The Knights Templar.. a facinating & addictive piece of history!
Id love to know where this film was shot?
As some of the (very good actors) sound as if they hail from the far north of Britain,
Ie Yorkshire, Northumberland etc.
You cant mimic a northern accent as well as these actors unless youre from the area.
Its wonderfully dark & dystopian
The land looks unforgiving & rough..
Im sure there was more colour in these ancient times, more than we give credit to, but the use of minimal colour in this film which is skillfully used, just adds a mysterious dimention.
I live on the north Northumbrian
Coast, just less than a mile from the sea & during explorations over the years, ive found caves in the cliffs but could only look in to the sandy gravel base level caves which go back a very long way & you can see certain excavation marks from ancient times to enlarge parts of the caves.
The higher up caves ive not had access to.
But these sea cliff areas are so desolate & i doubt anyone has ever done archeological research on them.
Above the cliffs topside but sloping down the incline before the sheer drop below are huge Slabs of rectangular stone, many broken through time but others intact but covered in moss & undergrowth.
They arent naturally formed & their dimentions are too precise so have been hand cut & tooled.
Unless you know they are there, scattered on the cliff tops over many many miles of coastline
No one would look for them.
Ive found many, if they ever had
Words or carvings they have long vanished ( mainly by time & salt air)
Ive contacted a few archeological groups about these caves & slabs but never had any replies... odd, when our coastline
Is steeped in history going way past the Viking era on our shores

Here! Its just the atmosphere of this film, reminded me so much of our often stark & desolate coastline & inlands of Northumbria!
There was once a Knights Templar Castle up here, as a hostelry before going up to the Scottish Borders & the sanctuary given to the Templars
Fleeing from persecution.
There isnt much left of this place near Yeavering Bell, the once capital of ancient Northumbria.
Just a large hill & parts of a Bronze Age settlement.
