She wasn't born deaf. She lost her hearing due to an illness I believe. So she was able to sing before her hearing loss. She uses the vibrations to help her. She is very talented!

I can't think of how she controls her volume... that's the most difficult part. Because I believe she can remain on pitch, and obviously rhythm through the instrument.... but volume??? All I know is that when she sings, you can turn the volume all the way up.
