I believe this was intentional, especially because spirit (aka aether) is sometimes referred to as the 5th element -- and "spirit" obviously being the first word in the chorus. Another reason is the phrase, "our essence is the key". The 5th element is also called quint*essence* - literally "the fifth element", and it's also the highest element. Therefore, spirit is the key. As far as the criticism that sky is not air goes: You can make that semantic argument, but I don't think it holds as it is entirely divorced from the obvious artistic intent. Wind/air/sky/atmosphere would all arguably equate here. The criticism is quite clearly wrong based upon my explanation above. Whether someone wants to nit-pick whether or not sky = air, it's comfortable to say that the lyrics were chosen deliberately in the way the OP suggested.

The message i get from this video is that we can always change outside and put on whatever persona we want, be it makeup, clothing or anything else to escape from ourselves.=. I know I did for many years. But behind it all, when the makeup is removed and the costume is put away, we are all just humans with a deep hunger to connect with each other's "essence." Without judgements, without pretense... to "take off" the makeup (external persona) and just be who we really are deep inside our hearts. Any other thoughts?

I think I'm one of the few people who prefers the non-heavy side of Soen over the heavy side, so I'm really excited to hear this track, confirming that not the whole album will be as heavy as Rival (not that I dislike that one in anyway, it's just preference)
Their chill side is way better imo. Lucidity, ideate, paragon, fraktal, the words, last light, all great songs but their only really chill songs. Their best too.
I’m with you for sure. Not necessarily because it’s my preference in general,but because it’s my preference for this band specifically. Mainly since I think Joel Ekelof’s vocals are better suited for the more melodic and softer songs and parts than the heavier ones. I also think Martin Lopez’s insane groove/feel drumming style really shines in the softer songs and parts as well.
But they do sound like a complete Opeth and TOOL mashup with some System of A Down thrown into the mix. Which is not a bad thing especially since I would prefer Soen was Opeth right about :(

The fact that their sound bares influences from Tool (and Opeth and whatever else) is nothing to be ashamed of. They still have their own sound and it's a great one. Every other band sounds similar to a previous one if you pay enough attention, it's never been a bad thing.

Holy shit, the part starting at 5:33 gave me goosebumps, and that RARELY happens to me with music. Lykaia happens to be my least favorite Soen album out of the first tree, and Rival was nothing surprisingly new to me, so I was kind of afraid they had already made their best songs. Holy shit, the part starting at 5:33 gave me goosebumps, and that RARELY happens to me with music. Lykaia happens to be my least favorite Soen album out of the first tree, and Rival was nothing surprisingly new to me, so I was kind of afraid they had already made their best songs. Damn how wrong I am proven.
Weird ass judgment and taste you've got. Lykaia is the best thing these will ever write. It has unbelievable Opeth riffs all over the place.

I've read a lot of people writing that this vid it's a little bit disgusting by the fact it shows some guys transformed as women; however, this is just an example of the idea showed in the martyrs' lyric. is it so hard to understand? I don't think so. Greetings.
