A lot of times you guys could have done this: side-b forward and go backwards so you stay in place, mash b the fastest possible and press up-b before Yoshi ends up the animation of breaking the egg, Yoshi will do an up-b with the maximun high while being on the ground
Funny thing, I found out about this tech literally right after I finished building this stage, and I was like: "Nah they probably don't know about this, I don't have to rebuild my entire stage" xD
A suggestion for puzzles makers would be to focus more on cool tricks/puzzles for difficulty, instead of just _super_ tight movement inputs. It’d be less draining on the doods, and more interesting to watch. Just a thought.
I wanted to use more side b in this stage, but it was quite tough to make a section with a cool side b tech that you can't also get through with up b. Coupled that with my limited Yoshi knowledge and yeah... But anyways, great video. And a rare vyQ win on top of that :)
Pin the creator! :D It's funny to see VyQ hurting his thumb after mashing so much with shield break... xD Glad you put an easier trick at the end to save some minds. Very creative Yoshi Course, that forward air after tech is a nice addition!
Hi Nightshade. Can I get your opinion on my Yoshi no-jump challenge? Difficult version ID: 76M23P37 It focuses more on side B, down B, and even neutral B. It also uses that up B out of side B trick. End on the green bouncy rubber.
@8CanadianBacon9 I played your course and I think it's quite fun. There are some cool tricks like the side b launches in here that were really fun to figure out. I do think that the stage is a little confusing, in the sense that I had trouble figuring out where the correct path and the next trick is. In the end, I sadly couldn't beat the stage, probably because I couldn't figure out some obscure Yoshi tech I never heard about. I do think though that there is some cheese in this stage. You can get to multiple different sections from the angel platform using some up b's. With that I reached the switch earlier than I think it was intended to. I would put some sort of border around the spawn area so that you have to go straight down from the angle platform.
@@nightshade4125 Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you trying it out. I'll have to find time to remake it with clearer objectives and use my resources more wisely (I'm out of stage space). I made it as I went along. Not sure when I'll to that, though. I'll put a video out later demonstrating some of the tech in case people get stuck. I discovered one with neutral B and wind on complete accident while making it and just had to add it to the final trick. When Yoshi gets launched by the wind out of side special, he'll suddenly lose momentum and slow down unless... he keeps using neutral special. If Yoshi uses neutral special, he will maintain that launch speed, and that includes B-reversing it. This speed lets Yoshi get through the wind on the left, too. For the cheese from the angel platform, I forgot to mention to play in stage builder and reset if hit by lava or die. I personally prefer letting the player experiment.
Yoshi no jump challenge Difficult version ID: 76M23P37 Easier version ID: 60F55N8N (Can use it for practice) Focuses on Yoshi’s side B, down B, and neutral B. I was discovering new tech as I made it and kept adding stuff, so it looks kind of jank. It’s challenging if you don’t know the tech. It’s still decently challenging if you do know the tech. Rules: 1. No Jumping 2. Land on the green bouncy rubber to finish 3. If you’re hit by lava (or die), reset. However, feel free to experiment before resetting, or die on purpose to practice the ending. 4. No using or utilizing P2
It's kind of amazing how painful 8:20 looks & sounds. Also, this course strengthens my desire to a see a no-jump Jigglypuff course where you start by doing a shield break to get to the top & then have to work your way down to reach the goal.
As someone who's been pretty disillusioned with Ultimate's status as a competitive game since Steve came out, I appreciate these videos a lot because they remind me just how much more entertainment value you can get out of Smash outside of pvp.
As a Yoshi main, this is truly hilarious to watch. Sometimes one can up-b and get a float boost immediately after using a side-by, which helps quite a bit as far as I can see
I like how you both thought to use down+B on the first obstacle and even tried it again at the upper middle obstacle but NEITHER of you thought to use down+B on the platform on the left. Instead you chose shield break lmao
I bit of functional-fixedness on your guys’ end haha. For the little lava spot (1:31) you can just simply roll past that. Characters will versatile movesets make it hard for the creators to crack down on other exploitations of the stage. Created a Pac-Man stage, and it was tedious trying to make tricks that only is possible ONE way; his vast kit makes it hard (I don’t even think I succeeded). Although your alternatives are trickier, they make better content 🤭
I think most of the issue you guys had with the long horizontal jump is that you have to up-b, yes, but you can then hold forward after the up-b to go far horizontally. The egg direction happens in the few first frames, then after its all about direction for Yoshi. What tells me this is that all your eggs were landing at the top platform, while testing it, mines were downwards / landing on the bottom platform. Drop from the ledge, up-b-then-put-joystick-forward, airdodge. Anyway, welcome to the Yoshi mains, you'll see, we have a good time over here.
So idk if you guys knew about this or not but there's actually a secret tech where if you do grounded side B and mash up B right after the second bounce, you basically get aerial up B without a ledge or jumping. I tried using the tech on this course and was able to cheese a good amount of the tricks
I would like to see someone make a coop stage that is meant for 2 characters instead of 1. It could use things like pushing the other with a wind box, moving both characters with Bowser side B or Charizard up throw, having 1 character activate switches or bombs for the other...
I'm hoping the shield break for the left platform was just a bit. They both immediately used down b for the first obstacle and then again near the end, but somehow neither one tried it for the platform? XD
When you guys show each other your methods you should go back into the stage with your jumps enabled so you can more quickly get back to some part of the level when you’re demonstrating how you did it so you don’t just have to attempt the stage again.
Surprised they forgot about the higher up B trick i’m pretty sure i learned that from smash review and instantly knew that’s what they needed to do for the bumper section
Idk where I remember it from but if you use lots of rolls in a short span of time the distance and frame data of rolls gets worse. Maybe it’s the same for airdodges, and why they could sometimes do it and other times couldn’t for minutes
i downloaded and tried the map before watching. for context: I play melee I got fed up with the smash ultimate buffer system and the dashing to a ledge thing in under 5 minutes. idk why I spent $60 + DLC on this game.
Yeah, I mostly play Rivals of Aether now & on the very rare occasions that I play Smash Ultimate again, I always wonder why the 5th game in a series made by such rich & experienced devs hiring such qualified people with such a high budget & so much time is so stiff & unintuitive to control in nearly every regard despite having such basic inputs at face value.
this makes me think was "Slice" the yoshi player or "JoeCreak" doods as well or just subscribers/ fellow smash players ? I always wondered if you more than 2 at the beggining or no

I've been saying this on every video, super precise tricks aren't fun to play or watch.
Thats true but it's pretty tough to come up with. There's only so many movement options per character especially without jump
I think the spot on the left they can't get need to be done with an egg-roll jump from the right. Not the tight jump Vyq is doing.
The thing is, designing a clever level is way harder than making a precise skill-check.
This is true for game development in general
