I would've thought it would've been way harder to find strangers to allow you to scan them. Maybe they just don't understand what can be done with something like that. Next thing you know you're in a bunch of AI "deepfake" prons. I sure as heck wouldn't let some randoms on the street 3D scan me or anyone I cared about.
This is interesting, I've been studying how to integrate photogrammetry and 3D scanning to the world of Engineering. As always, I look forward to the perspectives you all bring to the world, Many thanks in advance
Might be too big for all of it but would be awesome to see a scan of the Forestiere Underground Gardens. 10 acres of underground tunnels, courtyards, rooms hand dug by one guy. Has fruit trees and shrubs that are over 90 years old.
Bro what a dope challenge! Fantastic work! I'd love to see you guys talk to a bunch of business's, like corridor that have studios and ask to 3D scan their entire building to then use as apart of one of your challenges in your example render or as one of the prizes they get the corridor building as a model to use in one of their next renders or somethings, anyways peace!
Awesome idea for a render challenge! just like those flip books with a character that has swappable heads, torsos, and legs, you could render a video of someone walking and split it from top to bottom then mix the submissions top, middle, and bottoms randomly. 👍Thumbs up if you like this idea! ♥
It's weird to think that it's become so easy to have access to scanning tools.Anyway, although some objects are as polygonal as my first 3D models, overall the scans look very good.
Photogrammetry isn't the same as LIDAR, correct? I'd think LIDAR would be better in everyway, no? Except then you wouldn't get the textures, so maybe a combinations of both?

@@SaltNBattery yeah LiDAR and photogrammetry are similar but different. LiDAR is faster, but photogrammetry gives higher quality results, at least in my experience
If you could make a non janky scan of a boat, that would be pretty cool. Also, you should try making a large scale scan using a drone, which would be pretty sick.
What a fun challenge! Those scans look great. Trying the app right now!

Hahaha that's perfect! Let's go!
