Hello, Pro-Tip for Trade Routes: 1.) You can easily cause issues with wait-to-unload. Tip : Don't use it if you want your trade routes to be running constantly without delay. Delay can cause your previous islands to run-out of stuff if its supply route (most are). 2.) Don't use multiple items in same vertical slot in trade screen. Tip : So basically if you have six lots for trade route for trade ship. Use one vertical slot for one type of item only. This will reduce the constant confusion/errors you are facing. E.g. : Use 1st slot for penican, 2nd for parka, etc. even if you want the ship to go multiple places.
The thing is, I understand that the arctic is not designed to be "pretty" as far as the layouts because of they designed in such space/organization challenges. However, it's actually a region that needs ornament packs the most because it ends up being the only region with so many small gaps, like 1x1, 2x1, etc. These awkward spaces end up making the region look bad, which is too bad as the art itself and the visual design I think are the coolest, and most attractive in the whole game. If mods could be monetized, I would make an arctic mod pack myself as my day job is a 3D artist in video games, but it just takes a lot of time to do that stuff. Oh well. Enjoying the series!
I love your videos and am excited for the beautification of Crown Falls and the palace!! Also, don’t put so much pressure on yourself, you’re doing great!
I love this series! I’m the effectiveness to the max kind of player and it’s so satisfying to watch you’re let’s play! Your cities are so beautiful! I love it!
A tip help your cities to be even more productive and efficient: in the arctic, you can use the Arctic Lounge to affect your residences and change production chains. Such as you can use copper (instead of brass) and whale oil to produce the oil lamp. Other worlds you can use trade union. There are many many more items like the "Custom Designer" that replaces one required material to another that is easier to obtain in order to produce the goods. Hopefully that's helpful!
The Arctic is such a thorn in my side. I've got 3 of the gas islands going and still running out of gas. The amount of supplies and airship resources they take up just to keep them up is ridiculous. I really hate RR tracks going through my main cities though. So I have to choose, tracks or the Arctic, lol. This game I already went through the trouble, so I've cut my gas power plants to a min and only in Crown Falls and my starter island. So I am relatively stable there, but it was such a headache to get it right. Ive ended up using 3 production islands plus 3 gas islands in the Arctic along with 5 airships to keep all the gas islands going. One change in the wind or slow down can really kick yr butt, lol. If you haven't looked, gas power plants chew through gas at 1.33 per min it takes 6 pumps to supply 1 station! So, ya there's that. Later game when you can extend the range of yr plants, then the issue is much easier to deal with, lol. Great job!
I feel you, I decided that screw it I'm going oil, and the fact that theres only 1 trading post and the loading speed is slow asf, AND u have to start over again if u want another gas island
Hi Darren, you produced this video two years ago (I'm catching up on your Anno series) and saw this one didnt have a lot of comments: so here is an extra one because I know you like them 😊. The time-lapse you did in this video with at the end just music was so relaxing to watch, wonderful.
That lag is probably the snow. Snow is notorious in gaming as being a huge processing hog, most development teams avoid it if they can. It's possible the Arctic DLC wasn't properly optimized for it at this point, considering most of the game doesn't have snow at all. Hopefully by now, it's been fixed.
I was replying to mails when I checked your trade route progress @34:58 and thank you for making my day. 🤣 I don't really know why, but I guess I'm currently so extreme into making everything I do super efficient that that trade routes ridiculous design really made me laugh 😆. Thanks ❤. I really needed this bit of "it works, OK?" (don't look so doubtful!) in my life right now
Use in between island a trader post and sell all the ingredients you think might over stock your route. It has 2 benefits you make 👍 money 💰 and you not waste pressure’s resources
I am watching this just now so maybe you've fixed the trade route situation but I may suggest taking one slot for each item without throwing them out. For instance instead of taking 3 slots of pemmican, just take one slot of 50. Ship is touring arctic and distance between island is quite small so it keeping the cargo shouldnt be a problem. But thats just my opinion :D
Hmmmm not sure. Obviously if production is greyed, it means a building has stopped for some reason (full, not enough materials) My only guess for consumption would be if there was disaster? Like fire/sickness or maybe a Festival preventing the need for something. That being said, I'm 90% sure that the bar doesn't grey out for disaster/festival, but I can't think what else would stop it. Oh maybe a timed item? not sure that timed items do that but it's a guess? If anyone knows, reply!
@@WhatDarrenPlays Pretty sure it means that your citizens are getting that resource from somewhere else that isn't your production chains. Like if you had a trade route or something. I could be completely wrong though!
If it's an intermediate good or raw material, it maybe a problem with another good in the production chain. (If coal consumption is greyed out, you might not be producing enough iron ore)
Great video! You don't need to pressure yourself so much, the way you build efficiently and beautifully is already really good! Since you are needing influence so much, why not expanding to more investors while you are doing docklands?
I know you can set docks to automatically sell things to the AI, but can you set them to auto-buy things? Like maybe you could do that for a few essentials (e.g. coal) in certain places, just to supplement your own routes.
Hey, Darren Just wanted to say really enjoyed the series overall just had a quick question if you thought about giving Imperator Rome another after it’s latest update I really enjoyed your Carthage let’s play is the only reason I ask. I may self walked away from the game a while ago because it was such a mess but I picked it up again after it’s latest update and I have to say I was impressed. Are you excited about the new dlc for anno 1800 @RepublicOfLetsPlay? You get your tourism, old world expansion and possibly better trade depending on how they make the system work.
I know it’s not ideal but maybe you should tinker with your influence a bit to keep the content going. I know a few tools you might could use todo that

One day when the tugging is done we'll take our leave and go. As far as I've heard the fights still on, the line's not cut and the whales not gone! Like someone pointed out - stop pressuring yourself dude. I mean most of as have lived through 30 episodes with you :P But yeah an episode dedicated to reorganising King William Island would be cool, also if you have a sketch of a planned layout, that would also be cool to see!
I’m just catching up on this series… so it’s three months after recording/release… I wonder when you’ll realize you have 20 influence tied up on charter routes! And a bunch of ships you own, doing nothing….
How come u never get an alliance from the women lol but u do for everyone else as she's the only women left because the other is an pirate which isn't really that good
OMG, LOL. I have to ask, do you know or watch FOX gaming? As far as I can tell he has a very small channel. But he is a late game specialist, that is my term, I've never heard him brag on himself. My point though, I've watched a handful of his videos, and I never thought I was super knowledgeable, but this man makes me feel like I just heard about the game and had no idea what it was, lol. Some of the ways you can do things in this game never even occurred to me. Did you know that you can have 1 building affected by 2 trade unions and double up on your specialists? So much info...my brain is overloaded. I'm sure many know this stuff, sorry, I'm like a child, I find stuff out and just love to share, usually I find out after everyone else. Well, if you have not, check him out, I would assume he would like the views, I dunno.
Whaling was (and still is for some northern cultures) an essential way of life for many. And as sad as it may have been, humanity will always be more important than animal life. Sorry 🤷🏻♂️🥺
It’s very annoying that you are not upgrading your warehouses and ports. That’s a fkn waste of resources. And you keep saying everything is full there’s no space!!
During timelapse 22:28 I said I placed Arctic Lodges - I meant Ranger Stations!
You really need to stop putting pressure on yourself,
You're doing things beautiful and efficient at the same time,
Just great,
Take it easy body 😉👌
That time-lapse... was so comfy. Pure art with that artic soundtrack~

I was writing an essay while watching this and I used one of your favorite words, Astute.
When you release this man is naming his islands after towns I live near 😂 and live in one of them

Hello :) I’ve been binging these episodes every night for a few weeks now. I really enjoy your content and look forward to watching more!
You should do a massive park on swords with the two empty slots between the differents classes maybe with a botanical garden or a zoo idk
Yeah I was thinking of doing that, a sort of Artisanal Garden below the Artisans. I'd move that straight block of houses first though.
That’s a really good idea , it will fill the empty blanks

I had to have enough storage for multiple ships hitting port grabbing things like coal when they bunch up like a convoy to avoid that issue
You can always leave the arctic for a bit to build up in the old world if you need more influence

Finally caught up, thanks for the awesome content, really looking forward to beautiful docks
Should really put an "Season 2" or something in the thumbnail to differentiate from S1 videos.
Amazing video as always Darren!
12:38 you should audition as "voice actor of miscellaneous sfx" for Ubisoft
You should upgrade your Trading Posts.
