I think if they added a melee variant of chaos marine it'd mix it up enough to make it more enjoyable for players since it won't be all flamers and off screen range units lol
The thing I hate about Chaos...marines are too common. You are fighting an opposing SPACE MARINE. Their marines should all be extremis... I mean...aren't you? There should be more of a variety and LESS of them on whole. The Hell brute should be a mission boss, shooting at something with that much armor AND chaos power, with a bolt rifle of any type should be a joke. It's CHAOS... there aren't enough cultists, cultists have NO variety...where are the daemonetes? Where are the horrors? The claim of "unfinished faction" is absolutely true. It lacks balance and variety.
I dont like chaos for a few reasons. I like to melee and the marines constantly teleport away so I have to chase them. The orange stomp attack is very inconsistent. Some times I dodge and take no damage others I dodge and take damage. The flyers are rather annoying. Flamers. Lesser sorcerers reanimating the dead marines. Terminator's rocket attack. I like doing mission 3, and Obelisk is pretty fun. I just really prefer fighting the Nids. Even with Zoanthropes and spore mines.
I feel like chaos wouldn't be as bad if we had better ways to recover health and armor. The abilities that do this are mostly reliant on melee, which chaos is apparently allergic to. Fighting the Nids feels fine for the most part aside from Zoanthroaps. Fighting Chaos really makes me feel that a class like Apothicary should have been in the game since launch, giving us enough room to not have to rely on parry/blocks as much.
The disk guys are awful if you're on controller. You need to constantly snap 180 degrees and crack off headshots which is perfectly doable on PC but on controller you need to be amazing just to get by. Their speed, mobility, and or survivability need to be tuned way tf down outside of lethal which is supposed to be ball crushingly hard.
It's dumb that the chaos marines have no melee varients except the executioners, the flame aoe comes out too fast for being forced to melee them most times. They have a ridiculous amout of poise as you said too so any sort of adjustments would make them more fun to play
It switched for me. I have so much more fun now in Chaos missions than Tyranid Missions. I can get pretty sick of endless massive waves with spores that Tyranids do every time. I just had the longest solo run on latest Tyranid mission (Termination) and it took me around an hour and a half. I actually for the first time completely drained an ammo resupply box! Never had to do that before. Latest Chaos mission (Obelisk) took me 30 minutes. Trying a really fun new build were I use the sniper as a cloak and stab build with a Carbine. Actually works and is really quite fun.
Chaos is basically ranged focused Tyranids faction. Disc shaman are the zenothroaps of the faction. Zenothroaps were adjusted to be less annoying, therefore, Disc shamans should be adjusted to have better timed indicators and maybe have their ranged non-indicator swipes have indicators. Every attack they have, off screen or on, should give an indicator of parry this or dodge this. Then I think we’d be good.
I like chaos cause fighting Helbrutes is absolutely epic everytime and terminators are a pretty fun fight as well. I honestly don’t mind chaos and I play primarily assault or bulwark
The only new flying enemies are very VERY annoying on ruthless/lethal purely because of how much damage they can take as well as how much and how fast the move. Using a fully upgraded grenade launcher bolt rifle they were taking 3 grenades and still flying around it’s insane, not even the rubric marines can tank 3 without going into execute stagger
Chaos are boring and annoying. I really don't enjoy fighting them as much as Tyranids. Sabre just simply did a poor job on this faction and one of the devs even admitted it.
I cant even do a mission. I've tried 6 times today, and every time I've played, I've either got to the end and it just be a black screen, or I would disconnect midway through the game, even though my ping was only 20 - 23.
I like the missions, but there is mostly ranged damage and you can do nothing about it. The flamers are insane! And the terminators are even worse. Melee doesnt do alot, or good luck getting there.
I played one on average the other day it was so boring it felt like a completely different game I don’t think chaos is annoying they’re just way more boring on all difficulty 😊
From the Rubric Marines with flamethrowers, to those floating b*******, sniping cultist gnats, and the hords birdheaded trash mobs, i can certainly say that I prefer fighting the Tyranids over the forces of Chaos. Even the spore mines they're better than them.
The way chaos is set up in this game just does not mash with the general combat loop of the game. They have few trash mobs and are mostly ranged elites while said ranged units are incredibly tanky for how much dps they do (enraged terminator missile spam across the map moment), this game is almost entirely revolving around parry and gunstrikes to generate dmg and armor to stay alive thats why chaos feels so shit to fight compared to nids wich consist of primarily melee focused units and hord tactics so you can fish for gunstrikes. They can do two things to "fix" this, either: A.) Massivly increase the Tzaangors and Traitor Guardsmen and reduce the Chaos Marines or B.) Massively buff weapon dmg across the board (so you don't have to fish for parrys to dispatch enemys in a timely manner) and make natural armor regen actually viable (you know, like how SM1 exterminatus worked just don't take dmg for a 10s and armor starts regening). Passive armor regen might as well not exist because its 25 fucking seconds of not taking dmg (good luck with that) and the "regen delay per kill" perks are absolut trash tier
First and foremost, like weapons styles, sabers needs to publicly state what archetype they want chaos and tyranids to be, it would seem to be : 1) nids: very large very aggressive swarms that attack non stop and spawn very fast that you can disturb by killing majoris+ 2) 1k sons chaos: very small numbers but hard to kill (by shields, evasion, ranged attacks) troops that take lots of time to spawn but have to be dealt with one by one. And then they need to stick to it. Currently i feel like the AI broke again and chaos spawns as fast as tyranids. Also they need to either make ranged damage less potent or give more perks to weapons to get defensive options or make chaos attacks in melee more often to make them more bearable to fight against. Also the chaos missions may need to have more ammo crates on anything that is not mission 3.
Just as a reflexive pretense, I've completed Chaos missions, OG Lehtal too, with Assault and I think I play really well against them. But the issue. Chaos is not fun to fight against and the missions are agonizing in design. Chaos not being fun: Not having an execute on the Bird demons is so lame and is a drastic increase to difficulty without it. Gun strikes still work but executes would also just be cool, just as they are with the disc bird- love fighting it. Mission Design: "Ok what hole does the square fit into?," slow rotating train that stalls what should be an epic finale of launching a ship into Chaos, and speaking of a finale delay, the rotating lands before the Sorcerer fight, I have players who keep it spinning forever, and the chalice limiting range against the most ranged enemy is painful. I think if the mission designs were better people wouldn't have to suffer the hardest part of fighting Chaos; it would be like a Tyranid mission having you in a long slim hallway with Zoanthropes, snipers, and en-raged blasters. If the designs didn't make their problems so much more glaring than I think we'd be better off but combined with their absolute punishing gameplay to melee, my favorite play style, it makes more than enough sense why people have such issues with them.
They’re just fundamentally not fun enemy to fight. They remind me of the knights in halo4. The covenant were such a fun faction to fight against, but then you got these boring bullet sponges.
This. Just like the Knights in Halo, there's next to no player feedback on hitting Chaos marines. Compare that to Tyranids (blood effects, flinching, more stagger). So the Chaos marines (Halo knights) aren't satisfying for a player to engage/fight, but the Tyranids (Halo Elites) are.
It’s always been that way. Chaos suck to fight in SM2. It’s just plain unfun. Although I have ran the new mission on ruthless a few times to try out the blocking weapons. Lethal sucked but over all it’s ok but not really “fun”.
I dont mind Chaos that much, but I do hate 2 things about it, the human snipers as they do INSANE damage for a 1 shot kill enemy type, 2 seconds of focusing on closer ranger enemies and Im getting shot by 3 shots and im on 1/4 hp. Second thing is hallucinations duration, I like the idea of the debuff but it seems to last for ever. The Green Goblin from Wish is definitely annoying, but as a Vanguard/Heavy main, Im taking them out usually before they get close, or put them in the Execute phase for closerby teammates. Just have to get your teammates to lay cover for minoris enemy types
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the hit box for the flying chaos enemy’s orange swing down is soooo janky. I swear i’ve been a meter off beside where they swung and I still get hit by it.
I'm not sure what I want. I'm trying to force myself to play more Chaos missions, but in general I feel like the gameplay they offer completely counters the game mechanics. This is a combat brrawler game I think, with some guns, I guess. Maybe this is where the heavy/sniper shines and the other guys should clear trash? I love fighting nids though because it's all about the melee/block/parry/dodge. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I can't "perfect dodge" the melta shots and get gun strikes on Chaos? Maybe you can, but i haven't seen it? I dunno. Nids feel better to fight than Chaos does, and I agree I feel like the Chaos guys need to whip out their chain sword and fight me rather than stick a melta in my face and blast me.
it took a few good hits to try n get the space and timing to dodge that stupid unblockable attack it does. and the one you can parry has no parry icon so to the new/or unskilled player these things shred you. dont get it twisted i like the fact they added them. and this isnt a rant. but i do hope we get more than the flying goat harry potter.
the banner @ 4:30 was clutch. as far as chaos, i may be in the minority but i really like all the ops. i just like the game i guess, blissful ignorance and all that stuff. lol
Good video, thanks! My opinion: If fighting chaos was the same as fighting the tyranids then people would be complaining about it. Just enjoy the challenge, a game becomes boring if its too easy. That being said, fuck the flying minotaurs
Chaos is definitely harder because almost everything has ranged damage and the little men with green laser point snipers take way too much damage for how many of them there are, but I played lethal the first time today after about 90 hours grinding others out on ruthless, and got the survivor helmet in 1 day, but the chaos missions make running melee classes a bit unfun as youre at a massive disadvantage
Obelisk is the easiest chaos mission. Finished it at 1st try on lethal as assault without any knockouts even with broken parry right after update. Any other chaos mission gave me so much more butthurt its incomparable. And about flying tzaangors - after you play few missions on headshot focused sniper you can just crack them down with bolter pistol and absolutely demolish with heavy bolt pistol. Nothing as annoying as poison tyranids or zoantropes, not even close.
These devs are solving problems that dont exist! Leave the game alone unless you are adding something for people to collect like new weapons, armor or develop your characters.
To me tyrranid missions are worse because the annoying warriors are basically a "screw you parry me or die" unit that forces you into a repetitive scripted fight. It's infuriating to watch boneswords covering barely a third of their bodies deflect every single bolter round. I prefer the cover-shooter style of gameplay of chaos missions over the lame scripted parry spam with nids. The flying tzangors at least can be shot down, though they are supremely annoying. They really need to buff bolters across the board
I think if they added a melee variant of chaos marine it'd mix it up enough to make it more enjoyable for players since it won't be all flamers and off screen range units lol
Been saying this, agree completely
or make chaos marines stronger but in fewer numbers. It doesn't make sense for a single squad to take down an entire company of chaos marines anyway
please go and be a develeoper at saber ! XD
The thing I hate about Chaos...marines are too common. You are fighting an opposing SPACE MARINE. Their marines should all be extremis... I mean...aren't you? You know CHAOS MISSIONS are awful when most gameplay footage of lethal difficulty is on every other level OTHER THAN anything chaos related. 🤣
I think most people just do the lethal chaos missions once for the achievement and never touch them again.
@@famalam943 • I was thinking the same thing!!!
I’m really surprised Chaos doesn’t have a swarming horde to fight. They have a perfect choice with Blue and Pink Horrors.
Zoans, Boss Zoans, and 7 majoris at once make me prefer Chaos. Plus fighting the Helbrute pretty much every time is epic.

No joke man! I actually make sure to run with somebody on PC when i do Chaos missions now strictly because of this 😂
It's dumb that the chaos marines have no melee varients except the executioners, the flame aoe comes out too fast for being forced to melee them most times. They have a ridiculous amout of poise as you said too so any sort of adjustments would make them more fun to play

Tip for the bulwark use the plasma pistol a charged shot or 2 stuns the disc goats

I get lost in obelisk and can never make it to the end. All I do is end up running in circles and back to where I started. Then I get killed, kek.
