Hi Deano. Beans & sausages 0.57p Tinned potatoes are cheap. Theyve got a frozen ready meal range at under a quid. Tinned tomatoes, basic pack of spaghetti. I reckon if you absolutely had to you could do a week easy. Plus their own branded cereals come in at under a quid. Biscuits are good too. Nice one!! The way things are going pal, next years "same" video would be £30!!! How did you run out of brown sauce??? Thats a criminal offence in some parts!
You did really well I think we are all guilty of overspending on food including myself and goes to show how u can live on a budget especially if your on your own x
A wicked video Deano, wasn’t expecting it to be that long 😂 I think you showing how far a tenner can go is absolutely awesome! People struggling this shows what and how you can potentially make things work. Well done Deano 👏👏👏👏 ….Smithy
Long form is much better buddy, allow us to get into a view while were fed up of the Usual short 7 - 10 mins of subject and then bounce around so much we don't ever fully get into the shows ppl have made. Yours is enjoyable to watch and somewhat of a treat on a Sunday especially.
For the instant noodles, I like to add slightly less boiling water than stated, and also add a small knob of butter. They also do a Curry flavour, and I like to add slightly more water than stated, then add a sprinkle of 'Mayflower Medium Curry Sauce Mix' to slightly thicken the consistency.
@@JustDeano just make sure you keep the cupboard full of seasoning and that you have plenty of butter that you have to budget for in your house before you start. Hell to it, buy a fillet steak the day beforehand and have that as well.
Many people have to live frugally. Its not a bit of fun to them, its reality and a permanent challenge. We can't afford to spend £20 each on a plateful of charred meat. The £40 gives us a trolley full of fresh nutritious food. With a bit of imagination, basic cookery skills and some food husbandry we can eat very well for the best part of a week, OK we have some store cupboard essentials but if you spend say £40 now and then, its sustainable. The meals are much better than the establishments you frequent and there's no packet rubbish.
Very interesting content Deano and i feel sure i could try shopping similar at a nearby Aldi....certainly in Aldi buying cheapest Pizza, Meat pie 6 packs frozen is cheaper.Home brand tins of Beans and cheapest eggs are the way to go. Scrambled in a pan is best!..a 5 pack of Aldi chicken noodles are cheap! If you had eaten just 2 sausages day 3 evening meal ( or indeed every sausage meal)you would have had enough left for potato, eggs, sausage + 1 bread roll to make it through day 4!!! Well worth trying this and i wonder if you could eat for 7 days for £30? Long video format is good
Really enjoyed this video Deano - always like it when you do your budget challenges. We don't have a Lidl near us but we are having an Aldi opening in the next few months - be nice try some different foods. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 👍
I like this long format, and for me it’s interesting to see what you can buy,and what you like to eat. The prices are so cheap in UK supermarkets but eating in restaurants seems expensive by comparison.I would love to see 😊someone in the US try to do the same sort of thing on of course a bigger budget as you would get almost nothing for the equivalent of £10, only thing close to the same price was the eggs, but yours are still cheaper.
Yer they lovely noodles, thier my fav for cheap noodles, always have them with some veggies stir fried and throw all I a big bowl, good and filling when your skint 😊
I know it was a "Lidl challenge" not a "budget challenge", but some of those items may be perceived as "luxury", so this was not a very low budget. I can easily live off £2 a day for food, but this was far higher. That egg and sausage roll was my favourite, that looked so nice. Deano cooked that egg perfectly! Although the sausages were definitely not Irish. I have never understood anyone eating Super Noodles. Pot Noodles are cheaper and tastier.
Great video Deano. I usually think that British prices are quite eye watering , but that was a good haul for GBP 10 !! Kind of off topic but I really like the out and about series and can't help but be impressed with how the villages \ towns you visit manage to combine old and new architecture. I think I've actually spotted a "dark satanic mill". Thank you for all the great content.
What a bloody brilliant effort there Deano... You could've made it through day four and possibly day five as well mate... If you had perhaps planned your meals a little differently... For instance... I would've bought a tray of 15 Egg for £1.99... Rather than 6 Eggs for £1.09... Because the 15 Eggs were literally the same price as the one reduced priced ready meal of Chicken Tikka with Rice... So i would swap the ready meal for the 15 Eggs in a heartbeat... Eggs are so versatile that you could've easily made... Omelettes... Fried Eggs... Poached Eggs... Scrambled Eggs... Boiled Eggs... And with the five left over Potatoes you had... You could have easily made either... Chips... Mashed Potatoes... Jacket Potatoes... Roast Potatoes... The very next day. And with the addition of a couple of extra tins of their £0.28 Simply Baked Beans... Which you could've easily bought... Simply by not having to buy the 6 Eggs for £1.09... So on day four you could've had an Omelette for Breakfast... A Jacket Potato and Baked Beans for Lunch... And had Chips with Fried Eggs and Baked Beans for an evening meal... But with a few tweaks here and there... You could've made it to the end of day five at a push... Which would make the average cost per day of just under £2... Which i think is pretty good going... I've seen other budget challenges before... But many of them buy the cheap £1 ready meals... Rather than having more of the fresher non frozen food items... But you managed to do quite well on this £10 budget challenge Deano... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺
Nice video. I do most of my shopping at Lidl but I rarely buy their pre packed potatoes as they are always bruised and bad and I end up throwing a lot away. Their individual baking potatoes are much better.
Great vid 😊 thanks 4 letting us know the best day to to get reduced items Monday lunchtime 😀 i normally go at nighttime but not much reduced stuff thanks
Deano love these videos you asked when you do more budget ones. I prefer the long ones. Also deano when you do scrambled eggs please beat the eggs more because in yours there were white bits that's because you didn't beat the eggs enough. But thanks fir great video . When I use my air-fryer I put a sheet of baking paper in the bottom to reduce the washing up rigours. It works for me! Thank you for the video!

Long video format is good. Budget challenge should include all supermarkets including the high end ones nobody can afford to visit 😂
I'll be doing a £10 M&S one soon 😁
I'm sure I've seen someone shop at M&S multiple times very cheap. Apparently it can be done
Doing this at all supermarkets sounds as a great idea.

Aldi is great Paula
For seasoning on scrambled eggs have you tried smoked paprika? I also use it on spaghetti hoops and baked potatoes.
Beans on toast with brown sauce & black pepper and a mug of Yorkshire tea... The spices from the sauce enhances the flavour of the tea
Sounds good
Love a budget challenge. I personally prefer long videos.x
Love the way you take us to shop with you. Then cook the item to show us .great video really good ❤thank you

Scrambled egg in the frying pan every time. It's easier to clean than a saucepan.

I really like Lidl, although I've found the fresh fruit and veg goes off quickly so tend to only get a day or two's worth.

The " Irish " in the sausages would have triggered alarm bells for me, Richmond rip off ? 🤷😬
What actually makes them Irish 😂
them lidl irish sausages not very nice all mush n soft.....the cumberland and lincolnshire lidl own brand lot nicer think £2
No its good .keep it up
if they split it also means they were not fully cooked
