Please, more Seinfeld. Season 1 and 2 have some good episodes but they haven’t quite gotten on to the Seinfeld formula all way at that point. Season 3 they really start to nail it and then season 4-7 are stellar with season 4 being, imo, the closest any sitcom has come to perfection with only 2 episodes that aren’t an A yet still funny.

Something to keep in mind is that “Season 1” actually comprised a pilot episode aired in summer 1989 that didn’t get picked up, then four more episodes that aired in summer 1990 that finally sold the show, which is why Elaine wasn’t in the pilot episode, and Jerry’s father was played by a different actor. The first actual season, “Season 2,” began in January 1991.

That's true for so many things, but particularly with a lot of comedy (and romantic comedy) in the 80's and 90's, where the humor revolves around missed connections or an inability to communicate, or a message somehow getting lost along the way.
On a different note, I've always kind of thought that Goldeneye should have been the final James Bond film. Aside from the fall of the Soviet Union, James Bond just doesn't really work in the age of smart phones and the internet, which is why they had to reimagine him in the Daniel Craig era as more of a Jason Bourne type action hero. Having to bring a bunch of cool spy gadgets to exotic locations to do spy stuff just doesn't make sense anymore when an iPhone can do half the stuff his gadgets can, and basically all information is online anyway and can be accessed from anywhere on the planet.

Hey, Jen! Important to note that _Seinfeld_ was created by Larry David and Jerry. But it was really Larry David who was the creative genius behind the show, not so much Jerry. Larry was the showrunner and head writer (basically the equivalent of a film director, but for a TV show). So, after _Seinfeld,_ you NEED to watch _Curb Your Enthusiasm_ next, which was also created by Larry David and it also stars Larry as himself. _Curb_ is basically just rated-R _Seinfeld._ And also since George from _Seinfeld_ is based on Larry David's personality, _Curb_ is pretty much George Costanza the TV show. Larry is a comedy legend (more so than Jerry). But also, it'd be great if you watched some clips of Larry David now (and get to know his iconic voice) because Larry makes many, many cameos on _Seinfeld_ (either on screen or just his voice) and it would be really fun for us _Seinfeld_ fans if you were able to recognize Larry's cameos as the show progresses. Just a suggestion.🙂

You might genuinely be my favorite react channel lately.
Such fun picks for shows, and you never feel like you're deliberately over _or_ under reacting.
It's a strangely prevalent problem that people who intentionally decide to film themselves reacting to movies seem like they're withholding their natural reactions.

Before this show came out, we were going to have a special "Parent's Weekend" in college, and the student body had a large amount of money they said they were going to bring in someone like Steve Martin, Robin Silliams, or George Carlin. Instead, they went for a then-unknown comedian named Jerry Seinfeld. There was a huge uproar around campus and many of us didn't go, even making up names for him like "Hairy Mindmeld"

Yes! More Seinfeld! It’s one of my top 5 shows ever. It’s funny how you commented about the show like “what is this?” It’s famous for being “a show about nothing” and it’s hilarious. For a show about “nothing” that appeared 30 years ago I still encounter funny situations in life today that were topics on his show. My friends and I refer to them as “Seinfeld-moments” when we talk about them.
I look forward to more Seinfeld reactions!

Oh my gosh, excellent! Seinfeld! If you watch the whole series, I'll be totally here for it. And the show gets funnier and funnier with each season. I love that you notice all the music. That will also keep you entertained. As for opera telecast innovations and robot butchers, I'm not sold. Btw Brian Regan is another comedian who works clean and is hilarious. (Very different style from Jerry Seinfeld, but equally funny.)

Clearly still being developed in the first series.
I cannot think of one Jerry Seinfeld joke that made me laugh. He is insipid as a stand up and just unfunny.
The Seinfeld series works because of the ensemble and writing. Jerry is basically the straight man.

@@Cheepchipsable yea i always said the OTHER 3, plus some recurring sides like Newman, Putty, Peterman, both sets of parents, etc are the off the wall characters, while Jerry was always the 'regular' one i guess. certainly the stiffest.

I was working in a regional theater in the late 80's/early 90's. We had two comics do a father's day show. They sold about 1,200 of the 1,800 capacity. One comic I recognized from Aliens and Beverly Hills Cop. The other I had never heard of before. They were going to come back the next year but the better known comic got a tv show. That comic was Paul Reiser and he got Mad About You with Helen Hunt. The other comic was going to come but I got a call from his manager and had to send it up to our general manager. That comic got a pilot and had them reschedule to later in the year. That show got cancelled as well when the show got picked up and Seinfeld was born. If we had Paul Reiser and Jerry Seinfeld do a show a year later they would have sold out an entire week.

I'd love to see season two. Seinfeld is great. I think for Gen X it's came in a time when lot's of us were just getting out of college too so the idea of being single in a city and having adult friends resonated. I've heard Friends appealled a lot to Millenials and gen z as this sort idealistic group of friends which i thought was interesting. For me the show was always Seinfeld. Probably because my friends were not at all like the people on Friends.
