Don’t forget cancer. We had a patient in remission that presented with DKA, further work up revealed new onset progression of disease.

There are ketone blood strips like glucose strips and they can check for blood ketones faster than urine especially if dehydrated .

You are brilliant. Yet I want to ask you two things
    1) Do we use D/W 50 or 10 in adults/
    2) Beta-blockers prevent the transformation of T4 to T3 and not the opposite as you said.

Can we talk about why there is so much diabetes and the odds are higher where 25% of kids will have diabetes by the age of 20? The issue is synthetic food; lack of exercise. We should point people in the right direction; cook your own meals; avoid seed oils, use real grass fed butter, coconut oil, olive oil and real fat instead. That will drop diabetic rate to under 10% easily. Let's do something about this. Thanks

Great lecture, and I was interested more in the NOT use Na bicarbonate in DKA patient, because I hate it so much, 3 days ago I had a patient with a PH of 6.8, and a bicarbonate of 1.8, I didn’t give Na bicarbonate, patient did well and the next day her PH was 7.34 and her bicarbonate was 16! Patient was discharged on day 3 in a good condition, the cause of her DKA was an abscess on her finger, which was drained and taking care of .

Yes, the smell of ketones is very strong, and bad. You can smell it just by someone walking by you. And being in close proximity, like traveling in the same bus can be nauseating.

    Did hiperpneea decrease lung temperature?
Because at TWiV Nr 659 at min29 virologist Christian Drosten indicate very low tissue temperature better to replicate SARS COV2.
