_completely_ agree here ! me can slightly get it on a surface level, but the very first time i saw it with no idea what the lyrics were about or even listening to them much, vandham going out with such a comparatively soft and bittersweet melody compared to say, engage the enemy from xenoblade 1 felt perfect to me and made me much sadder. it's a tragic moment and while it is a fight _(and i think the song has the right instrumentation to fit a pretty action-packed moment anyway provided the mood is right, it's used entirely in action scenes anyway)_ we're watching such a strong and heroic man impale himself and die pretty unceremoniously trying to let the party escape. i think hearing a song like drifting soul play made it 10x more painful than probably anything else would have _with_ the lyrics in account ? vandham himself and what he dies fighting for and teaching rex to do _embody_ what i think is one of the main themes of the song and i'd say of the game - fighting your war. the "why I'm here today" and reason that the lyrics of the song are so heavily focused and desperate to find an answer to. vandham's ultimate lesson to rex and the reason he's such a good mentor to him comes from the fact he knows perhaps better than anyone what his own war is, in fighting to protect the home and people he loves and helps rex find his own, and his sacrifice is his final way of doing that heck, malos is the character i honestly first associated with this song and the fact it's him clashing with vandham and ultimately taking his life feels like it couldn't be a _more_ fitting choice for the scene to introduce it - malos is maybe one of the most _lost_ and tragic spins on the theme of purpose and reason to live there could be, a living and feeling being born into the world with the urge to destroy, ultimately coming to recognize that that urge was one that didn't even belong to him, finding company in torna and jin who he genuinely comes to care about, and ultimately choosing the path of destruction and self-immolation all over again _with them_ largely out of that love in itself. malos and vandham only get this scene together, but they feel almost like opposite embodiments of that theme of the game, and the fact that the song's final appearance comes when rex and malos face off at the very end, where malos almost painfully questions him on why he's even fighting and rex retorts with what's ultimately the very reason vandham died against him and what he taught rex. i think that's _beautiful,_ and it's an absolutely perfect set-up for that final confrontation apologies for the rambling or if anything here's silly, i've yet to actually see the game through myself and i'm mostly going on what i have seen here and there and my understanding and interpretation of the things i've yet to see but know of, but i just wanted to agree and back up why i think this works and i sort of turned it into a big thing ! ^ ^,
It's just the lyrics that better suit either Nia or Pyra. But the the sentimental passion underlying the music suit Vandham just as well. I I've personally come to associate this music most with Rex and Pyra's romance through the course of the game.
@@lightningandodinify the vocal version is nia's song completely. It plays here because she is too scared to save vandham with her powers. There are multiple shots showing her wanting to help but not being able to. Also before this vandham saves her in the battle and even before that he accepts who she is even though she was apart of torna.

I love this theme so much, the moment in Chapter 7 where Nia stops being afraid and shows her true form is just perfect. Let's not forget the first time it plays either, where Vandham sacrifices himself to save the team and Mythra appears. This theme is the best Xenoblade 2 Cutscene Song in the game, and your take on it is wonderfully unique, amazing work as always!
Another great Gaboustic cover!! I really enjoyed this especially since I just heard the song for the first time in the game! Yes after all the Gab xenoblade covers/questions I finally decided to pick up the game, our little adventure in the comments section has reached a good end
My friend: Dude why do you play this weeb sh*t *2 weeks later of non stop gameplay* Me: So what’s you’re favorite video game? My friend: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 mah boi!!!! Me: *sigh*
Gab! I love how you used the sigle coil pickup on the tele to get that perfect clean overdrive/distortion sound. Good choice for rhythm. Great dynamics as well! Amazing cover! ;)
wow very good. interesting choice with the ocarina too. Not a lot of covers of this song up on youtube, yours is one of the best around. Keep it up man.
"I'm no longer afraid!" :')
That's the best moment in the game to me and this theme just sells it, great job!
Adam bear03 FRIENDZONED😂
Adam bear03 nia just got friendzoned

Man...I love this game. I love the whole series for its intensive story. thank you for another amazing cover.
"Take Pyra and scram kid! You've got to make it to Elysium!" "I won't allow it!" "Remember to fight your war!"
This game... I swear... :')
FIGHT. YOUR. WAAAAAAAAR!!!
"Vandhaaaaaaaam! Aaaaaaah, you're gonna pay for this for Vandham!"
"Your a pain in the ass
YOU LITTLE SHIT"
Do this game ahhh makes me laugh so much!!!! Hehehehe but in serious RIP vandham
I love you Gab.
I love you and all of you guys :^)
Gab: About that thing you said that one time... Uh"
Flare Mayor: "Huh? Oh right, you're asking now? Now's not the time. We'll talk about it later."
I am absolutely loving how much attention you're giving the XC2 sound track. Way too many amazing songs.
It means a lot! :'D I love XC2 so much I just wanna get to all the songs!
The Chapter 10 use of this song gets overlooked, I think it might be the most powerful time it’s used.
Gab. God damn it, man :'D
Ahhh man I'm so glad you liked it! :'D
Shady Cicada Woah, a wild cicada!
Please do more Xenoblade 2 covers.
I've heard a surprising amount of people saying this song doesn't fit in the Vandham scene but I couldn't disagree more, it's so perfect.

Really hoping for Nintendo to hire an orchestra for the Xenoblade games similar to how they did the Zelda anniversary orchestrated pieces.
Ok I honestly until this very moment thought Xenoblade games already were orchestrated. Or at least partially.
@@chuckbatman5 no they are xenoblade.fandom.com/wiki/Xenoblade_2_Original_Soundtrack#English%20Titles
@@chuckbatman5 oh they are. I think they just mean a live show like with the Symphony of the Goddess with Zelda music

Can't believe Rex made it to Final Destination without an invitation; absolute MADLAD
Rex agreed to being a taunt option to get I Smash
Among the mist, I see a stretching path
Reaches out so far
Beyond what I can see
How far would I be walking till I reach the end
The end of the path is to be seen
I would keep thinking
Questioning to myself
Why do I have to walk this path, oh why
I can't seem to find the real meaning to this
Path that I take fate to accept and my goal seems
So far away
So tell me why I'm here and what's the reason I am here today
If I recall, it was you
You wished that I would stay
No matter how much wind will blow against me
I will keep on (I will)
I will keep moving on
To find the answer too
I'm lost in search for you
So tell me why I'm here and what's the reason I am here today
If I recall, it was you
You wished that I would stay
No matter how much wind will blow against me
I will keep on (I will)
I will keep moving on
To find the answer too
I'm lost in search for you
When you stop and look ahead
And face up to the blue above
The Jacob's ladder will
Come down and check me up
If I could climb up to the top
Would you be waiting at the top
Will it mean (will this mean)
I search no more
I'll try and reach for the ladder that's there
Far in the distance I hear the voices
Was this what I expected
I don't even know at all
Is this the real me I've longed for
I wish that was the case
I know I'll let go of the ladder that's there
I'll start walking from this point on
I'm not here at all
I don't exist here at all
I gotta search for me
I wish that I would find myself soon
I need to find myself
Myself
(I may or may not know all the lyrics)
Today we use our power to fell a God and then seize our destiny!!!!!
We accidentally added a chorus and you missed one line. It's "from this point forward"

Thank you very much!! :D This song is so powerful! Chapter 7 being my favorite time to hear it but also Chapter 3 and 10!!
wtf???? thank you for the spoiler you jerk...
Boo he only says its in chapter 10 and that is not spoiling anything
@@Creeper-ez4kn
Yeah, not like he spoils vandhams death or Nia or anything...
Unexpected... I like it
Probably the saddest song in the game to me
Definitely! Hits me right in the feels..!
I think it’s tied with the tomorrow with you
Ocarina works perfectly in this song!
Very glad you thought so! :D
*Has flashbacks to mythra's gut wrenching screams from torna
This is one of my favorite songs in existence
Great job Gab! The ocarina works so well!
Michael Mac he’s called gab ocarina for a reason

True that
4 months ago i had the "ugh, just another dumb game for weebs" mindset.
i'm extremely glad i decided to step out of that and give the game a shot.
Is it possible to have the music minus the ocarina sounds? It could make for a good karaoke version.
Great cover btw.
I always get emotional when I hear this song. You definitely did it justice!
Thank you very much! :)
Beautiful
"I love you too! ....I love all of you guys!!"
