Van Graan has been emphatic and decisive and is without doubt the best coach in the premier league. He has brought us back from the brink and more. We are playing proper rugby again.
His passing is as good as it gets but it also shows how much he's aware of - he sees every possible gap or play and makes the passes or kicks when something's on. Absolute visionary with impeccable situational awareness.
The 14 man Sarries? Where has the man's game of Rugby gone!!? Pathetic reffing poor as a player even worse as a ref, to let Russell get his ear!! Player ducked into the tackler!! And played on!! No harm done!! Man's game gone soft😡
I see a big issue here that this high tackle was given as a red, whereas the one in the quins / tigers game had arguably no mitigation but was judged a yellow. Here, he was clearly bent at the hips, tried to put in a tackle, and the dude dropped height significantly. Yeah it looks, and probably felt, bad. But there's clear mitigation there. In the quins game there was absolutely no bend at the hip, no wrap, and no sudden drop in height, yet it was given as yellow. It's probably tough to say Sarries would have done anything but lost this game, even if that decision was different, but it's easy to say quins would have won if the decision in their game was different. There needs to be some clear consistency with the reffing otherwise you'll never have the desired effect of making players think twice about upright tackles because they will always know they might just get away with it when the refs can't even agree on what meets what threshold
I think, as did the officials, that you are wrong about Lawrence dropping his “height significantly”. It was a clear red in today’s game. Maybe the officials in the Quinn’s game got that call wrong, but that has no bearing on this decision. The two are independent events
It’s against the laws of the game (an act of foul play) to deliberately throw or deliberately knock the ball with your hand out of the field of play. If a player is highly likely to score a try (in this case catch the cross field kick) and is prevented from doing so by an act of foul play, then the sanction is a penalty try and yellow card for the perpetrator of the foul play.
@@ps6673as leithscrumhalf says, it’s “deliberately knocks or throws”, so you are allowed to inadvertently knock the ball into touch, touch-in-goal or over the dead all line (which you frequently see when two opposing players both dive to try and touch the ball down when it’s bobbling around in the in-goal area). Why? Because it’s written in the laws of rugby union (and has been for a long time, as I learned to my cost when playing about 40 years ago!), however it’s totally legal to do in rugby league (and is quite frequently used as a defensive ploy when the ball is kicked through near the try line) - so you can see why cross-code converts get confused!
What a crap decision re the fed card. the ball carrier was considerably shorter that the alleged offender and on the way down wards so how can the tackler avoid the tackle that he did. a stupid rule.
@Luan-u9n, why don't you have a go at being a rugby referee and see if you can do any better. It was shoulder to the head which is a read card, with no mitigation.

finn russell is a help - not everyones cuppa but his command of rugby is special

This is Saracens worst defeat ever in the Premiership congrats Bath

Even as a neutral I’ll make sure this becomes monthly viewing from here on out - thank you Bath 👍

What a belter!
Imagine being a Saracens supporter 😳🫣
How many tries did Bath score again? Lost count at six thereabouts. What a hammering
Bath need to seize these moments and the premiership is theirs. I would like them to win it.

I dont know much about rugby but why was that given as a penalty try?

He's nicknamed "the horse" because of the long strides he takes when "galloping" down the wing
