I have just got this box also and you are right the screws are frustrating to say the least, I use the timer on my auto feeder 4 times a day and the pond lights like yourself, I also have a basic box which has the push connectors, it's better but the air was still blue at times!
If you had a pipe failure and your pump emptied your pond, apart from the one foot of water below the pump, your pump would be running dry and burn out, so you would want the monitoring to switch off the pump so it didn’t damage itself whilst running but not pumping water. Good video.
