    I wish my parents did this! A lot of the products like shampoo and conditioners work for some of us, but not all, and we just had to put up with it. This is also so good for teaching them to spend smart.

      My great aunt does that for me and my cousins occasionally because the oldest of us, (me 17 and cousin 16) have minimum wage jobs and bills and can't always afford hygiene products and choose to pay for gas instead.

      I wish even as a grown adult I knew how to calculate the taxes of products when I'm at the store 🤣😂 I don't even know my state's tax rate 👀 now you got me curious...new thing to learn, I think yes!

    • @NEVERMORE1940
      @NEVERMORE1940 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@tiaraashlee4026 it's a great thing to learn bc it can throw off all your calculations plus any other fees that come depending on the service they're using. My state it's 6% the last time I checked. So I always add that then at the end of the month I do a budget sheet with how much I am gonna pay in taxes for taxes that year. It's crazy but it's gotta be done or else those kids will be way off in their budget calculations.

    • @FamilyofNomads
      @FamilyofNomads  ปีที่แล้ว +73

      Yes that’s one of the main reasons they use the calculator.

    • @nickineuwiller9809
      @nickineuwiller9809 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@tiaraashlee4026 hey! I was a teacher for 15 years and now work as a scientist….here is the easiest way ever to calculate sales taxes. First of all, find out your states sales tax rate. Here in Maryland, it is 6%. Then, take your pre-tax total, and multiply that by 1.06. That will give you the total including tax. For example….if my pre-tax total was $97.04, I would multiply 97.04 x 1.06 and my total including sales tax would be $102.86.

    • @melissabloemen
      @melissabloemen ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Omg as a European I thought you meant like financial taxes and was soo confused bc like they're not 18 yet, though ofc it is useful to learn. But that you guys don't have the taxes included on the store price tags is wild, how do you ever know much sth will be? Especially bc different types of products have different tax percentages (at least here), honestly sounds like such a scam to keep you unaware of how expensive your cart is so you'll end up buying more...

    I love this! And I only share to be helpful. But please allow him to buy hair color at Sally’s instead of box dye. It’s almost the same price (i think “ion” is the affordable brand there but it’s been a few years for me) the reason is box dye has metallic salts. It cuts your cuticle to deposit color. Instead of what professional color does by contracting the cuticle to a more “open” state to absorb the color and then contracting to a “close” state to retain it. So much less damage comparatively. That would be like going to the optometrist and when testing your eyes instead of getting droppers to dilate your pupils they just use a scalpel. Like that wouldn’t fly. You need to continue to see. Well it is my opinion you need to have hair on your head. Cutting the cuticle is a “chemical cut” similar to bleaching your hair. It can cause a chemical cut to go from the ends to the scalp and if it splits on the bulb it has a chance to damage the bulb beyond repair and if your papilla ain’t healthy your have no hair. Think of it like a moldy or dead plant. You have to trim the dead to let the rest grow. That’s the same with metallic salts. The only answer is to shave his head or cut it really short to remove the metallic salts. Your son is so young I assume there is not enough damage mechanically(brushing/styling/heat) or hormonally(dht/stress) in combinations with the chemical damage form the box dye. So you can get away with just trimming the ends regularly until it grows out. But I would be more concerned making sure there is not split ends than keeping length. If the splits get to his hairline… it doesn’t matter what age in development. You can have a 40 year old hair line at an age if you just have enough mechanical/hormonal/chemical damage compounded in any order. I highly doubt recommend avoiding heat and highly recommend adding in an oil (literally can buy sweet almond oil for the kitchen or another noncomedogenic {anti-acne, molecule size is so large it can’t clog pores} cooking oil) to his hair at night to avoid friction. Just on the ends. He will wake up and it will feel less like sonic the hedgehog and preserve the ends from getting destroyed if he is a heavy sleeper
