We don't do surveys much around here on existing homes. However older homes on larger lots with mature trees where maybe the fence was built to accommodate a tree, or a retaining wall was built to accommodate another special feature of the yard, surveys are more popular. Even in our newer neighborhoods we see "party walls" with close lot lines and other scenarios where surveys are helpful

I got a survey before I built a house. The person who bought the house send their own survey witch was the same company I hired they said your lot is in the wrong spot yours is 2 lots down but according to the survey paper work u did built it in the right spot what now
