This pilot blew up enough that they changed it to be the first episode of the series. They put a short announcement animation about the coming episodes that is a cute animation with some small context. The next episode is fun too! The episodes will come out one by one like Helluva Boss. I agree listen to the fan music made for the series. My personal fave is The Digital Circus song by Lydia the Bard.
Fun fact! "You didn't experience a gameshow in there, did you?" Is a reference to a short film made a few years ago by Gooseworx, the same person who made this! It's called "Little Runmo" and there's a scene at one point in which the main character gets eaten by a monster and has to play a gameshow inside of the monster's stomach to see if he survives. The short film also has some similar themes of video game characters experiencing terrifying existentialism :)
This series is definitely a different beast than most of what's been reacted to on this channel -- a brightly-colored, friendly-looking exploration of depression, existential dread and psychological horror. You're in for a _treat!_
Finally someone gets it. In this world, you don't need to eat, drink or sleep, but you still can. And as Caine said, it's a world where anything can happen. You're trapped in a world where all your fantasies can be made a reality, and to me that sounds better than being trapped in real life where you have to find a job, pay bills, have the anxiety of interacting with real people... I mean the Digital Circus has real people, but most characters in there are Caine, Bubble and the characters during the adventures, which are all AI. And no matter how real the AIs' feelings seem, they aren't actually real. So it doesn't really matter what you do in this world. You can hurt them if you want. Who cares ? They aren't real. And for real interactions, the other humans are there. You're not alone in there. If I were, it probably would get upsetting after a while even for an introvert like me. You're literally being transported inside video game worlds and you're free to do whatever you want in them. Caine can create an endless amount of various worlds and characters for you to interact with. Also Caine wanted to make an exit for them, not understanding that they want to leave, not an area labelled exit. But that also means Caine is open to hear about what the humans want. If you want a specific kind of adventure, you can just tell him about it and he probably will be okay with it. If you disliked a certain adventure, he'll probably also take it into account. And he's not the one trapping the humans there. All he does is try to keep them distracted so that they don't go insane. The only real threat is going insane and abstracting, but if you enjoy your time there, it probably won't happen to you anyway.
I'm soon excited for this!!! I love this show!!! You should definitely check out the songs for this show! I recommend Digital Hallucinations Jax Toy Wacky World Digital Land Funny Things These songs are great and my personal Favorites and they have the actual Voice Actors singing them!
I highly recommend watching a fan song for this that has the actual voice cast in it, it's called Digital Hallucinations by OR3O (I personally recommend the lyric video version over the music video, both are good but that's just my personal recommendation) Also, I know you're probably going to just focus on the actual episodes, but I also recommend the videos "POMNI WAKE UP TIME TO GO ON AN ADVENTURE" (because it has some sneak peeks of upcoming stuff and it's stuffed full of jokes) and "A Very Special Digital Circus Song" (it's a merch ad but it's a funny merch ad, with singing!)

Also it’s the first time for Zooble’s VA doing voicing. As she is known for animation clean up artist for Hazbin Hotel Pilot and more Indie animation shows

@Ghost_R4cc00n I'm not as familiar with everyone else on the cast, but Gangle's VA Marissa Lenti has been active in the anime dubbing scene for years now, and Pomni is voiced by Lizzie Freeman, who I know best as supporting character Bopo from _Dust: An Elysian Tail,_ system AI Cardinal in _SAO: Alicization,_ and Drone 029 'Amda' in fellow Glitch production _Murder Drones._ And of course, Kinger is voiced by Sean Chiplock, perhaps best known these days as the voice of Rito Champion Revali in _The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild._ Glitch got some big names for this series.
.hack//sign was a very popular early 2000s trapped in a VR video game show. Its fun mysterious and kind of philosophical. Its cool in that most players can still log out and you learn about their offline lives but they log in because they feel a need to help those who cant. Quite a few trigger warning in the show but overall a hundred times better than SAO in my opinion.
_.hack//_ and _SAO_ are pretty different from one another, save for the 'trapped in a fantasy VRMMO' inciting incident. I mostly referenced them in chat for the ease of comparison: this show is like if _.hack//_ were set in a lost point-and-click adventure from Humongous Entertainment.

I think 'dead character has to play a game show to return to life' is a recurring gag in Gooseworx' works. Couldn't say _why,_ though.
