought. Thank you for your comment and your opinion but really, i was unnecessary as I never said nor implying ANYTHING that you said. However, I do agree that black hair in it's natural state, "tamed" or not, is beautiful. Never denied it, never will.
Makenzie Hopper As I said in my speech*, I was identifying one of it's names but thank you for your comment and compliment. My mother had me calling them chiney bumps when I was little. Never claimed it only has one name...
I get tired of reading or seeing ignorant comments. First off Bantu Knots are not a American Black culture it'd a African style. I hear Africans say all the time how black ppl think they own or started everything. FYI, BANTU KNOTTING was done by all women in America. That's how they curled their hair before the first Black woman Madam C. J Walker made the curling iron. They Bantu knotted and rolled their hair with paper bags or cloth they tore up... ppl its hair, why let what one ethnicity say about hairstyles Black ppl wear get to you...
Africans even say they started greek and roman braids and viking braids lol, instead of actually searching and learning for things that they have done on the internet they claim everyone elses things its not hard to look into things they have done.
Ladies with semi-curly hair or wavy hair, I wouldn't recommend doing this. When I woke up, I could hardly take the little buns out, like they literally just got stuck, that for a moment I thought my 20 buns on my head were never coming off! It tangled my hair to the extreme! But it defenitely looks good on straight hair because it's more silky and smooth (:
My great Aunt and Grandma curl their hair like this in the early 40s late 50s and early 60s until spinge curlers came out ... You did a great way of exsplaining heatless curls
it worked !!!!! usually i go everywhere with straight hair but then when I use this method it shocked me and everyone else i ❤❤❤❤❤❤ this method thank you so much
Just put 8 buns in my hair instead of 12. Slightly afraid, nervous and excited about the outcome I'll have tomorrow! Hopefully it turns out cute, because straight hair just gets so boring after a while and your results were SO cute!!
I was pretty surprised, it turned out super cute! There are a few kinks that I'll need to work out for the next time, but the way you did yours and how you explained it was absolutely perfect, and the curls held all day..even without hair spray or any other hair products! Thank you for this tutorial!!❤️
I have been reading some of these ridiculous comments and I cannot believe how ignorant and racist they are! So what if this lady who wants to share with us how she twisted up her hair and made it into little buns to make it curly without heat didn't use the some words for a similar thing that some people who are black (and by the way many other cultures). Really people? This is the most single petty thing I have been privy to see on the internet. This lady is adorable and by the way my grandmother from Russia taught me how to do this when I was young and called them"pin-curls" cause you twist the hair and use a pin to keep it in place. My point is that the comments here are really mean. Wake up and smell some coffee! We all bleed red and appearantly twist the hair! I don't care about where it came from, what different folks call it,or ANY of this bs. What I want to know is...did you try it,did you get the same results as the sweet girl in the video and did you like the look? This is how people become racist. We ALL have hair and it's all a little bit different ranging between silver white to coal black, from very fine to super thick and short to long, from straight to curly. As women we ALWAYS want to look different if its straight we curl if it's curly we straighten it. It's not got a damn thing to do with the color of the skin underneath it. Don't spread hate. Don't be petty. It would have been a nice educational thing just to point out that some cultures do this and call it Bantu knots, but THAT is as far as the conversation needed to go. You can not be equal and better than. You can not be the same as and constantly point out differences. We all know that we are ALL different, I think we need to focus on how we are alike and built on our common strengths. We need to stop being black people, white people, asian people and be human people. ... drops mike..
I’m 73 and I have been doing these types of curls for years. We just used water and we called them pin curls. I never knew where they came from when I was young. My mom and Aunts showed me how to do them when I was 13.
Is anyone else tired of ppl playing the "you stole from our culture" card? I am not racist by any means but it's ALWAYS ppl of colour(women in particular when it comes to fashion and beauty) who do this. How come we always have to recognize where something came from and if we don't we are stealing it BLAH nlah BLAH. If I wear big hoops and reg braids im stealing their look....but yet if a black woman straightens her hair or gets blonde hair extensions and wears what would be considered traditionally white no one feels the need to call it out and if we did we would be racist? How about not eberyone is going to know the origins of something and isn't being malicious by trying something. Or they come up with something themselves and think it's really cool- lets just let everyone be beautiful and STOP bringing each other down...just an idea
because, it's their culture. this isn't that hard to understand. having blonde and straight hair is not part of a white persons culture. when you use something from someone else's culture for a fashion statement or for your 'aesthetic' then that is incredibly offensive and so fucking ignorant.
But there are lots of other cultures who use braids not just black culture. It just seems like there are many more serious issues that need to be brought to light rather than people bitching and complaining about someone braiding their hair or using another cultures hairstyle and people losing their shit because it's being "stolen". This is JUST my opinion though.
Like In the grand scheme of things ppl are dying and being murdered and wars are going on RIGHT NOW and yet ppl are so bust up over the fact she didn't know they were called Bantu knots. It wouldn't have made a diff though If she had called them the correct name she still would be told she's not black and shouldmt be rocking Bantu knots as she's not black
+brooklyn ayy African American people simply are never born with blonde hair (unless they're mixed) so it's technically a whit people thing since they're the only race who can be born with blonde hair.
+Jane Godfrey I get it. black people are never born with blonde hair. BUT blonde hair is not part of a culture or a tradition white people do. the hair that black people have is important to their culture and where they came from.
Why did I read the comments? Oh yes to see if this technique really works. Doesnt matter where it came from first, this young lady is the first to show me how its done. Thank you very much. Looks beautiful and im going to try it. .
Lol I don't think it really matters what the hell this method is called. Sweet Jesus get over it people, it's a lovely technique, she isn't claiming to have invented it! Nice video and thank you for sharing
it doesn't matter to you because its not a part of your culture :) i doubt anybody is losing sleep over it, just wanted to inform her on what they're called :) she does look nice in them
"Get over it." White people's favorite phrase to say after they fuck over other races. Steal land from Indians and slaughter almost an entire race? "Get over it." Build that stolen country on the backs of other races (blacks, asiand, ect) "Get over it." Continues to live off a system that undermines non-whites. "Get over it." Continuously invades and bombs other countries. "Get over it." But let something happen to white people? "Never forget!" ie: Remember the Alamo... mmmmhmmmm Where the fuck is my tea?
LauraKat666 you are right here what does it matter it isn't like she is going on national tv and earning rewards for creating this amazing new technique... Grow up it is a youtube video and thingatchu what the hell 'white people's favourate thing to say' you can't use an entire history and culture against one individual i mean it's not like she was actually there and it was her fault And her idea? So i'm going to use "OUR" favourate phrase 'get over it' Btw you were saying about undermineing anyone who isn't white but isn't that exactly what you are doing being a starioytypical twat towards white people It's a great method no matter where it came from so thank you for uploading it
LauraKat666 Imagine: 20 years later, white women are popularizing their "little buns" technique and everyone is praising the whites for this beautiful sexy hairstyle then when black women are wearing their knots, we're back at square 1 where black women are just "trying to be white" like the whole relaxers and weaves deal. That's the implication and THAT'S why we don't get over it. It's not JUST a hair issue. Think a little bigger, if you're capable.
thingatchu can't make every white person responsible for the past I wasn't even alive then so it is wrong of you to even say that because i have not done that. I have a lot of respect for black people how strong they are from what iv learn in history etc but shit like this coming from you is getting old now, being labelled a racist automatically because of skin colour is also racism.
My hair tends to frizz and look bushy by the end of the day. It looks fab first thing in the morning and throughout the day however. Any suggestion?. I also have the hardest time twisting and wrapping the baby bun UGH!!!!!! I appreciate that you are a beautiful modern woman who is a non- apologetic Christian. What an example and role model you are!!!!
Pile on the anti frizz product before doing your curls. Even just mousse. But use lots of it. Dry hair will frizz using this method without product first.
They didn't come out as yours did but it worked and I love my curls I've tried every single curl video on TH-cam and this is the only one that worked I ❤️ you now I have a good hair style for Mother's Day
I've done this before without any product and it worked beautifully but that may be because my hair is naturally poofy/curly. Going to do it again sometime soon, especially since I'm running out of hair styles with my new short hair.
I grew up watching my Italian mother doing this after washing her hair. The hair was much shorter & lots more curls were put in. She didn't necessarily twist it but was making little circles of curls that were kept in place with two bobbi pins. She called it 'bobby pinning' her hair and it always came out beautiful!
+Valerie Ramunno ... My mom sat down with her bobby pins and did her whole head without even looking in just a few minutes. This was before using hair product too.
+Aksum አክሱም ፣ ንግሥት what's your problem? she wasn't saying they looked the same she said that it looked beautiful on her mom and said it was done a different way.
+Aksum አክሱም ፣ ንግሥትShe mentioned that it wasn't exactly the same? Why does such a positive comment have to turn into a comment about racial hatred? That comment was uncalled for and really just pathetic.
Nice this is called pincurls. My mom did it in the 1930's. Its not a new trick but I am glad that the new generation is using this old method to curl their hair.
These aren't pin curls at all. And yes, the name matters because African Americans never get credit for anything we've created. We didn't get credit for the toilet, the drum, and a bunch of other things. Why are you guys getting so offended that it's from Africa? There's a braid called the Dutch braid, and nobody is getting on anybody's case if they correct someone who is calling it the wrong name.
I have tried something like this trying to curl my hair and watching your video made me want to try it out again! I would do it without product, so the curls would fall pretty fast and return to wavy. I'm glad that I got to see some product that would help make them stay longer (I'm not really a beauty enthusiast, so I don't know what people use). Thank you!
Awesome! God bless you dear sister. Thanks! I totally wanted to know what I could do to get my flat hair into curls without damaging it. That’s looks so good and natural. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the great tutorial, and I was happy to get educated by the comment section that these cool little buns are called bantu knots ,whose cultural origins started in Africa and often symbolize black pride. They are a tradition we can all share, and as with any great invention, with high respect for those West African people who created it.
I have naturally curly hair and this works great for curly hair too. Sometimes I need to braid it to keep it healthy as it dries so it doesn’t end up frizzy and flat. I take my braid out the next day and it’s still damp, then I add more product with wetted hands and gently work it in. It air dries and has a great curl pattern then if I’d styled it straight out of the shower.
My hair is a little wavy. I didn't even have to use any product and I got great curls. I loved this tutorial and will be doing it again. Thank you for this video.
arianna reynolds Why? The Bible is literally a sexist racist book that has a bunch of out dated rules in it that ignorant people worship because they’ve been blinded from the truth.
Rayanne Florence the bible is NOT sexist or racist! If I said that about a Muslim holy book people would freak out. You should respect our culture and mind your own business!
@@rayanneflorence1830 Grow tf up and respect other people's opinions Nobody asked for your opinion when she was just saying what she liked ugh. Do Christians not deserve to be happy?
Don't worry about the comments sweetie, it came out beautiful and you are a beautiful girl both inside and out. Not everyone's willing to share what they know. I will definitely try it, and Thank you soooo much for the tutorial, so far it's the easiest one I've seen. Keep up the good work. God Bless you.
I can't wait to try this!!!! I have naturally curly hair but it's been getting straighter lately so I'm super happy I found this and I hope it'll work and the best part is it won't damage my hair!
Ok who cares that she calls them "little buns" if you guys think about it, it's like creating a mini top know bun. And why bring race into this? Who cares about who created it? Does it really matter who created it? No it doesn't.
Love them, I just started doing headless curls myself, I have baby fine hair, but I have a lot of hair, and it's mixed, curly around my face, wavy 80% and bone straight like 3 fingers in the back, yup a complete mess, so this method is becoming my go to since in not damaging my hair with ago the heart. My question is what did you use to brush it out, it looked great, I've been afraid to brush it because I thought I would look like a poodle, but your curls look natural and beautiful. Do you brush it out with a wide tooth comb or like a paddle brush?
Same here!!! Baby fine hair, a lot of it, but every section of my hair is different, poker straight in some places, wavy in others! I wore a buzz-cut for years, but I'm giving longer hair another shot 🙏👍
When I was a little girl my grandma did pin curls in my hair before bed. It was the only way she ever curled her hair. These really add some nice twist. Now that my hair is butt length I think I'm going to have to try these! Thanks!
The second I saw what she started to do I knew someone was gonna have something to say in the comments. Clearly wherever she learned how to do this style, she wasn't told the proper name. If this was a video of a black girl curling or straightening her hair no one would be losing their minds and saying she knows nothing about the culture and where the hairstyle came from. Who cares what she calls it. Black people are too damn sensitive man. Just watch the damn video, lol.
Comments like this annoy me so bad. I have curly hair and it is a pain, all the curls knit together and when people say they'd do shit like that angers me like no I hate my hair but I would never wish to have any other hair type. God blessed you with what you have, be happy with it!
I always do cornrows before I go to bed and I never use product, only water to dampen it and it works perfectly! Doesn't curl my hair like this, but gives my hair cute beachy waves. I'm obsessed.
My hair is exactly like yours! It's really hard to curl, or basically do anything with or it will fall right out in a matter of minutes! I am going to check it out tonight to see how it works!
I noticed I'm the video she said comb them out but I didn't actually see her comb the curls. I have naturaly curly hair and my first thought was "she is going to find the curls and just make a ton a frizz." Separate with oiled fingers yes but do not comb. I tried this some years ago but I did it on wet hair 🤦♀️ so my hair didn't dry for HOURS LOL I got I patient and gave up on these.
These curls are beautiful, she isn't stealing a hair style! She is trying out different things! Your video is awesome! DOnt listen to what the haters say, haters gonna hate!
What texturizer is she using? I did this with sections, and slept with it overnight. It only created loose beachy waves, and they only stayed in for 30 minutes.
I thought it looked beautiful, and as far as the hairstyle goes.. my mom was doing this when she was 15 yrs old and that was over 70yrs ago...It looks beautiful on her.. I loved it...💖🙋♀️
They are called Bantu Knots :-) A little tip I've learned, fingers cause frizz.

Who cares about who were the first people to use this technique. Her hair came out very pretty. Thanks for sharing!
yea but she should at least call it by its proper name which is bantu knots, not these little bun thingys
^^ you realize she probably didn't know the name of it. Lol
Ava Rodriguez you realize thats why people are simply trying to point that out to her...
You realize that it doesn't really matter? Her hair is so pretty!! Let her do her damn tutorial.
Jessica Ray yes but people are also being rude. And saying she could at least call it by her proper name is as if she should've already known.
omg thank you so much for this tutorial I naturally have wavy curly hair! And I think this is going to help them even out when I wear it that way!
great!!! I'm glad i can help you with any styling tips :)

I'd do this with just two buns when I was a little girl, and now I do a sort of mix between a French braid and a rope braid on each side and wrap them into buns behind my ears. Leave the poor girl alone, I've been curling my hair like this for the last year or so and had no clue up until now that these were called Bantu Knots and were part of African American culture. She probably didn't know that these were called Bantu Knots either, and it's hardly as if she's mocking black people by making this video.
If anything she's promoting it as being a great method to curl hair.
They are actually originally African. :)
cherry noodles Others were complaining about the fact that she said little buns instead of Bantu knots, as they are originally called ,saying that white people stole their hairstyles, but that is just simply incorrect. I am not white nor is she. White people do not have the power to say "you stole our hairstyles, because you wear a weave/wig/clip ons, trying to have straight hair like mine! " however they don't because it's obnoxious, not logical, and most importantly, false. No face created anything, people need to stop with this foolery.
yeah thats right
Omg THANK YOUUU. Shit..smh.
I did this last night, and this has changed my LIFE! My hair has never been so happy. YOU ARE AMAZING! Thank you!
Every time i watch one of these videos people are always pointing out that black people did it first ,like shutup nobody owns a hairstyle!
Not sure how this became racial? It's sad. My Grandma used a similar techinique since I was 5, causain, Portuguese decent.
Ladies let share and luv, be nice. ty for this video.
Curly hair Whit socks
Ikr thank you geez
@Sunshine Baker 🤗👍
Just saying.
its only been 10 seconds of the vid and first thing i said to my self was " i Loveeee her hair color omg " God bless your hair its gorgeous !
Crystal Lashana SO respectful, SO true. The significance of it is KEY!
Crystal Lashana they are called wrap arounds but good speach
I love this. its the only curly hair tutorial that actually works so far!
Michelle Gomez she made the hot comb
ㅇㅋ
Michelle Gomez
I know that’s right girl! Thank you I didn’t know that info 😉
Daniela calero good to know because I have wavy hair & was going to do this. Now maybe not. 😮
Thank uuuuu for helping me dodge that bullet
I have wavy hair and did almost the same but with papers and it definitely worked. This was like the only way that curled my hair the way I wanted.
your Bantu knots came out beautiful 💝
WOW she really looks like ALLY from 5h😻
Omg yes!😻😽
Omg facts 😂😂😂😂
gahdamn😂
And they're both Christians!
ikr
My great Aunt and Grandma curl their hair like this in the early 40s late 50s and early 60s until spinge curlers came out ... You did a great way of exsplaining heatless curls
it worked !!!!! usually i go everywhere with straight hair but then when I use this method it shocked me and everyone else i ❤❤❤❤❤❤ this method thank you so much
Having hair is such a drag! 😩 I try not to burn my hair with all these irons but doing all these tutorials bother the way I sleep. 😭
Ashley Sandoval girl yes I feel you😭😭
That is adorable and hilarious. Back when I was a lil tyke, we called them pin curls!!!
Just put 8 buns in my hair instead of 12. Slightly afraid, nervous and excited about the outcome I'll have tomorrow! Hopefully it turns out cute, because straight hair just gets so boring after a while and your results were SO cute!!
How'd it go?
I was pretty surprised, it turned out super cute! There are a few kinks that I'll need to work out for the next time, but the way you did yours and how you explained it was absolutely perfect, and the curls held all day..even without hair spray or any other hair products! Thank you for this tutorial!!❤️
I just tried it... have no idea how it will turn out 😆 I have 10 in total, my hair is thin though xx
+stephyclaws How'd it go?
lauren simmons it went really well, my hair looked really thick too and I have hardly any hair 😊 xx
Great job, I'm going to try this. My hairs about your length. Cool way to get those Beautiful curls. Thanks for sharing this.
She did a great job and they look beautiful but fyi, these are aka "pin curls" and this technique has been around for ages 👍👍👍
Megan6772 exactly, and my aunt used to do my hair like this when I was little, and I am an old person now
And by the way, I am not a guy. This is just my user name. 😂
I’m 73 and I have been doing these types of curls for years. We just used water and we called them pin curls. I never knew where they came from when I was young. My mom and Aunts showed me how to do them when I was 13.
Technically these are not pin curls..I'm a hair stylists and these are not pin curls they are called knot's
I used to do my mom's hair in pin curls in the 60's, and the strands didn't get twisted before winding and laying flat on the head, not little buns.
BUT blonde hair is not part of a culture or a tradition white people do. the hair that black people have is important to their culture and where they came from.
she actually looks really nice without taking the knots out!
My Great Aunt Stella used to do her hair like this. She, if still alive ,woulld be in her 90's. God bless her. Good video. Beautiful curls.
Why did I read the comments? Oh yes to see if this technique really works. Doesnt matter where it came from first, this young lady is the first to show me how its done. Thank you very much. Looks beautiful and im going to try it. .
I'm latina and have very curly hair🤔?Really why make this a racial thing. Its just hair doesn't matter what color or race we are.
Great comment for real 💯
they’re gatekeeping white girls from NORMAL HUMAN FEATURES.
🤦🏻♀️oh puleeze
I tried this and on the 1st attempt i got what i wanted, ugh love it
Please say write the name of cream
Thhanks
Omg it hurts when I lay down. My hair are too long so I got huge ass honeycombs on my head.
Same girl. It helps if you put the buns higher up or more towards the front so the back is flat.
ikr
Hahha a omg... where a beanie or a shower cap :)
!! bb. poll.
Next time try wrapping your hair up in a scarf. Probably will hurt less?
Love the awsome trick! Never ever seen such great curls from straight to curly without a perm!!!
All hair techniques I try from TH-cam never work, but I did this yesterday and I LOVE HOW IT LOOKS, couldn't believe this actually works!
Do more videos more often! Love 'em! By the way, the little buns are generally known as Zulu knots ;) God bless!
thank you sorry i just been super busy with work but ill do my best to stay on a weekly posting repetition much love!!
They are kniwn as Chiney bumps in Jamaica.
"Get over it."
Build that stolen country on the backs of other races (blacks, asiand, ect) "Get over it."
Continues to live off a system that undermines non-whites. "Get over it."
Continuously invades and bombs other countries. "Get over it."
But let something happen to white people? "Never forget!" ie: Remember the Alamo... mmmmhmmmm Where the fuck is my tea?
LauraKat666 you are right here what does it matter it isn't like she is going on national tv and earning rewards for creating this amazing new technique... Grow up it is a youtube video and thingatchu what the hell 'white people's favourate thing to say' you can't use an entire history and culture against one individual i mean it's not like she was actually there and it was her fault And her idea? So i'm going to use "OUR" favourate phrase 'get over it'
Btw you were saying about undermineing anyone who isn't white but isn't that exactly what you are doing being a starioytypical twat towards white people
It's a great method no matter where it came from so thank you for uploading it
LauraKat666 Imagine: 20 years later, white women are popularizing their "little buns" technique and everyone is praising the whites for this beautiful sexy hairstyle then when black women are wearing their knots, we're back at square 1 where black women are just "trying to be white" like the whole relaxers and weaves deal.
I did that twice it works so great i love this idea!! Thanks!!💯
What a beautiful result! I have done four, but I see that more is prettier! Great job, young lady!
This was before using hair product too.
those are called pin curls! its a very old method of curling hair :)
You look amazing, great idea!! I will pass this off to my daughter to try!! God Bless Ya!!
sgvzjlntu
ur look has changed totally and its amezing..... thnx for this technique...
Nice this is called pincurls. My mom did it in the 1930's. Its not a new trick but I am glad that the new generation is using this old method to curl their hair.
They are originally from Africa . It's called bantu knots .
^ its a method to curl hair it doesnt matter
These aren't pin curls at all. And yes, the name matters because African Americans never get credit for anything we've created. We didn't get credit for the toilet, the drum, and a bunch of other things. Why are you guys getting so offended that it's from Africa? There's a braid called the Dutch braid, and nobody is getting on anybody's case if they correct someone who is calling it the wrong name.
Emily Sanchez it actually does matter to the people who care about it , and if it works give credit to the people who created 👋
Emily Sanchez it does matter. different methods are called different names. duh
OH MY GOD, I LOVE YOU, YOU SAVED ME FOR HOMECOMING DANCE
Couldn't really sleep with bobby pins all over my head! So I used rubber bands instead and they worked just fine :)
Who else came to see how to get crazy curly Tori Kelly hair?
Nooralhuda Al-azzawi there's avideo for that, I would link it but I would have to dig it out again
OMG I LOVE HER HAIR AND I WAS GOING FOR HER HAIRRR!
OMGGGG THIS ACTUALLY WORKEDDD!!! I TRIED IT OUT JUST ONE TO SEE AND IT WORKED!!! then I did like 5 IT WORKED I'm going to do my whole hair!!!
Did you put any product in the hair?
+Malia McAllister no just put water to make it damp
Good to know girl! Now I am definitely doing this! My hair is straight af right now! Thanks!
Melanie Garcia after when u woke up with the curls did u use a comb or a brush ?
I just seperated it in to smaller curls I didn't brush it or comb it cause it would make my hair poofy
Thank you for the great tutorial, and I was happy to get educated by the comment section that these cool little buns are called bantu knots ,whose cultural origins started in Africa and often symbolize black pride. They are a tradition we can all share, and as with any great invention, with high respect for those West African people who created it.
😂🤦♀️🙄
I have naturally curly hair and this works great for curly hair too. Sometimes I need to braid it to keep it healthy as it dries so it doesn’t end up frizzy and flat. I take my braid out the next day and it’s still damp, then I add more product with wetted hands and gently work it in. It air dries and has a great curl pattern then if I’d styled it straight out of the shower.
My hair is a little wavy. I didn't even have to use any product and I got great curls. I loved this tutorial and will be doing it again. Thank you for this video.
My mum was doing this in the 50s and 60s I used to take her pins out when I was a kid lol
lol
I tried this and it turned out amazing!
did u do that for the ride music video lana?
+Ra chs lol
Love how u put a bible verse at the beginning of the video😘
arianna reynolds Why? The Bible is literally a sexist racist book that has a bunch of out dated rules in it that ignorant people worship because they’ve been blinded from the truth.
Rayanne Florence the bible is NOT sexist or racist!
If I said that about a Muslim holy book people would freak out.
You should respect our culture and mind your own business!
Violet Sluder have you ever actually read the Bible?
a Bible ignorant here.. sexist and racist? haha. that's funny.
@@rayanneflorence1830
Grow tf up and respect other people's opinions
Nobody asked for your opinion when she was just saying what she liked ugh.
OMG!!! So gorgeous!!!
@esmeralda
Ok who cares that she calls them "little buns" if you guys think about it, it's like creating a mini top know bun. And why bring race into this? Who cares about who created it? Does it really matter who created it? No it doesn't.
Jordan Lindsey you are really smart and pretty sister and most importantly rational sister
Run a rat tail comb through the curls so that u dont break them
Headless curls 😂😂
@amaya Lopez you can have thin hair but a lot of it, still doesn't have that volume when you grab it all. K.
Thanks!
Wowwwwwwwwwwww the result is amazing. I love your after hair. That's seriously the best no heat curls tutorial I've seen. Thankyou I love you for that
The second I saw what she started to do I knew someone was gonna have something to say in the comments.
I would like to know what styling product you used. There are so many and it gets confusing. Thank you!
My grandmother did this every Saturday night b4 church, but she used Dippity Do!!
Yes , i remember dippity doo
Thank you so much for posting this video. It absolutely works. You are very kind to show everyone how to do this. I hope you had a beautiful wedding!
Love this look, so jealous of the ladies that have this look naturally
Hi:-) so cute xx I'm doing that on Saturday for my next day big date!!! Thanks for sharing :-) I'm crazy for your curls!!! you're so pretty xx.
Am i the only who though about suzanne aka "Crazy eyes" from Oitnb
Games Lover MEEEE
YESS!
crazy face *
im batman It's crazy eyes...Pretty sure of it..😂😂😂
ok.. lul
I can't wait to try it. I would literally sell my soul for naturally curly hair like this.
Me too sigh. We always want what we don't have
Umm.. Your soul is pretty important, not sure that would be a fair trade ;)
Comments like this annoy me so bad. I have curly hair and it is a pain, all the curls knit together and when people say they'd do shit like that angers me like no I hate my hair but I would never wish to have any other hair type. God blessed you with what you have, be happy with it!
why are you annoyed over someone saying they would love curly hair? not a big deal lol chill
Valerie Vega OMG ME TO!!
WOW!!!!!!! I have always wondered how you get ringlet curls. That is awesome. You look beautiful either way!! Thank you so much.
Love your tutorial videos Cynthia, i am a hairdresser relearning balayage and colour, your videos, really helping me, thank you, and your stunning x
I have natural curly hair... why am I here ?
Dana Alsayed sameeeee
Dana Alsayed Same lmao ig I'm just bored
because you wanted to let people know you have naturally curly hair....
Same.
Haha, same. Dunno, might be something here worth trying. I was thinking I could try this to straighten, wave.
The proper term for this hairstyle is called Bantu knots.
Just tried this with wet hair and no other products, I'll see how it goes in the morning 😁 (I have 9 buns)
+lesliesaours it turned out great! I loved it
I always do cornrows before I go to bed and I never use product, only water to dampen it and it works perfectly! Doesn't curl my hair like this, but gives my hair cute beachy waves. I'm obsessed.
how did it go
very beautiful curls can't wait to try it
Your hair looks stunning 😍 great job. Thanks for sharing this trick
Why the honeycomb ? My grandmother did exact same thing when I was a child but she twisted flat and pinned it. She called it pin curls.
Mine too!😀👍🏼
"...so I look like a puppy" LOL
Ashley Indigo yeah that's funny😂😂
very pretty curls. who gives a damn what theyre called....theyre beautiful
My hair is exactly like yours! It's really hard to curl, or basically do anything with or it will fall right out in a matter of minutes! I am going to check it out tonight to see how it works!
Wow! These curls look so big with volume! And natural! U are really good and know what u are doing! Subscribed💜! I love you already
I have medium thickness Asian hair. I took about 8 in mine. Literally took them out and had an Afro. Lol
We r ALL the same race: the CURLY Girl race!
What is the name of the product by L'Oreal you are using?
These curls are beautiful, she isn't stealing a hair style! She is trying out different things! Your video is awesome! DOnt listen to what the haters say, haters gonna hate!
Thank you so much it worked on my hair and stayed in for school yesterday God bless you 😊🙂☺️
These are called Bantu knots or Bantu knot outs if anyone's wondering
Beautiful!
thank you much love
you too!!
What texturizer is she using? I did this with sections, and slept with it overnight. It only created loose beachy waves, and they only stayed in for 30 minutes.
8 sections. I'm gonna try 12
I thought it looked beautiful, and as far as the hairstyle goes.. my mom was doing this when she was 15 yrs old and that was over 70yrs ago...It looks beautiful on her.. I loved it...💖🙋♀️
This looks so pretty! It doesn't look like it would be comfortable to sleep in but it could be worse, like using plastic curlers. Thanks for sharing!
