in 1850 the Mission was to get a singular bucket of water to wash hair with. For a long long long time even commonly in other countries, you used a bucket of water to wash your hair and body; if you didn't have a big body of water around (like your mom:)
Personally id just use a smaller amount of hot water and a rag to scrub myself down. Put on some clean clothes, then wrap myself in blankets like a burrito.
Crazy how the snow and shit lasted 1 week then quite literally went back up to the usual 90+ degrees the week after. All I gotta say tho is that I had my fill of snow for about the next 10 years, never again please
nicks idea was actually the best, whenever i go to mexico and theres no hot water we use a contraption almost exactly the same as the deep fryer to heat up the water in buckets its just a coil you plug in and leave in the water and it heats it up
They had a good plan with the kettle because it boils fast and will keep the water in the bath warm so when they add the pots it would not just be warming up cold water. it will heat up the existing water.
Nick... You guys were thinking way to hard for the hot water, When there's a perfect easy solution. 1st. Fill the tub with water. 2nd. Uninstall the tub. 3rd. Put the tub on top of the stove. 4th. Turn stove on. 5th. Sit in your new hot tub.
Those handle style shower wands, I think, are crap. Even hooked up out of the box it requires an exorcism to full ensure there is no leaks. I did new house installs for all home fixtures (tub, toilet, shower, kitchen, water heater, water softener, etc) and those shower wands were the bane of my existence. The rubber gasket that is inside where the wands threads onto the hose, goes out of place so often, plus tighening it too much or too little can cause an issue, and most of them are made out of super cheap plastic.... the showerheads and wands that have metal/brass parts at point of connection are FAR more reliable.
Nick's idea of using the fryer's boiler to heat the bath would work. They all just thought "Lets do it WHILE HE'S IN THERE". Electricity doesn't just stick around.
The water lines to the guy's tub are probably plastic tubing, and used to do tub installs... you tend to leave the lines really long so you can hook up the water to the underside of the tap before you move the tub into place. As you move the tub in place you want to coil the flexible water tubing carefully or else you get a kink in the line. Order to check thing in is: 1) Am I the only unit in the building that has this crappy pressure? 2) Is it only at one fixture that I have bad pressure, or is my whole unit that way 3) If it's only one fixture (the tub), is it only the one side that has the problem, or does the pressure suck for both Hot and Cold side? 4) Has this issue always been there since you moved in, or did it happen suddenly or over time? If you find only that fixture has an issue and both the Hot and Cold sides are low pressure, it's very possible that a but of sediment has worked its way up the water lines into the tap interior itself and has become jammed - partially plugging it up. (In this instance it's possible that unscrewing any 'aerator' at the tip of the tap - the small screen that aerates the water as it comes out - could show a buildup of sediment inside the screen)
Had 3 days and a half 2 winters ago here in Canada, Quebec in many cities , slept and the house was at 6 degrees celcius (minus 15 celcius outside so we got lucky) and cooked on a camping stove , let the food outside in the snow, and was about to think of ways to make a chimney using a window haha
Honestly this power outage was kinda cozy. I was just by my fireplace watching some movies I had downloaded most of the time making hot chocolate and good food over the fire. I’m glad I was more prepared than others. I didn’t have power for like a week so it would’ve been bad if I wasn’t.
3 cinder blocks in a trifeca, wood in the middle, get a 20 gallon drum on top of all 3 cinder blocks, add fire to wood, last boil the water thats inside drum then hop in when the temp is nice.
Lol all you need is a big bucket and a mug you only need 2 pots of boiling water and add cold water and mix it up till it reaches your desired equilibrium and then use the mug to wash your body by way of putting water on your body then soap it up then again water to get the soap and filth off your body and that's it
meanwhile my dad and I bring a fucking roaster inside the house, and use propane to heat up the house, while having the windows open, and boil water mix it with the cold water and put in the tub.
