The camera features several different modes from auto to manual. If you want to have some control over the picture taking process you could choose the live view option. This would allow you to experiment with exposure compensation, saturation, and white balance. We would also make sure to keep the camera's sensitivity (ISO) as low as possible. This will ensure the best quality. Also, having a support for the camera will prevent image blur from camera shake.

One thing he did not mention was the fact that the battery does not last long it lasts for around 3-4 hours at the most I recommend carrying an extra battery for the camera that way you always have a spare, besides the fact that the battery time does not last that long this camera is great!

I'm really loving this camera! I'm a novice and it has so far been really easy to use. I am however having a problem with transferring videos via wifi. When I sync the camera with my laptop, all of the images go automatically and I can find them with ease, but none of the videos make it that far and I can't figure out why. I'd like to avoid having to buy an adapter for direct transfer from the card to my laptop, especially since the wifi makes it so convenient. Any suggestions?

Hi, you are correct, there is a time limit for videos and no camera can shoot more than 29 mins and 59 seconds, the camcorders would get useless without that time limit for DSLR cameras.

Hello Anthony Gatt. Date and time stamp can be turned on by accessing it in your camera's menu. Press the Menu button, choose Date Stamp on the camera tab, and then choose the desired option. Please note that once you add the date stamp it can not be edited.

Hi Kyra! Canon did not focus on the video as much as the image quality on this camera. You will get clean and clear video, but it will be a bit limited compared to DSLR cameras.
I bought this camera not long ago and I have a question about it, Can I shoot the movie in manual mode? Because when I leave it in auto the digital noise is just horrible, it's so grainy even in a bright scene like outdoor shooting on a very sunny day but I have no problems with photo shooting tho.

I'm into racing so I wanted a camera that took good pictures from a zoom and allow me to crop with the pictures staying clear and not pixelated , I almost got a nikon, what's your take on those compared to the canon , I read they are close as far as picture quality but the canon had a faster auto focus witch was perfect for me with the racing pictures I take
I am 15 and I just bought my first camera being the sx530hs I still have to learn about the meanings of ISO shutter speed and tons of other stuff but so far quality is good
When shooting video indoors in the scene mode we would recommend using also the low light mode, also, we would suggest setting a higher ISO for more sensitivity.

I love my camera, but when i go to video mode the camera shuts off. i have reset the camera and still it does not work I reformatted the disk and i and having the same problem. should i try a different memory card i don,t know I don,t think that is the problem the camera worked just fine when i first got it. the videos was great. its been about a year maybe it needs a repair. I am looking for a solution before i send it in.

I have this camera and it's great for outdoor sports of my kids. I do still need to do some editing. However, the indoor gym shots, especially basketball, I can't get the nice crisp, clear shots. It really struggles with the lighting, and you can't get the details on the face. I've hunted all over to figure out how to solve these issues. Any suggestions?? Hey Stacy Parkinson. It would be a pleasure to assist you. I could see why you are concerned. Typically when taking photos outdoors during the day time there is more than enough light for this type of camera to focus and freeze with a relatively low sensitivity (ISO) level that produces a clean, sharp, and detailed image with low image noise. Take the camera inside and that all changes as you see. In order to freeze action, you need a fast shutter speed which ultimately reduces the amount of light that gets recorded. In addition, the lens when zoomed in restricts quite a bit of light causing the camera to have to increase its sensitivity to the given light. This will introduce "noise" and reduce image clarity. If you are looking to improve the image quality for indoor sports I would recommend looking into a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. When paired with a good lens not only will you see improvements in your indoor photos but you will also notice a bump in image quality when photographing outdoors. Unfortunately, for the bokeh effect you need a lens that can do that, and the lens on this camera cannot be changed.

Hi Rowynn, you will need to purchase an USB cable or plug the SD card directly to your laptop to transfer the videos recorded.

Hi Laura, it could be that it is broken, the humidity will not affect it. As for the batteries we suggest you Vivitar or Canon batteries for it.

Hi Kyra! Canon did not focus on the video as much as the image quality on this camera. You will get clean and clear video, but it will be a bit limited compared to DSLR cameras.

I bought this camera not long ago and I have a question about it, Can I shoot the movie in manual mode? Because when I leave it in auto the digital noise is just horrible, it's so grainy even in a bright scene like outdoor shooting on a very sunny day but I have no problems with photo shooting tho.
Unfortunately no, as "Video Recording" and "Manual" are two separate functions on your camera dial.
Hello. Just wanted to say thank you for the video. It helped with some insight on different things the camera has to offer. But I do have a question about it that I am unsure about and I do need help with it. I want to record with this camera (video), but I notice after I use my battery that was fully charged it maybe lasts up to 30 minutes. It should make the beep by default, if it is not making it you should contact Canon as it could be defective.

I have the same camera, but for some reason it won’t turn on, it’s only a few months old, the battery isn’t old, I didn’t drop it or do anything to it, i have taken very good care of it, and for some reason it won’t turn on, do you have any idea why this is happening? Also I heard there’s also a switch that if you hit it, the camera might not turn on,, what is that switch and where is it?

Hi! This is a very informative video. But, I have a problem seeing how you are navigating the functions. For example, I want to use the self-timer and cannot see how the settings operate. Upon my attempts to set the self-timer, the option to scroll is not there. Which means I am obviously doing something wrong.

Hi! It depends on your preference, if video is more your thing, the SX530 is better suited, but if you don't need the extra zoom or improved video capture get the SX410.

It has a "unique" size and it will need a dedicated adapter ring, you can look for the FA-DC67A adapter ring.

We would suggest using the portraid mode when shooting photos for best results.

Hello Punit prakhar. Yes you absolutely can. The camera also allows you to switch from AF to manual focus by pressing the left button on the cross keys (MF/macro).
I'm new to the photo taking life , I just got one of these canons , so far I love it and this video was extremely helpful.. I'm into racing so I wanted a camera that took good pictures from a zoom and allow me to crop with the pictures staying clear and not pixelated , I almost got a nikon, what's your take on those compared to the canon , I read they are close as far as picture quality but the canon had a faster auto focus witch was perfect for me with the racing pictures I take

I'am having problems with filming indoors. The video looks a little fuzzy. Any suggestions? It works perfect outdoors.
When shooting video indoors in the scene mode we would recommend using also the low light mode, also, we would suggest setting a higher ISO for more sensitivity.

I love my camera, but when i go to video mode the camera shuts off. i have reset the camera and still it does not work I reformatted the disk and i and having the same problem. should i try a different memory card i don,t know
I don,t think that is the problem the camera worked just fine when i first got it. the videos was great. its been about a year maybe it needs a repair. I am looking for a solution before i send it in.

I have this camera and it's great for outdoor sports of my kids. I do still need to do some editing. However, the indoor gym shots, especially basketball, I can't get the nice crisp, clear shots. It really struggles with the lighting, and you can't get the details on the face. I've hunted all over to figure out how to solve these issues. Any suggestions?? Hey Stacy Parkinson. It would be a pleasure to assist you. I could see why you are concerned. Typically when taking photos outdoors during the day time there is more than enough light for this type of camera to focus and freeze with a relatively low sensitivity (ISO) level that produces a clean, sharp, and detailed image with low image noise. Take the camera inside and that all changes as you see. In order to freeze action, you need a fast shutter speed which ultimately reduces the amount of light that gets recorded. In addition, the lens when zoomed in restricts quite a bit of light causing the camera to have to increase its sensitivity to the given light. This will introduce "noise" and reduce image clarity. If you are looking to improve the image quality for indoor sports I would recommend looking into a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. When paired with a good lens not only will you see improvements in your indoor photos but you will also notice a bump in image quality when photographing outdoors.
