There are 3 stages of EV costing. Initially it is much higher than ICE but environmentalist won't mind. It costs similar to ICE in second stage. It is getting much cheaper in 3rd stage where EV is cheaper than ICE as far as Chinese car market is concerned.
The EV craze started with a dream and is turning into a nightmare. Limited long distance travel, longer time for recharging when on said travel. Replacing batteries will cost thousand of dollars with some replacements at $14 thousand dollars. Finding that your $60 thousand dollar EV is worth $10 thousand dollars 3 years later is some heck of a surprise. Everyone wants to get sunbeams from cucumbers .😄
You bring up some valid points about the challenges of EV ownership. It's essential for consumers to weigh the long-term costs and benefits before making the switch.
All of that is fossil fuel propaganda and misinformation. For god's sake stop sucking up propaganda and do some proper research - or are you afraid of looking at proper evidence in case you have to deal with the fact you might be wrong?
This person is not a car expert but a political activist acting on behalf of the fossil fuel industry - a deperate but still powerful industry facing an existential threat. The video is full of half truths, outdated or irrelevant information, cherry picked data and misinformation. It is designed to make the audience think and act in ways that benefit the fossil fuel industry and not themselves. These people are on the wrong side of history. EV and battery tech is rapidly improving and becoming cheaper. EV sales are booming while ICE sales are tanking worldwide and the legacy ICE industry has already started a death spiral. Don't allow yourself to be manipulated by this propaganda. Just do some basic research and you'll see what is really going on.
I've done research and this video is closer to the truth than you are. EVs will never be more than a niche segment of the automotive industry. The issues that led to the adoption of ICE over EV more than a century ago still exist today. EVs have certainly improved on many of those issues, but they are a very long way from being a better option for the average consumer. And at the end of the day, the decision will be made by consumers, despite government attempts to drive the market (which are responsible for the illusion of EVs becoming more popular). EVs are definitely not 'booming'. Many manufacturers can't seem to give them away. EVs litter the list of Top 10 vehicles for days-of-supply on dealer lots. It remains to be seen if consumers will adopt EVs without artificial incentives, but it frankly doesn't look good for EVs.

@@AEWLEE They don't exactly lie in this video but they only think about the worst that could happen in every single thing related to EVs. I have one since almost two years now and I never even had to go near a workshop apart from a few days ago to make an appointment for the first ever service two years in! Since then, I about halved the energy cost (electricity for my Polestar 2 compared to gasoline for my C-Class S205 facelift). Apart from changing the tyres and filling up washer fluid once I didn't have to pay anything for the car that my gasoline car wouldn't have me paid as well (like garage, other parking cost, washing the car, whatever). I also have a Z3 I use for fun during the warmer season. Compared to that one, I drove around 2.5 times the distance with the Polestar 2 and it only cost me about 30% more in electricity to do that than what it cost me in gasoline to do less than half of the mileage with my Z3. And the Z3 even had to have his annual service done which also cost me money. All in all, for my driving profile, there's nothing better than an electric car to be honest. There might be cars which would catch me even more while driving them, which have more "soul" in them. But for everyday driving and with the ability to charge the car at home, no way there's anything cheaper than that. And I can tell because I write down everything my cars make me pay ;-)
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's always refreshing to hear real stories from EV owners. Your breakdown of costs is super helpful for anyone considering making the switch!

Thanks for highlighting the different stages of EV cost and how they're playing out in different parts of the world.
Burp, do house charging, buy tesla insurance, buy tesla for battery guarantee
Or, just buy hybrid.

Buy a Chinese EV ( stop the raised import duties)
That's definitely a valid point! Supporting local EV options can be a great way to encourage better policies and lower import duties.
