Dude Mitchell's voice was beautiful, so clear and steady. His voice is so distinctive. I could listen to him anyday
What the heck are these two doing? Why are they not all over our TVs? This performance gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it. These two run rings around nearly every other contestant since. I loved Fatai, and gosh Mitchell, why you are not in every musical to date I don’t know. You have such presence and an amazing voice!
Still coming back to watch this video 8.5 years later. Greatest battle on the Voice AU ever IMO... it brings me chills every time I listen to it.
I hope both these two carried on with their careers in the music industry... top quality talents!
My grandma who’s 97 this year watched this in 2012 and Mitchell’s performance really touched her and made her cry. I asked her why, she said the distinct difference for her was that he showed simple, natural and honest emotion, nothing put on and the magic of his voice did the rest. The vulnerability and power in his voice reached deep into her soul.
this is my favorite battle EVER on any version of this show (although I'm US-biased, so there might be a lot I haven't seen)-- it's just so heart-breaking and emotional and gorgeous. flippin' fantastic.

I think she's excellent, but in this I thought her expression was contrived. Mitchell just opened his mouth, and it was so clear! Never a hitch with his voice.

You know I’ve just finished watching The Voice AU and I have to agree that this guy Mitchell Thompson should have been and would have easily made it in the top 4 of the competition or even further. He has all the qualities and his voice is truly amazing sure there are no arguments about that. Competitions like these are frustrating sometimes as the best singers don’t always get picked to go further. People want raw talent, he’s such an example, best wishes to you Mitchell Thompson!

Oh I still love this so much. My face version of this. So much emotion. Yes Fatai you could hear her cry but it was Mitchell's job to be the role of the man as defined in the lyrics and the emotion he brought whilst being strong was so epic. Most watched performance of any musician by me ever. And I've not watched a reality singing contest since. Where was the save?! 😂

Too bad Mitchell was sent home after this. An absolute outstanding voice with so much depth and character to it. He is also one of the most natural, honest and humble singers/performers out there. I am a true fan of his voice and integrity. I wish him the very best in his next stage of career development.

Ok I too was surprised that Fatai got in over Mitchell with this performance but if you check out her videos on her channel now you will be like, Mitchell who? LOL Fatai bloody slays the fuck outta every song she covers and she's still only 19 years old AND she don't play when it comes to her skills on the guitar either. Never get sick of listening to this marvellous duet rendition of Rihanna's hit song. Brilliantly performed by both Mitchell & Fatai. Both singers deserved to have made it to the finals but the quality of last year's show, The Voice - Australia was extraordinary and exceptional.

@@AyazKhan-nv2ql Fatai did better here. Fatai explored more emotion, showed more dynamic variation in her singing and steady vibrato at the end of each phrasing, whereas Mitchell was shaky on quite a lot of his notes and didn't really bring the song to life. I'd have picked Fatai too.
