- I review breakdown and explain Yellowstone, 1923 and 1883. I discuss the Dutton family tree and how all of the family members are connected in all of the shows. From 1883 to Yellowstone Season 5. I react to the 'Hidden Duttons', the upcoming show which is set in 1944 and the show on Bass Reeves. I also give my theories and predictions on 1923 Season 2.

1883 is the best to watch by itself--the most complete story. But having watched it, I never felt the need to see any of it again. Whereas I've watched many Yellowstone episodes several times. And I watch Alex&Spencer portions of 1923 a lot. Too much, in fact. It bothers me.
I guess the point is, 1883 said all it had to say, and that was it, the end. Yellowstone and 1923 still have a lot of balls up in the air, and we're wondering how they come down. They're both a lot messier. So more interesting. But also frustrating.

Elsa narrates in the first five minutes in episode one.....”My father had three children. Only one would live to see their own children grown. Only one would carry the fate of this family through the depression and every other hell the 20th century hurled at them.” Elsa is dead. John is dead. That leaves one kid left to see his own children grown and carry on the fate of his family......Spencer. Nuff said.
John Sr lived to see Jack grow up. Narration fulfilled. Nuff said.
Re-read… only ONE of my father’s children would survive (Spencer) as John Sr and Elsa would pass.
@@MountainKayaker “My father had three children. Only one would live to see their own children grown.” Those are her exact words. Jack is in his early 20’s and engaged to be married; therefore, John Sr satisfied the narration already. This is also the only way John III is a 5th gen rancher.
@@ketorising81 You’re missing the second part. "Only one would carry the fate of his family through the depression…" The great depression, began in 1929 and ended about 1940. That could only be Spencer if it’s still referring to the previously mentioned 3 children.

I think that Jack Dutton and his wife will raise Spencer Dutton’s son who will be present day John Dutton’s father. Because this was foreshadowed after Jack Dutton’s wife lost her baby.
So many people want to insist that Spencer is John Dutton’s grandfather. It would make John a 4th generation rancher if that were true. Jack has to be his grandfather if John is a 5th generation rancher, as Jamie revealed in season 5.
Ummm maybe but what if John duttons dad was adopted and wasn't a biological dutton and this is a goose chase....Maybe Jack and his wife adopt after her failed pregnancy and that becomes popppp
@@johnmills6153 how John II comes to be isn’t what people are debating at all. The big controversy is whether Jack or Spencer are John III’s grandfather. My point is that it has to be Jack.
Could be written that he has a son he does not know about born after he went to Army. Or Jack is really Spencers somehow. Or he has son that has sone at very young age.
@@shareis764 maybe but I don't think Spencer is Jack's father because of the Comment Jack's mom made to Claira about how she would know what its like being a mom......why would she say that to Clara if she was raising an adopted son just like she did
@@ketorising81 Part of the debate could be that John III's grandfather could be Spencer's son who could of been born about 1905?

Just watched Yellowstone marathon, in the episode “Keep the Wolves Close”, John tells Beth “ my great grandfather build this house…”. But yet, we know James was shot and died in the log cabin. Right????
The Ranch will go to Tate. In 1883 chief Rainwater states that in 7 generations his people will take back their land. Tate is that 7th generation and part of the rainwater tribe through his mother. The show will end with Tate taking over the ranch and the old Chief being right.

Keep in mind that naming traditions do not dictate that a John Jr. has to be the son of a John Sr., or that a John III has to be the son of a John II. That is a modern day construct, but historically, a John Jr. could be named after an uncle, same as a John II or John III could be named after an uncle. The diminutive suffix does not automatically mean "son of the father."
John (Jack) Dutton is Kevin Costner's character's grandfather, and Spencer's character is Jack Dutton's uncle, and
Spencer is the best looking, with the smoother vocal delivery of the two.

Bass Reeves isn’t a yellowstone story. He was a real person . It is an historical retelling. Bass like the fish, not the guitar
The one thing I hate in Yellowstone. The sheriff in the beck brothers pocket doesn’t have any kids. Then later on gets shot and tries to call his daughter . How do u make a mistake like that. Also they said jimmy broke his promise. That’s was never shown . U see him on the ground and the barrel racer crying while the chaos of the attack is going on I. The backround. Making it look like that was the reason for his injuries. Then he was magically hurt from rodeo 🤦♂️

This makes Jacob Dutton to be john dutton grandfather not James dutton.
Maybe Alex is pregnant on ship and that's why she was sick at first not sea sick . Then they meet in Bozeman her with a child. they have a child in 1924 . Then John ll is named after Spencer brother John l and Spencer shows his brother respect .by naming it John after his brother. It's still possible jack gets Elizabeth pregnant again after miscarriage. And Spencer goes on to open up 6666 ranch etc. And Alex and Spencer kid has a kid in 1944 etc....
The 6666 Ranch exists in reality (Taylor Sheridan now owns it), and was not founded by the fictional Duttons. It already exists in 1923, having been founded by a man named Burnett in 1900. So no.

I've been thinking and posting about this for a bit. Spencer could of had a son like around 1905 who is with his mother, who could father John II (Coleman).
This keeps 5th generation of John (Costner) and 7th generation Tate in tack.
Spencer was born about 1886-87, after James and Margaret moved to Pleasant Valley in Montana. Making him ~19 in 1905 and if/then his son about 18 in present 1923 show. Spencer's son would need to come out of the woodwork in season 2 and find a blonde?
