back in the days , for me bit torrent was all about downloading movie but going through your videos , i cant just stop admiring the effort people put ,to come up with something like this!!

Exactly. We are sitting on the should of giants and we do not even acknowledge that.
Such a brilliant piece of engineering. Wednesday video will blow your mind on how it would work without tracker in a pure P2P setup.
The algorithm blew my mind 😁 was just preparing the notes 😁😁

I have experienced that while downloading a file, there is also some upload happening. But you mentioned that leecher has to have the full file before sending files. is it true?

Really nice explanation, I remember back in the day I used to configure the settings on my torrent client to maximize download speed and limit uploads. TIL, I was a leecher haha

Thanks Arpit for the awesome content. I am curious which tab and application are you using for making these notes? Love them 🙂

Hey Arpit. Thanks for the awesome content❤️. It would be helpful if you can attach the notes link in the video description if possible.

The idea that a leecher must have the full file before uploading is incorrect in most P2P protocols. Uploading begins as soon as even a single chunk is downloaded.
If you're observing uploads during file downloads, it's a normal part of P2P systems.

Really helpful video arpit to understand the concept of main 4 component of bittorrent , now i have one question how we can decide which algorithm we can use to implement P2P , like how tracker decide which peer in my list is it based on region , zone or what are the factors ?
If you have any paper around this please update me.

19:20 Does this means if a leecher is even missing one piece from let 1million pieces, he won't able to seed because he's not having entire file ?
All good but this doesn't seems to be very perfect. Why can't he just share the piece if he have it ?

    • @Aditya-us5gj

Otherwise what is the signifcance of informing the pieces it have if it caanot share them. Anyways at the end he can tell "Hey now I have whole file and I can now act as seeder".

A leecher seeds but if it is missing a piece it will not be called a seeder.
Peers do share the pieces among themselves withing having the complete file.
