Hi Megan, loved your video. My husband told me to watch your video because we are planning a vacation this year. We have never been and we both want to go. Your energy and enthusiasm is making me excited to start planning. I can’t wait!!!!!!
Hi megan! Im planing to book a trip there. I went as a child and always loved it. Ive saved a month of paycheck to give my future husband (who has never left pensacola) a surprise trip. I watched several videos on youtube and enjoyed yours the best! Your speaking and positivity really shines thru the video so i wanted to send you a message to keep making videos. Your really good at what you do and wanted to send some positive vibes your way! Thanks! Jason-
Looks lovely. I love your spirit. 😊💖 My husband and I are going to do a trip down the gulf coast of florida this February for our anniversary. Is Sanibel nice in February, too? I’m considering bringing our dog so I need dog friendly destinations.
I've been told by shellers that they have a lot of luck on Bowman's Beach and Turner Beach. I just went this year, and we mostly found a LOT of cockles and sand dollars. A few whelk. (Like - got back today! LOL.)
There are LOTS of fish. The water isn't incredibly clear so you probably won't be able to able to see them incredibly well snorkeling, at least that's been my experience. But it's great for fishing! And you'll fins lots of sand dollar and conch and hopefully see dolphin and Manatee. Check out Sanibel Dolphin Tours (covered in my video) and The Thriller Dolphin ride, and the Eco Tour at Tarpon Bay Explorers. And of course the fishing pier by the light house if you're looking for good fishing!
The wife, the kid, and I are planning to drive down to SANCAP this spring. Literally every time we've gone, we opted to stay at the Sanibel Harbor Resort and Spa. I must say, however, that the Sundial looks nice. But, do we break tradition, and stray away from the tried, and true? Hmmm.... Anyway, great vid. You should have FAR more subs!!
Sundial Resort has them for people staying there, as does I BELIEVE South Seas Resort in Captivate. For the most part, I think people bring their own umbrellas/chairs. I haven’t seen a lot of sunbeds/umbrellas for rent.
Hi! We used Royal Shell Vacation to help us find a place. We stayed in the Sundial Resort Condominiums. I believe you can book both through Sundial and Royal Shell, but Royal Shell let's you actually choose your unit, whereas when we tried to book with Sundial, the would not let us know the exact unit we were getting. Since it is so important to us to be right on the water, we booked through Royal Shell. (There is a link in the description!:))
I typically go in the summer when it’s really hot, so I don’t personally bike a lot there, but LOTS of others do. For beaches public beaches I like the beach by the lighthouse and blind pass.
Very happy to see the corgi! Sanibel is one of my wife’s favorite places (she grew up nearby and uses seashells in much of her art) and we’re hoping to get there soon. I bought her the just-published book "The Sound of the Sea: Seashells and the Fate of the Oceans" by Sanibel regular Cynthia Barnett...you might like it.
Hi Megan, really enjoyed your tutorial video. I am planing to go there next month with my 3 years old daughter so this is very helpful. I am wondering if your place is easily accessible to restaurants and grocery shopping cause we have a toddler and it is important to us for commune. Thank you very much.
Will you have a car? (I STRONGLY recommend having a car.) If you have a car, Sanibel is pretty small and you can be almost anywhere in 5-10 minutes. Walking is a bit harder and they don’t have public transportation that I know of. If you stay at Sundial (or in the Condos) there are restaurants in Sundial you’ll have access to and I BELIEVE they have a little minimart. (I haven’t used it in a while so dunno if it’s still there.) The two main grocery stores are Jerry’s and Baileys - they are a short drive!:-)
Hello Charleen: Sanibel is a beautiful place, Its a nature Island first and foremost. I lived and played music on Sanibel/Captiva Islands for about 20 years. Either right on the beach or in restaurants. Every thing Megan said is true, However, sadly here is what salespeople who are trying to drum up business don't tell you about. No- See-ums. A No-See-um is a sand flea that lives in the sand. They are active all year around. They don't bite you, They dig into your skin and defecate on you. The fact that sales people will not tell you that really bothers me. I was told by restaurant owners and people I worked for at hotels to never mention this to the guests. I have a problem with people who are not forthright and upfront about the product they are selling, And knowingly bury the truth to unsuspecting & trusting tourists just for financial gain.
Almost every hotel/resort in Sanibel has a pool. I personally prefer the Gulf while I'm there, but don't you worry! Pools abound! Just double check when you make a reservation that the place you are staying has a pool you can access!:)
So - they DO ---- which is why Sanibel Dolphin Tours works really hard to not produce a dangerous wake. There IS a history of boats who don't know what they are doing producing a big wake and then accidentally hitting a dolphin. Sanibel Dolphin Tours never creates the large wake for the dolphin to jump in and always drives responsibly!:). (I believe the ONLY tour boat that creates a wake is The Thriller and they have special permission because of the expertise of the captain.)
Memories I had when I was a child @ a super expensive beach. Thanks Mr. & Mrs Tamblen.
and now its completely destroyed :( this was one of my favorite spots in florida to go for vacay :( this is really sad

Currently that condo cost around $2600 a week if anyone is wondering.

You have my sympathy after Hurricane Ian wrecked the place. 😞
It’s so depressing.
Im going in a couple weeks and I would like what’s the best beach to look for seashells my kids love looking for them.
I've been told by shellers that they have a lot of luck on Bowman's Beach and Turner Beach. I just went this year, and we mostly found a LOT of cockles and sand dollars. A few whelk. (Like - got back today! LOL.)
Looks like a great time
Im travelling there tomorrow. Are there many fishes, etc?

Make sure not to leave fishing line and hooks in the water.
@@daisycocoa2557 amen!
I am also a swimmer!! I'll join you at the buoy! So glad you got to see dolphins!

If you love the place your stay regularly, stick to it! No sense fixing what ain’t broke!:-)

Hey, thank u. Great video. Are there anywhere umbrellas or sunbeds at the beachtes at Sanibel island? maybe at the bowmans beach?
Sundial Resort has them for people staying there, as does I BELIEVE South Seas Resort in Captivate. For the most part, I think people bring their own umbrellas/chairs. I haven’t seen a lot of sunbeds/umbrellas for rent.
So beautiful! Where did you stay again? Thank you for sharing!

Royal Shell has a website and you can pick out an exact unit. (We like Loggeehead Cay) I've used them 3x and was very happy.
Thank you for the great tips. Hoping to travel to Sanibel next year with my family!
It's so great! I hope you get there! Say "HI" to the dolphin for me!:)
A shark swam by wife at Sanibel. The water can so be so murky, you never know what’s swimming around you.
What is your favorite beach on Sanibel? Do you like to go biking there?

Corgis are the best!

Gee don't they worry about running over the dolphins?
