    Nice project, Tony. I'm looking forward to part 2, I'd like to see the scanner card in operation. Thank you for sharing. Regards, David

    That’s really interesting I didn’t realise you could get a scanner card for DVM. The break out connectors look great. Thanks regards Chris

    Wow, this is a really interesting project! Great for production or for characterising small batches of components, even for repairs it may be handy. Being able to monitor different voltages and currents at (almost) the same time could be very useful.
    Very, very clever.

    Nice project, Tony!
    The handle looks exactly like Fluke and HP's. That would mean that it can be folded all the way down underneath and the instrument would still rest on its bumper feet. With the bumper feet removed it would still rest on the breakout boxes.

    I have this exact same meter and also optioned the SC expansion card. I anticipated using it for a test jig for production testing one day. Very excited to find your video and see what you come up with 👍👍

    I just got a roll of 'PC Gray' ABS to print an enclosure for a pair of WZ5005 buck converter power supplies (and a large transformer from the parts bin). Might even get some gray TPU and print some bumpers to fit it nicely on my Rigol DP832 PSU.
    I'm planning to get one of these Siglent multimeters as well, and was already thinking about designing and printing a nice breakout box. If you want, we can collaborate and I can print you one. I'm in NL as well, by the way.

    Did you use the scanner card? Are you satisfied with it?
    I was thinking about ordering such a thing. But if i see that it is not usable like delivered, i can just build a multiplexer box myself, without the need for such a card. If i need to put something together, it could also contain some relays, not just connectors...

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest i think scanner cards are more for productions enviroments where you want to monitor many tempretures or voltages. and if you use this card and you log it with the meter, you see which port what is logged if you build your own it sees it as one channel. those white squares are relais. I sell you mine if you are interested. it is teh whole meter with card. the card is not sold seperate becouse of some changes in te meter itself i have been told by Siglent.

    • @daskasspatzle2396
      @daskasspatzle2396 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your answer 🙂
      Sure, the white things are relays. If you build your own, you can precisely control what you measure when, and do not need this data from the meter.
      Why do you want to sell yours? What price would you sell it for?

      @@TonyAlbus Yep - Still around, although back in the office after 2 years of working from home now, so travel time eats up my days! :( So not too much time to log on :( Nope - Keep doing what your doing, but the vintage bits you do are excellent too. My preference is older HP stuff, but agilent is OK too :) The keysight stuff is too modern... I also have to say that you've kept a lot of us sane during the pandemic! So please - just carry on ! :)

    Oh no! they left out the backing behind the captive nuts, I wonder if it was a mistake or a cost-cutting measure…. Very annoying to have to dismantle it all because of that.

    I was hoping to see the actual card being used as it actually ships from Siglent. Your DIY solution is DIY, I wouldn't want to spend close to $1000 and still leave myself that task to finish it.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, this is the original card from siglent.

    • @thxepsilon8292
      @thxepsilon8292 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TonyAlbus Thank you for your reply. What I meant is that rather than have to DIY the connections to the scanner card, I would have liked to have seen how Siglent proposes that we should use it.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thxepsilon8292 This is done by connectiong your sensors directly to the card.. it is done in a 'system' inviroment. where the DMM is in a fixed place, yall your sensors too and then everything is wired directly.. whichin a hobby inviroment will never be, thats the whole point of the breakout box.

    • @thxepsilon8292
      @thxepsilon8292 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TonyAlbus Oh THAT IS WHY YOU NEEDED TO DIY! So really, thank you for doing this.
      Ugh, I should have read the Siglent datasheet, they explain it there.
      "3.Connection: Turn the clamp and insert the wire.
      4. Tighten cable: Route wiring through strain relief and Cable tie rap Wrap"
      So we are supposed to use this with a bunch of wires coming out of the box! I am not a fan of leaving large holes in the back of a sensitive device. That means that the scanner card is not really a "consumer" product, and there is still a significant engineering task for the end user before it becomes functional.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thxepsilon8292 Hi.. yes correct. no for a consumer it is not really something they would easaly use but with this box it can be.
