Yes, you had concrete shingles not wood shake, they were banned. Most people have no clue about these wind driven fires. My family built Newbury Park, my cousin is Wendy Drive, she went to Palisades High and her family evacuated out of Brentwood. I've seen many of these fires since the early 1960s. I did not vote for Newsom but it is not his fault, nor is it some conspiracy.
When everyone concerned comes to the stark realization that the reality of the outcome that we are witnessing was the objected end, then perhaps we'll finally see some appropriate response from the public.
@chris7487 They defunded the firefighters, and didn’t build and maintain the reservoirs, they allowed environmentalists to stop controlled burns even though controlled burns have been used for 100s of years, they allowed criminals to not be prosecuted, supposedly 95% of wild fires started in CA are man made
Also, In the last 25 years, California voters have approved over $27 billion in water resource bonds. Yet, within that same timeframe, the state has not built significant new water storage or conveyance systems that would help our statewide water supply. This lack of action, despite voter-approved funding, has led to a state of perpetual drought. California’s cities and farms are pushed to undergo substantial water rationing, and farmers are forced to pull nut and fruit trees from the ground, leaving thousands of acres fallowed. Proposition 1, approved in 2014, was supposed to provide $2.7 billion for water storage, yet ten years later, much of this money remains unspent as projects that were first proposed in the 1980’s, such as the Sites Reservoir, are tied up in a bureaucratic permitting process and conducting further studies. Had this project already been built, it would have provided the state with 1 million acre feet more water to get through this challenging drought year, but unfortunately, not a shovel of dirt has been turned. SACRAMENTO's SOLUTION? "Use less water!"
FALSE Prop 1 money has been used and many projected started and completed. I checked the website. Also, Los Angeles itself expanded the San Fernando Valley Catch basin and captured 96 billion gallons of storm runoff, enough for 2.4 million homes for a year. Other counties are doing the same. San Diego has the largest desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere and provide 10% of San Diego County's water supply. Urban water use is only 10% of water allocated in California. Prop 1 covers all usage. I'm tired of writing this correction.
The staffing budget actually increased but it was allocated to overtime pay. Public unions are part of the problem. Increase the budget it will just go to bonuses and overtime.
plenty of water, what are you talking about, it was water pressure. Upper Stone Canyon reservoir fully functional, same water for hydrants used for homes.
Water is fine water pressure is the problem. There is no system in modern cities that could have supplied the water pressures needed for this output outside of those cities that have naturally high water sources. Gravity is the main source of water pressure.

yep , and when ol' Gavin was called out on it he said " that's a city problem , not the states " - um - you're in charge of the state bud - you've been a failure ever since you started office .
The Santa Ynez was down since Feb 2024 for repair but the much larger Upper Stone Canyon reservoir full and used in the fire, so was the Encino reservoir. LADWP is in charge of pipes for both homes and hydrants. No hydrants are designed to have 20 open at one time. Fire Fighters are trained to save lives, first, not property.
Upper Stone Canyon Reservoir feed the homes and hydrants water, fully functional. Santa Ynez is only one "tank" off line for maintenance since 2024. The hydrants on same line as homes, they had water, so did the hydrants, just not pressure when 20 are open at one time.
As a home owner in Palisades, maybe you should have taken the time to ask why your reservoir was empty as far back as last Feb, and did something about it.
I think these suburban communities should have their own mayors and responders. If I had to wait for the big city I live outside of, there would be no response, they don't respond to things within the city. Create your own government Pacific palisades.
Absolutely 💯 👍. Like West Hollywood did. It's insane to have Brentwood, Venice, Pacific Palisades and on and on be unincorporated neighborhoods of Los Angeles. 💯 percent dumb.
I know he said it was about 45 minutes later, but I’m curious, wouldn’t that be about the amount of time it would take to get those helicopters in the air, loaded with water, and at the precise location? I don’t live in Cali, and I’ve never had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a wildfire in person. But I have seen helicopters take off in person, and I know they can take a while to get elevated, even on a day with good weather. And then you have to wonder, are these helicopters already loaded with water, or do they have load up on that as well?
The point is, they were warned days before of the fire risk! They should have been on watch and seen the smoke themselves (not waiting for residents to report) and also be ready to respond quickly. 45 minutes doesn’t seem reasonable when you have advanced warning
When the winds are that high planes can be grounded. I live here, have since the mid-1950s, been in firestorms, it's not that simple and we all knew this area was going to go up one day. Many homeowners did not clear the brush from their homes even with the risk of $500 fines. The truth is not being told, it's all too political.
45 min is a reasonable amount of time to get a plane up in the air and on seen . I am a Republican, but I can still call BS on both sides when I see it. A plane isn’t parked down the street ready to go to be there in five minutes. Even if a pilot is sitting in his plane, ready to go it still takes a few minutes to start the engines then more time to taxi than the time it takes to get on seen at the fire. So 45 minutes is absolutely a reasonable response time for a water tanker.
You can't tell from that video for sure but it looks like there is no or minimal access to the area. No sane person would drop fire fighters into all that brush not to mention there's no way to get support equipment in there. Where are all the fire roads and fire breaks that used to crisscross the hills? Policies with the wrong priorities is a major factor. As for aircraft support, unless they are kept filled with water and all the aircraft preflight checks have been completed and depending on the distance, that response sounds about right. Now where there is street access you'd think they could have gotten to those locations more quickly. Unless you've been around a brush fire you can't comprehend the amount of heat and with the added oxygen fed by winds it would be nearly impossible to stop - unfortunately. Not having any sort of emergency plan for evacuating residence is a major crime!
7 min drive from 17281 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 to Palisades Country Estates, 17586 Camino De Yatasto, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272. Do we know where the 1st helicopter departed from?
I worked for a large paper manufacturer. Our paper mills were located in isolated areas and were worth hundreds of millions of dollars each. All employees had to undergo fire fighting training. We were taught that the first minutes after a fire starts are critical. If it goes past that, it becomes difficult to control.
I don't really have a lot of sympathy for the lawyer in this video, who likely did nothing more than stand on his deck and watch and then call the fire dept. "criminally negligent." I know someone who is a retired California firefighter (missing a digit on his finger due to an accident), and you would be surprised to hear how spread thin the firefighting departments are. If anyone is criminally negligent, it is the politicians who promote policies that reduce basic services like firefighters and police while promoting some "in vogue" stupid policies like giving homeless drug addicts free needles to keep them addicted.

All those swimming pools in the Palisades and yet the fire department ran out of water??? They didn't use the swimming pool water when they could have.
How would you pump water out of the pools on to the flames? Whoever comes up with a high pressure pump and fire hose system that could be used should patent it and sell it. There must be a way.
I saw a news story in which a guy in California did exactly what you're talking about. He got some sort of swimming pool pump a few days or even weeks (I can't remember exactly) before the fires started. When the fires came near his house, he fired up that pump and eventually drained his pool. The fire didn't harm his house. He even did that at some neighbors' houses. He says he ended up draining about 4 pools.
Some homeowners did use pool water and saved their house. A month ago in the Malibu fire guy with diesel pump and pool water saved his house and his neighbors. We've known that for years but people did nothing. This is not all about politics.
Really sick of these people who are not fire fighters telling the firefighters how they screwed up. Lol “I have seen fires” “ I have lived here for 40 years” must make him an expert in fire response. I am no expert but my father is having been a career fire fighter in Salanis Ca and ended as a chief. He said the response depends on location and many other factors. Maybe there was a slow response. Wait for the experts to chim in and stop acting like experts because you have seen fires.
No way it took 45 minutes. Just because they called it in doesn't mean fire department is going to there exact house. They went where the fire actually was which was blowing away from them direction of smoke clearly shows it. Just because fire department was not at there house doesn't mean they were not trying to get in front of the fire because of the wind.
I watched a fire on a hill going up a hill there was 2 fire trucks waiting for it to get to the top ?? I the residents were the ones fighting it before it took out houses on the way up ??

45minutes for a Helicopter to be actioned and on the scene ready to dump water, seems reasonably quick. 25 minutes would have been better. What would you say is an honest response time?

45 minutes to respond? dry hydrants? WTF?
Unqualified Mayor cut the budget broken fire trucks and other equipment fire hydrants no water. Maybe that’s the problem!!!!
No hydrants in the wildlands.
There isnt enough water pressure to turn on every fire hydrant at the same time, which is what they were trying to do. Just like flushing a toilet can reduce the water flow in a shower.
Lots of misinformation being spread. The hydrants had water. They didn’t have PRESSURIZED water. If the taxpayers wanted pressurized water, they should let the leaders know. The leaders aren’t mind readers. 🤷
the pattern is repeated. We have seen it in several locations. Planned, organized and facilitated by the lack of response of people, who follow orders from above source.

So the truth comes out and how did all 3 fires start at exactly the same time??
Santa Ana Winds. the Altadena fire was a Power tower spark but Palisades is most likely arson.
Evidently three different triggers . Did anyone see these lasers ? We heard from a few people who did. The pics are also very telling. Not a natural fire, by any stretch of imagination. Bad Leadership of Gavin Newsome and Karen Bass...
Did they create the wind Karen?
@chris7487 They defunded the firefighters, and didn’t build and maintain the reservoirs, they allowed environmentalists to stop controlled burns even though controlled burns have been used for 100s of years, they allowed criminals to not be prosecuted, supposedly 95% of wild fires started in CA are man made
Which one was supposed to drive the fire truck?
@@nuqwestr then why are we required to ration water? Because they haven’t built Significant NEW reservoirs. I’m tired of writing this as well.

Yet still no water in fire hydrants
plenty of water, what are you talking about, it was water pressure.

There was plenty of water, including the Pacific Ocean right there which the planes used on the fire.
@@nuqwestr not initially. Bass/Newsom said it was too windy to fly. Firefighters with hoses were not able to stop the fire at its early stages and had no water for the most part when it was too late, no? There's a video of the fire at the early stage and no fire dept for about 45 minutes and by then the fire was very large given the winds.
@@1shoedog1 Fire Trucks bring their own water to brush fires. Hydrants are not used for hillside fires to any great degree.
The water capacity of brush fire fighting trucks can vary depending on the size and type of the truck. Here are some general capacities:
- **Small Brush Trucks**: Typically have a water tank capacity of around **200 gallons**.
- **Large Brush Trucks**: Usually have a water tank capacity of about **500 gallons**.
- **Tenders**: These larger trucks can carry **1,000 gallons** or more of water.
These trucks are equipped with pumps that can deliver water at high pressures to effectively combat wildfires.
@@1shoedog1 We live here, some are very emotional and not listening to facts. Newsom/Bass are not my choice, not at all, and I post against DEI all the time. We've had this fire/wind issue for decades, and it spans both parties.
If the homes down the hill that burned, many built in the 1950s, had made their own clearances, clearances by ordinance that come with $500 fine, hardened their Eaves and Vents with products available for retrofit, most would not have burned.
You will see photos of one block built in the 1950s burned out while the next block over homes built in the 1980s not touched. At some point we have to look to ourselves, not the politicians.

DEI ruined the fire dept. rainbow hydrants over working ones
been saying since the start they are doing the bare minimum until its too late
Man, this is crazy. 45 minutes.
Google maps shows the Santa Ynez res. empty. Ya'll better need to keep tab on your water supplies even if by google maps & demand answers if they're empty.
yep , and when ol' Gavin was called out on it he said " that's a city problem , not the states " - um - you're in charge of the state bud - you've been a failure ever since you started office .
Cachuma is full and subject to spilling at elevation 750 ft. However, the lake is surcharged to 753 ft. for fish release water.
Santa Ynez reservoir has a cover. How can you tell if it's empty or not using Google Maps?
The Santa Ynez was down since Feb 2024 for repair but the much larger Upper Stone Canyon reservoir full and used in the fire, so was the Encino reservoir. LADWP is in charge of pipes for both homes and hydrants. No hydrants are designed to have 20 open at one time. Fire Fighters are trained to save lives, first, not property.
Inexcusable on leadership from the LAFD Palisades, no water in the tank Mayor Bass should resign.
Upper Stone Canyon Reservoir feed the homes and hydrants water, fully functional. Santa Ynez is only one "tank" off line for maintenance since 2024. The hydrants on same line as homes, they had water, so did the hydrants, just not pressure when 20 are open at one time.
Stop blaming each other and help each other. Shame
As a home owner in Palisades, maybe you should have taken the time to ask why your reservoir was empty as far back as last Feb, and did something about it.
Do you know the water level in the reservoir near you??
@ lol, I am not online blaming other people for my failure to not do my due diligence
Thank you news nation for reporting this. Thank you so much.
Pacific Palisades has a population of 24,000. Governed by a Mayor, City Council and County Supervisor. Too small
Criminal negligence is going around Mr Ex prosecutor. Nobody see's it till it happens to them. 👏
You get what you vote for 👍
Wait...what's that? A government agency took longer than it should have to respond to an actual emergency? Can't beeee.....
Thank you for sharing with us!
it takes dam time to get up there , its not like if firefighters there next door waiting for when a fire starts lol
Actually the fire department is right there.
Much prayers.
It’s criminal. 24 dead 😢😢😢😢😢
We just have to wait for the fire to identify as water and then everything will be fine!

I worked for a large paper manufacturer. Our paper mills were located in isolated areas and were worth hundreds of millions of dollars each. All employees had to undergo fire fighting training. We were taught that the first minutes after a fire starts are critical. If it goes past that, it becomes difficult to control.
Even if they saw it, 60 mile winds and dry brush makes this whole video rubish
You have no standing in this discussion.
Brandon, Bass and Gav are not your bros.
Yup! Have heard this from locals
More proof of incompetance.
The staffing budget actually increased but it was allocated to overtime pay instead of new workers. Public unions are part of the problem.

It is a fair question to ask…..give fire authorities the chance to answer.
@@psychmajortodd Yes I saw the same interview.
Some homeowners did use pool water and saved their house. A month ago in the Malibu fire guy with diesel pump and pool water saved his house and his neighbors. We've known that for years but people did nothing. This is not all about politics.

Just because they called it in doesn't mean fire department is going to there exact house.
They went where the fire actually was which was blowing away from them direction of smoke clearly shows it.
Just because fire department was not at there house doesn't mean they were not trying to get in front of the fire because of the wind.

Those responsible within public works for the maintenance of fire hydrants and reservoirs are not voted in.
The mayor was selected as she was the one with the Marxist indoctrination protocol they were seeking.
I don't think the city cares....
The department got the call right away........but according to DEI protocol they had to ask everyone how they felt about going on the call first, as they didn't want to have anyone feel left out. I mean look a fire is serious yes.......but not nearly as important as making sure everyone FEELS important and treated equally.
After the majority had their coffee break!
In California State, whenever firefighters are needed most in a fire, usually you can not find them around. But you get to see them in public every day, It's kind of weird this is how thing work in California.
The California voters need to be held accountable. It's time to pay the piper for voting for these incompetent, dumb, woke leaders. Sorry you have to start being real.
For individuals like the LA fire chief, budget cuts become a strategy to remove those who do not align with her extreme DEI agenda. Once her budget is restored, she hires individuals who fit her criteria. Californians put her in charge, and they must bear the consequences of that decision. Whether it’s poor vegetation management, inadequate preparedness, or questionable hiring practices, the rest of America should not be expected to shoulder the costs of such mismanagement and corruption.
There is no such thing as a DEI agenda. Fox News fabricated the term.
