There was a man named Don Ritchie who was called "The Angel of the Gap", he lived near the Gap and he'd regularly talk people down from suicide attempts. He was credited with saving 160 people who were about to commit suicide at the Gap. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia for these actions. Unfortunately, Don died in 2012, the year before Renea took her life.
I live in Melbourne and l remember this story. Absolutely horrendous. The Gap is notorious for suicides. There used to be a man that lived close to The Gap and he kept an eye open for jumpers. He saved so many lives by chatting to them until they no longer wanted to die. Awesome man that has unfortunately passed away himself.
So awesome...this man was...for being there for those in their dark despair. He was a lighthouse... with a beacon of light, arriving loyally, cutting through that lonely darkness of the lost...♡
Maybe a high wall should be put up and not just a fence and possibly with barbed wire at the top to keep people away from that area. It is so sad that people are ending their lives there😪

Amen! I've been single 3 years because i don't like nor want no booty calls, but rather a happy, safe and trusting relationship. To play with hearts and take advantage of others is EVIL AND LOW AND DEAD WRONG!!
HEARTBREAKING!!!??? Waaaaaaay passed that. It was heartbreaking at the point where the two could never meet up. That is when I suspected/ realized that the 'best friend' was behind it. I kept hoping against hope that the 'friend' had good intentions. Sadly, it ended the way it did.
With a woman that is THAT heartless in how she treated her supposedly close friend, she must have had no remorse or guilt when her friend passed away. Pure evil
I can't believe they can't hold the friend in the third story accountable! She manipulated that poor girl her entire life! Also how can camilla not take any personal responsibility!? This is the saddest catfish story I've ever heard.
Here in Canada that would absolutely constitute VOLUNTARY Manslaughter. And zero mitigating factors.. She would be looking at the full 15 years in supermax prison. I cannot believe the 'super liberal' Aussie government just let that one go..
With a good lawyer, maybe Criminal Negligence Causing Death... Now that I actually think on it.. Yeah, lawyers and the ever broken 'justice system'... Gotta love that system.. Makes everyone's day just effin great.. Nobody wins with Canada's backwards system... Ugh.. That Camilla though... I want to be sick thinking about this story..
My daughter was catfished and I believe to this day she still feels shame over it. I saw all her ups and downs, the crazy emotional rollercoaster, how it seemed her mood was forever controlled by this person on the other end who, refused to ever meet up, despite living in the same area. Now she's much better and dating a real life person. Also.. thanks for that first story. It was so sweet!
I'm sorry you had to watch your daughter go through this. Thank God she is actually a strong person! Prayers that she gives that shame to God so she can be relieved of it. God Bless You and your family! 🙏❤

We must really try to encourage others to not be ashamed of being catfished. I personally don't think there's any shame in being catfished. It's like robbing where they mostly target the weak and rich whereas they mostly target the young and pretty in catfishing. Also I'm sure that embarrassment play a big part in the cause of her suicide in that story because it's possible she found out the truth of the boy.

It was actually very hard for me to follow at the beginning. I have ADHD and autism, so the hand-gesturing was a really big problem for me because it took my focus off the stories. It took 5 videos and I finally got adjusted to the rhythm and I subscribed 😅
@z28 grief what? What does that have to do with anything being discussed? If you don’t want to be spoiled, just don’t go to the comment section and read the comments that are actively discussing the video and it’s contents (which is what a comment section is literally made for). I don’t get what watching a video or any ads (which I didn’t) have to do with it.
The first story surprised me in a good way. I’m so used to things turning out horrifying here, I kept going “is it the exwife? Who killed who??!!” But it turns out to be a nice story 😄
I feel so sorry for Renee. That was so unfair, and the level of betrayal by her best friend was despicable. Everyone should know about Camilla. People should at least be warned.
I also noticed that Camilla had a huge wedding ring on in the last photo of her the video showed...if that's a real ring then I think it's especially sad/messed up she was able to find love and got her special day but still wanted to completely control and take that same thing away from her "best friend". So insane
It's so frightening to know there are so many evil people. Kamila should have definitely been imprisoned for this. Disgusting what these narcissists get away with
The darkness in the first story was the parental alienation the ex-wife engaged in that left a man and his daughter without contact for decades. Notice MrBallen skipped right over that bit.
Lol I literally asked the screen wryly "But where is the dark? No stalkers at least?" Lol Well the dad didn't at first believe her. But that only lasted 3 seconds. 😂
So sad to hear of the young woman Renee, whose toxic friend catfished her. What a terrible waste of life. She either died believing she had lost her lover, or died realising that he didn't even exist. What that friend did may not have been illegal, but she is morally culpable.
@georgiatiefel-nottage6093 Right? She did use someone's photo and posed as a person on the picture. There just has to be a way to prosecute that "person"!
I agree there should be. A way to prosecute Camilla. I’m an Australian and I’m pretty sure Catfishing is illegal here now. I wonder if they can bring charges historically to this case. I’m certainly going to be doing some research. She deserves to be punished for her disgusting behaviour. I wonder if Camilla ever thinks about what she’s done! My heart breaks for Renee, Teresa and her family.
@@NarelleDavis-h9c Camila is a deeply disturbed individual and either needs to be locked up in prison or a psych ward of some sort. She should not be allowed to continue spewing her poison around her negatively affecting people's lives. Unsuspecting people's lives.
I live in Sydney Australia and I remember Renee’s suicide but didn’t know the back story. THE GAP has always been a popular suicide spot for decades - In fact I lost a friend five years ago who had jumped from the Gap one night suffering from debilitating depression. We went to The Gap to pay our last respects as his friends and I cannot begin to explain what a horrifying place it was at night and just so treacherous looking jagged rocks and the crashing waves of the sea that would just take a human body away to oblivion. To think of the sheer unutterable pain and anguish people like my friend and Renee and dozens of other tortured souls must have felt looking down to what to me resembled Hell itself, to take that final step into the darkness makes me weep with unbearable distress. Thank you Mr Ballen for bringing Renee’s tragic story to Global light. RIP Renee, my Friend and all those other tender and broken souls, I know you are all in a better, kinder and more gentle place. 😔🙏💗☮️🐨🇦🇺
I had a girl which was born the same day as me which is yesterday April 6 and we spent our birthdays together from when we met back in 98, but from 2007 I don't really like my birthdays because in summer of 06 she jumped, not from such a horrific place but she died, I knew she had depression I tried the best I can but at some point I realized that no matter how much I love her I just can't help her because I don't know how. I didn't believe that she's able to do it, she didn't beloved how much it will hurt me, she fought that I would eventually forget about her in a year or two but I knew that it won't be a case and that it would hurt me to the end of my life or at least 20 years and whenever I see something like this I just wonder why, because no matter how something is hurting you there is somebody who loves you and when you decide to cut your pain by killing yourself that pain don't disappear it goes to those who loved you and become their pain. Of there is only one person who love you your life is worth of living but people should stop be selfish. If I didn't realized that I would be dead for at least 15 years. Way too many young people kill themselves because in some particular moments they think the world would be better without them while in fact the world is just too harsh place for their gentle souls.😔
The first story was actually so heartwarming 🥰 as someone who doesn’t have a close relationship with their father for similar reasons this hit close to home.
I was so happy to see it go well. I had low expectations when the first words I heard were basically “today’s story is about mike dick” lol I was like dang Mr. Ballen starting an only fans?
Jealous friends are very dangerous. "Your best friend is your best enemy" is true. Camilla is vicious and wicked. The worst is, she never showed remorse. Just wow!
Not every jealous friend is dangerous. Only thous that let their jealousy act out. Why I am so sure about that? Because I tend to be jealous myself. But I know this is my own problem, and I love my best friend. In a way, where I suffer in silence, rather than taking away what makes her happy. Don't blame yourself for your feelings, only blame yourself for your actions. And don't act on strong feeling alone, no matter if it's jealousy, hate oder even love. At least, try to be rational.
@@Leshantra No, anyone who is jealous of you poses a threat if they are around you frequently. Danger means a risk of something bad happening, not a guarantee.
Something tells me it wasn't jealousy. Camilla might have been a closet lesbian who was in love with her bestfriend. Hence, manipulating her to break up with the first boyfriend, and then posing as a guy so she could at least live out her fantasy as Renee's boyfriend.
You remind me so much of my late husband, he loved to tell stories and always made them longer than necessary. He would take 30-40 minutes to tell a 10 minute story, he loved talking. I have even carried on conversations with him while he was sound asleep, I miss him so much, he passed away 5 years ago from medical complications. Thank you for your stories!
Such a heartbreaking story, that last one. Good to note that if someone you are "dating" refuses or makes excuses to "meet up" then it's not likely a real relationship and they should get out.
I am surprised that no-one managed to call the prison he was supposedly being held at to check or even tr to meet up before all this. (Actually, I read why, turns out Camilla was gaslighting Renae as Brayden by getting jealous whenever Renae questioned "Brayden")
@@waldo8158 Yes, currently in one as a result from meeting them in a game we both still play, known each other for 4 years, been dating 6 months, ontop i've met the 3 greatest friends i could ask for online, known them for years aswell and yes i've met them all in person dozen times
I went through a similar story when I was about 19 years old. But thankfully at some point, cat-fish felt bad about playing around with me and tried to disappear and at that point it hit me and I understood exactly who was behind this mess. I confronted the person and got my confirmation. It was someone I knew and considered to be a friendly contact. The charade went on for at least 6-7 months. I was furious and devastated at the same time. It took me a while to recover, but I did. And only now, hearing this story I realize how lucky I was that the author of the fake person started listening to their conscience and let themselves be found out. A couple of years later I met with them and was able to forgive them. Now I'm glad that I did as this obviously could end up much much worse for me. Poor Renee. I don't understand how she could love someone and want to get married without even seeing him. She was very gullible. Her friend is evil, she should be in jail for murder.
Right..and not only that but she never ever spoke over the phone or heard his voice in 2 years+ and also never had any updated photos or just a different photo besides the one with the so called "best friend". This is insane and sad.
But wanting to marry someone without even hearing their voice and not talking to them on the phone even once, not to mention not seeing them IRL once? Pretty weird even for gullible people..
The last story is honestly so heartbreaking in a different way than these stories usually are. Renae was in a healthy, happy relationship and her bestfriend completely destroyed it just for control and probably entertainment. Then proceeds to fabricate a fake relationship knowing she is just wasting months and potential years of her friends life. It gives me a different kind of dread and sadness that all of this was so unnecessary. I’m just thinking about my relationships, romantic and friends, and how terrifying it would be to lose them to fabricated lies that you never even find out were fake 😞 it’s so sad.
Also, it's a great reminder to fucking heed the warnings of people close to you. If all of your family is having suspicions and not so good feelings about someone/your relationship with someone, fucking listen to them.
I can't help but think that if she replaced him so quickly with another boyfriend, that it wasn't such a healthy relationship that she left; it seems she was more in love with having a boyfriend than with that particular guy.
I had a sociopath for a best friend for most of my life. They play these games on multiple levels if you let them into your life, and if you're very close to them, it's really hard to see what they're doing. I lost jobs, friends, and boyfriends because of her games and lies and tricks, but unlike Renee, I was able to catch on and finally get away from her. She catfished, she hacked emails and social media, and she painted me as a villain to everyone we knew when I ended the friendship. She even faked a suicide attempt to regain control of the situation when people started to doubt her story of what happened. These people leave an immeasurable wake of damage, even if you survive them. These deceptions should certainly be illegal. These people can't be allowed to just move on to their next victim.

What a horrendous friend Camilla was. She played with her friends feeling with no care for her well-being or feelings that took Renaes life. Very unfair Renae lost everything and Camilla still had no repercussions to her actions…saw a ring on the real image of her makes me so mad she was able to find happiness or be in a relationship her friend deserved so much more than her.
My exams are coming soon and here I am - well equipped with snacks and juice - all ready to watch the Strange, Dark and Mysterious content - I've got my priorities right!! 😂😂
I had heard of the Renae Case before! The TV show “Web of Lies” featured the story and it was chilling then and it is chilling now. I’m glad you covered it Mr. Ballin, Renae’s story deserves to be told. Such a tragic loss of life for no reason other than the possessive controlling actions of a selfish monster disguising itself as a “friend.”
I'm brazillian and I've never heard the details of this particular story, so kudos for the great coverage! these exploitative and shocking crime shows are really a thing people watch while eating lunch It's unthinkable consuming this much graphic content this casually even as a fan of the dark, strange and mysterious... the way they hound grieving families and accuse the freshly dead people of crimes and gang involvement just for shock value... it's a big big problem It always has this very conservative, punitive and fearmongering tone to all of them, and the worst part is that wallace souza is not the only fearmongering tv host turned politician A neighbouring city just elected one of them as a mayor.... living in Brazil it's a nightmare sometimes
i'm brazilian as well and live in Manaus for more than 10 years and only heard about this story one time in school, but didn't even know they were talking of something that really happened, I thought it was a show or something
I wish I had a school teacher like you...well informed, up front, and honest. Thank you for painting the world as it is. I appreciate your intent on 100% real stories. We need more Ballen's!!
Imagine being the real guy in the picture, how freaking devastating that his image will be forever seen as "Brayden". Although criminal charges couldn't be filed, I'm sure civil charges could be. What a sick woman!
How could that not be criminal? I'm sure there is a fraud angle that could be investigated. She completely created people to mess with another person's reality. I have a feeling that "catfishing" or online fraud will eventually be illegal... In the US, not sure about AU. That is incredibly sad.
@@jenerin905 I couldn't believe that he said they couldn't file criminal charges. It's like with the OJ Simpson case (way back when). Everyone knew he did it, but Kardashian got him off on it. I’m surprised that Renee didn’t think it was odd that she had known her friend since school, but had never heard of her ex before being “introduced” to him. That would ring some alarm bells for me.
THIS! Exactly! I knew from the start that it was the “best friend” yanking Renae’s chain because how had she never met or even heard of her best friend’s boyfriend previously?! Catfishing is scarily common but there really needs to be charges for it when someone is killed, physically hurt, or duped out of money.
That last story is, to me, one of the most frustrating I’ve heard. This woman, Camila, tricks her vulnerable, depressed friend into a fake relationship just to gain control. Then, when that friend calls her toxic and controlling, she gets offended?! How can a person be so self absorbed and unaware? Like, yes, you are undeniably toxic and controlling. Makes absolutely no sense for Camila to be offended by that description.
But that renae girl was dumb, who texts someone they think they've hooked up with for a whole year, didn't meet up or date to get to know the person better? Then hears where this person gets arrested and is convicted of a crime for 2 years, THEN sets up early plans to get married to the person who she AGAIN has not dated or met this person ever. She was delusional, as far as i'm concerned, the story didn't even talk about her status as an individual, did she finish high school? did she go to college? did she have a job? if so what kind of job did she have? i was getting the vibe that she could either be a high school dropout (or maybe not) but stayed at home with her mom, no interest in furthering her education or have a job. Just obsessed over some unknown person on her phone.
@@spyro115 you’re probably right, she probably wasn’t the smartest. Or maybe she was young, vulnerable, and naive. Either way, she didn’t deserve to die, and she didn’t deserve to be manipulated and toyed with by her “best friend”. Not really sure what your point was man, but Camilla was a terrible person and the story is very frustrating regardless of everything you brought up.
Camila is offended because she seems to think life is all about HER. She is probably narcissistic, and so would be offended. I have a sister like this and nothing is her fault, she is always the victim, everything has to be about her, she is always better than you, etc.
Believe it or not, some 'friends' absolutely hate it when you're happy without them. I say this based on experience. The story that Mr. Ballen told was just an extreme example but it is, unfortunately, real.
Vulnerable Narcissism, or Histrionic Personality disorder is often the reason. A few others are linked to obsessions...but those two are terrifying. Every bit as capable at ruining your life as a psychopath - just usually without violence. But make no mistake - it's their goal.
@Witty Witty Ahhhh so this is why you’re so hateful towards woman & called Renae a gold digger & that she deserved to die. You’ve got some issues that you need to sort out pal.
I’m mainly more happy when I see my friends happy, seeing one of my closest friends crash or cry makes me feel part responsible even though I had nothing to do with it, but as of rn he is doing fine with a loving gf of around 2 1/2 years and the bois are always there for each other

That last story is something that I can relate to. One of my boys was trapped in a relationship for three years. To a woman he never met in person and took several thousand dollars from him. We told him that she wasn't real until one day he learned the truth. This person tried to wipe out all of his accounts and destroy his credit. This last story hit close to home. Now he is happily married and has a wonderful family.
My heart breaks for what you and your son went thru. I have kids and it scares me when we hear things like this, especially when things are becoming more and more digital. Catfishing has to be illegal somehow, even if the person is charged with fraud. It's not okay to dupe someone in such a cruel way.

Mate I live in Australia and am pro finally from Melbourne moved to Queensland and let me tell you that if this woman didn’t go to jail she was taken care of and justice was served to this evil woman
unfortunately it isn't illegal in the US unless tangible it's used to defraud the other person for "tangible" items. money, jewelry, etc.those "things" can all be replaced and are bad. but we all know that the human psyche is not something that can easily be repaired if ever. and just bc you can't put your hands on it, touch it, feel it, or even see it, doesn't mean it doesn't have a value. And that is what also confuses me. because in the US when we sue someone, we are also allowed to sue for mental anguish and any subsequent medical care ( pschiatric/psychological) that may be required. and are often reqarded large sums of money for it. so the law actually recognizes it that it has a monetary value. so why wouldn't it have a value when it comes to catfishing?
I live in Brazil, and sadly, I’ve heard worse stories. Environmentalists and anyone who tries to stop powerful people here are all brutally murder, but those cases never get enough visibility, if you could help honor those people who tried helping Brazil and lost their lives by just telling their story it would be amazing.

What a psycho that horrible woman from the 3rd story was! The mother probably thinks about the last time they talked before she left and wishing she would of coaxed her daughter into telling her what was actually going on and how she really felt.
I HAD a friend like that in high school and thank God my mother didn't like her and expressed her feelings to me repeatedly. Thank goodness that I respected my mother, that when my "friend" disrespected my mother and her friends started speaking up against her, that I ended that toxic mess immediately. Fortunately, I knew better when it came to who had my best interests.
That last story was horrible. It makes you wonder how many horrible people are out there. Everybody perhaps had simular thoughts when in pain, but to actualy do something like that, and continue to do this for years is realy sick. It is such a shame that she was ashamed of herself for being lied to. These experiences realy change you if you let it.
I can't believe she continued talking to "him" and in text form At that after not meeting up every time I feel like people are too quick nowadays to label their self as a relationship like In some cases the same very day they met I go on Several dates before I even decide if the person's right or not or I might not be right for them but yeah this is a fd up sad story
I hope karma get her back for those horrible things she did. She didn't even want to apologize for catfishing her. Also I don't think she'll ever have a true and faithful friend even till today.
I hope the “best friend” in that last story is being watched by every law enforcement agency in the world, because a person that manipulates on that level is dangerous and that wasn’t going to be her last crime. Sheesh! Absolutely mind blowing the level of not only evil, but persistence and dedication.
@@denigong9708 Well it should be a crime to emotionally manipulate someone for about two years. This is how some serial killers get away with crime, manipulating emotionally unstable people on the internet, causing them to kill themselves.
@@Thesamurai1999 You kinda touched on the real problem here: "Emotionally unstable people." Remember, Renae's mom tried to reach out to her and help her through what she was going through. She chose to shut her mom out, lied and told her everything was OK, then went and killed herself. If a drowning person refuses to grab a life preserver thrown at them and dies, the problem isn't really the person who pushed them into the water. The problem is that they refused to accept the help from people trying to save their life. And the solution is to identify these people and counsel them so that they *will* seek and accept help when they find themselves in trouble.

Camilla is a trash person. I knew as soon as he said that after that long of a time of not meeting the friend was catfishing her. I was just hoping it didnt end the way it did.
I was catfished and stalked for over 2 years by my ex girlfriend and ended up questioning my own sanity, I lost my job, had a mini heart attack and ended up in the hospital, I became isolated and severely depressed. I had dark thoughts just as Renee, and was about to do the same when unexpectedly, a childhood friend of mine, who knew I was struggling with depression sent me a photo of her and her mom and a voice message from them telling me I'm loved and that everything will be alright, to just hang in a bit longer. I met a guy and he hacked my phone over a year ago . He was watching and listening to my conversations . He’s still playing with me . I changed my phone and somehow he hacked it again . I never gave anyone my number . I think he hacked my families phones too so when I got my new phone he hacked me as I contacted my family . He’s still messing me to this day . I can’t get rid of my phone that’s the only way I can get rid of him . It’s evil And disgusting . He’s angry at me because I found out and hate him for hacking me . How amazing to have such a serendipitous coincidence for Lisa to see herself in the photo of the newspaper article. Glad Michael and Lisa were reunited in such a significant way it seemed like it was written in the stars.
There was another story about two entirely different race people getting married. The bride get too see some of groom's childhood pics. There was one particular photo, which captured both the bride and groom when they were age 5 and 10. They both were visiting a beach in another country , with their parents. There were a few details left out of the third story that give some interesting context. Renae had previously attempted suicide via overdosing on pills but recovered. Camilla was verbally abusive to Renae on numerous occasions, with "Brayden" at one point suggesting that Renae have sex with Camilla. Renae refused. The other detail that really intrigues me is that she had entered into a relationship with a man she worked with named Ian. At some point they got engaged even. Ian realized she was "with Brayden" and told Renae that she needed to choose which man she was going to marry. She chose "Brayden." I think these details should have been included since not everyone is going to read the attached articles and they seem pretty important to the story. Renae's tragic suicide didn't just come out of nowhere, it was telegrammed much in advance.
This Deserves a Spotlight! Mr. Ballen, always gives dignity to the victims. However, this story goes out of the way to present it as a complete out of character behavior. The text to mom alone is alarming. A room full of people, -> Brainstorming! Police??

DITTO‼️ I also have 1 or 2, strange, dark & mysterious (DEFINITELY, "ODD" - AS WELL) "Mr. Ballen" stories that periodically drift in & out of my thoughts. It's a, be kind to your brain- bonus, you didn't expect. I ❤️ it‼️
I recall a similar story to the first one, a guy was flipping through his childhood photo album with his wife, showing her pictures of him as a kid. One was when his family took a vacation to a beach, of him playing in the sand, and in the background of that picture, was his wife when she was a kid.
I actually knew someone with this same story, except the photo was at Disney World. Both he and his (now ex) wife had family photos with the other in the near background. They were both like 5 or 6 at the time of the photo and wouldn't meet for another 15-20 years. It's been over 10 years since I heard the story or even seen the guy, so some details like age and how long after the photos they would meet are...foggy. Local news actually did a story on them. I'm sure it's somewhere online.
Dude is so good at telling true stories. How did you find all of these details? I'd believe you were there and personally witnessed and interviewed every person in these stories lol. I'm forever convinced Mr. Ballen is the king of true stories.
My boyfriend had expressed his worry that some stories might be fiction, as "there is no way Mr Ballen could know these specific details" HOWEVER, that's what really really makes the stories. He is using his belief of how he would react, think, and feel in these people's situations then combines it with available facts about their personalities, applying it to approximate SOME historical details which allows us to feel and experience as if we were there.
That "best friend" in the 3rd story should be held accountable for the death of her "best friend" very sad. Thank you mrballen for your stories and awesome storytelling
@@starlab2926 As much as I like John's storytelling, sometimes I think he doesn't have every single piece of all the stories, just the best he could find at the time of his research on them. There may very well be something that can be done here, this isn't just about "catfishing" a lot of sinister planning went into it. There's definitely a case here if Renae's family choses to press forward.
As a brazilian who love this channel I'd like to complement some of the information about the second case. That channel, Canal Livre, was most watched in the northern region of the country and just few others has access to it. When I was just a kid I remember my dad going through this channel just once and it was really bizarre because there's no ethics or respect for human life, just shock value. That stuff was disgusting and should never be allowed on tv, but the lack of laws against it created the perfect backdrop for terrible people like these men. Today things are different at least. After some time it was just last year that I would really know about this case, because of the meme related to it where that puppet was fighting a random guy while the singer was still playing his song on live tv. It's really scare if you think about how far some people can go for fame and attention, but at the same time it's terrifying how people can be passively dragged into morbid and unethical content like that without even thinking about it, only mesmerized.
Reminds me of this Mexican program called "Al Extremo". They literally show dead bodies without censoring them or respecting the families. Imagine having your son being run over by a truck, dying on impact, only for a sleazy TV program show up with their cameras, shoving those cameras directly at the body and then showing those images while making joking commentary during prime time TV.
That last story is so awful, Renae was so beautiful just tragic how Camila just got away with it too after taking this woman's life from her and pushing her to that horrible point! I hope this haunts her for the rest of her life
I highly doubt it will haunt her the best we can hope for is that maybe people will shame her for what she's done but she probably don't even care about that. Sadly in this case she goes free with 0 repercussions and 0 care in the world. I don't want to imagine how the mom feels.
She seems like she might have some psychopathic and sociopathic traits, so I doubt that she will actually suffer emotionally. You can’t be a normal person to catfish your supposed best friend for 2 entire years.
That last story was so heartbreaking. 😔💔 It’s so ridiculous that Camila got off scot free after she’s the one that lead Renae to take her own life, even more disgusting that she never took responsibility or apologized for her cruel behavior. I’ve actually had “friends” in the past who were controlling & mean to me as well and that can REALLY mess you up emotionally, especially if you don’t really have any other friends besides them. I’m much happier now that I’ve cut those toxic friends out of my life and found the amazing friends I have now. I wish Renae’s story would’ve had a better ending. 😢
💡If she had apologized, that would've put the nail in her coffin by accepting responsibility😕 People need to be more responsible when using the internet for dating, especially when they haven't met someone in person. That internet dating is just dumb in so many ways😒
@@catherineharris4746 she wasn’t dating on the internet her “best friend” set her up. Before that she was with someone she knew and had been dating for a couple of years until the “best friend” convinced her he was cheating and broke them up.
The Netflix docu series “Killer Ratings” goes in depth on the second story. About halfway through, you start to see the deeper details and it appears as though Souza was possibly framed by other, more powerful, politicians in the area who worked together after he did not go along with their corrupt activities such as child trafficking. Truly a heartbreaking story.
That would make sense, especially after he started attacking them for not doing their jobs. The best way to get back at him would be to discredit him. Killing him would have made him a martyr.
That said, Netflix documentaries are notoriously biased/poorly researched. I wouldn't use them as a point of reference, specially less so for foreign affairs.

@@luciparadise6781 they do. I hate when someone says.....everyone gets depressed. Right, at some point everyone has situational depression (death, divorce, ect) which can also need temporary help, but not everyone has mental health problems and chemical imbalances in their brain. Sometimes no matter what you do the "be happy" isnt going to work without medication, counseling, and psychiatric help. It also feels like nothing will help or make you feel "normal" again. It took me 15 years to feel back to normal. 4 years ago i OD'D. My husband found me locked in our bathroom not breathing and no heartbeat. I didn't think he would be home for hours and i was doing him a favor because i felt like a burden. I was soooo mad when i woke up in the ER right after being shocked. I was sent to a psychiatric ward for 2 weeks (not voluntarily), 30 days at a rehab center, and finally found the right psychiatrist that got me the right meds, and i am back to feeling like life is worth living for 2 years now. i am glad i lived that day. I was diagnosed with severe PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, and on the bipolar spectrum (mostly just the down part) I know when people tell someone struggling severely, and for a long time, that things can get better, it seems hard to believe, but it IS possible. In regards to the last story; I know someone who did this to their friend, went on for 6 months to a year I believe. Thankfully the ending wasn't as bad as this, but even after she found out, she suffered with very real heartbreak for quite a while and it messed her up pretty bad emotionally.

Being catfished must be so difficult, let alone catfished by someone you trust, grieving over a lost love is painful enough but grieving and trying to heal from someone who doesn't even exist? Renee’s story breaks my heart. I live in Sydney and around 10 years ago, I was at The Gap too with the same intention. I also texted my mum and best friends apologies and goodbyes, without telling them where I was. My mum immediately called police who traced my phone location and arrived SO fast, before I’d climbed over the railing. The Gap is a notorious suicide spot here, and there are cameras all along it for that reason, as well as suicide prevention signs and even a post with a button connecting to emergency services that urges anyone contemplating jumping to press it for help. I’m sure they already noticed me before my mum called them.. I was loitering a while deciding on the right spot to jump from.. being scared but also so deeply depressed I felt it I had to do it to end the pain. Plus there were lots of people around for the beautiful view, and I didn't want them traumatised by seeing someone die. If only the cops could’ve done the same with her phone and stopped Renee. There’s a story of a man living nearby who would watch the cliff from his house and go to speak to anyone he thought looked like they planned to jump. He saved a good number of people.. you can google it. Not sure if he’s still alive as I think he was an elderly gent.
I'm glad you are still with us Leigh ❤️ And I hope life treats you well 😊I did read another comment saying that he died one year before she jumped. Rest her soul ❤️ Big hugs from Norway 🇳🇴
I just don’t get how a person goes from wanting to be the only person in someone’s life to then not even being sorry that they died. I truly don’t get it. What a monster. I’m Aussie so I’ve actually heard this story before, but this is best narration I’ve heard by far. Thanks Mr Ballen.
i hope your society cold shoulders the CRAP out of her social life and calls her out whenever possible. One girl dies, and the other gets to live like nothing happened.......ugh.
It’s all about control. Camila probably had a terrible life, couldn’t find a good man, etc so she made sure her friend Renee would not leave her, too. Camila almost certainly has a personality disorder or two, so it’s doubtful camila felt love for Renee or, most likely, anyone other than herself. It’s no surprise camila is able to continue denying culpability because that’s what people with disorder(s) do. She’s likely incapable of love, empathy, or guilt. Go watch the show on mtv called catfish. It’s not uncommon for a friend or relative of the victim to be the one doing the catfishing. It’s ridiculous. Don’t ever have a long term relationship with anyone you’ve never met in person! 😝
It's typically about control. They don't necessarily want to be in your life, they want to be able to tell you what to do. So when you "disobey" them, they'll get angry. 😡
that first story was so amazing. it was weird because as soon as you said he got hit with a huge wave of grief and wanted to find his daughter my first thought was “i bet his daughter got hit with that same feeling about him and that’s why he felt that way” turned out to be even crazier than that, wow!

Jealousy is indicative of mental imbalances and many awful personality disorders. Healthy, decent, sane people aren’t jealous of other people.
Reminds of a reddit jenny story simlar situation happened

Such a heartbreaking story, that last one. Good to note that if someone you are "dating" refuses or makes excuses to "meet up" then it's not likely a real relationship and they should get out.
Dude, have you ever known of a healthy/working relationship coming from dating online?
I am surprised that no-one managed to call the prison he was supposedly being held at to check or even tr to meet up before all this. (Actually, I read why, turns out Camilla was gaslighting Renae as Brayden by getting jealous whenever Renae questioned "Brayden")

Especially since I was very lonely at that time in my life.

@@stuarthall3874 she was just young and new to the love scene. That’s normal behaviour in the earlier years.
Imagine being the real guy in the picture, how freaking devastating that his image will be forever seen as "Brayden". Although criminal charges couldn't be filed, I'm sure civil charges could be. What a sick woman!
Hello Nadine Miller.😃
How could that not be criminal? I'm sure there is a fraud angle that could be investigated. She completely created people to mess with another person's reality. I have a feeling that "catfishing" or online fraud will eventually be illegal... In the US, not sure about AU. That is incredibly sad.

THIS! Exactly! I knew from the start that it was the “best friend” yanking Renae’s chain because how had she never met or even heard of her best friend’s boyfriend previously?! Catfishing is scarily common but there really needs to be charges for it when someone is killed, physically hurt, or duped out of money.

How in the hell did she not want to meet the guy to proceed with the relationship ? Insanity...

That case was less catfishing and more about having a psychopath for a friend.

If a drowning person refuses to grab a life preserver thrown at them and dies, the problem isn't really the person who pushed them into the water.
@UCDL8-NJteiqC4mTmfUAwOmg insanity! But love it!
She chose "Brayden."
I think these details should have been included since not everyone is going to read the attached articles and they seem pretty important to the story.
A room full of people,

I recall a similar story to the first one, a guy was flipping through his childhood photo album with his wife, showing her pictures of him as a kid. One was when his family took a vacation to a beach, of him playing in the sand, and in the background of that picture, was his wife when she was a kid.
Wow!
This is like those love story plots in a Korean drama😄.
@@KlockoFettit is, I remember seeing it some time ago but I don't remember where. It's a good story though. 🙂
I know right? 🙏🇺🇸❤️
Oh I don't know, public domain? Anyone can look this stuff up 🙄

I was thinking the same thing. Why doesn’t the family for wrongful death. That is one messed up person.
@@jodymitchell1678
Yes, I agree. And I have heard he has been in trouble for some of his stories, ie adding bits in when he didn't have the details!!
@@jodymitchell1678 There's nothing her family could do. There is no law against what Camilla did; she didn't even say "kill yourself", she just lied.
What's sad is he wasn't guilty of any of it and the people that he was trying to keep out of his City took it over after he died
That last story is so awful, Renae was so beautiful just tragic how Camila just got away with it too after taking this woman's life from her and pushing her to that horrible point! I hope this haunts her for the rest of her life
You're welcome th-cam.com/video/yUpjyW4Xm0s/w-d-xo.html
I highly doubt it will haunt her the best we can hope for is that maybe people will shame her for what she's done but she probably don't even care about that. Sadly in this case she goes free with 0 repercussions and 0 care in the world. I don't want to imagine how the mom feels.
It won’t. She sounds too narcissistic and psychopathic for that. Their minds and “hearts” don’t work the same.
She seems like she might have some psychopathic and sociopathic traits, so I doubt that she will actually suffer emotionally. You can’t be a normal person to catfish your supposed best friend for 2 entire years.
So Camila was the one who made up brayden ?
I am SO glad there is more awareness about mental health & that youtubers are using their channels to promote it!!!!
That last story was so heartbreaking. 😔💔
It’s so ridiculous that Camila got off scot free after she’s the one that lead Renae to take her own life, even more disgusting that she never took responsibility or apologized for her cruel behavior.
And was that a ring on her finger 😡 so she moved on and got married after what she did to Renae I’m so disgusted
💡If she had apologized, that would've put the nail in her coffin by accepting responsibility😕 People need to be more responsible when using the internet for dating, especially when they haven't met someone in person. That internet dating is just dumb in so many ways😒
Those kind of personalities never really change. IMHO
@@catherineharris4746 she wasn’t dating on the internet her “best friend” set her up. Before that she was with someone she knew and had been dating for a couple of years until the “best friend” convinced her he was cheating and broke them up.
That thar internet dating is duyumb, raught kathy??

People who don't have depression have difficulty understanding its impact on an individual's life.
It's a paid promo
You have to find the right person and advocate for yourself. I am so glad mrballen is passionate about mental health. Even if it only helps one person, that is the most amazing gift you can give someone.
I've seen dozens of Mr. Ballen's videos and they're all so good but this one is the best so far.
In regards to the last story; I know someone who did this to their friend, went on for 6 months to a year I believe. Thankfully the ending wasn't as bad as this, but even after she found out, she suffered with very real heartbreak for quite a while and it messed her up pretty bad emotionally.

P.S sorry if i messed up my english
Being catfished must be so difficult, let alone catfished by someone you trust, grieving over a lost love is painful enough but grieving and trying to heal from someone who doesn't even exist? I couldn't imagine. And finding out someone you loved and trusted was behind it is just salt in the wound, now you've lost someone who doesn't exist and someone who is very real but you realize you didn't know them at all.

I'm so glad you are still here. Sending hugs :)
