I'd rather the USA didn't end the relationship as they have a permanent seat and may veto everything. They also can ignore a UN ruling because they are a permanent seat, meaning that International law may be ignored by the USA if it upsets their own constitutional laws (Even if the USA has an agreement with the International board it cannot override a USA law). This is why you should laugh when a country or person says the USA is breaking International law because there would be no way to enforce it because of the USA standing in the UN. However...because it is a permanent seat, the USA can enforce International Law and has many times. JFK did it against Russia when he ordered the blockade of Cuba. Thus stating it would start WWIII with missiles in Cuba, Russia could ignore it, but Cuba couldn't and risked NATO attacking it. We tend to forget if the USA came under attack by a China or Russia, Nato would then attack them, and Russia stands no chance of winning as Nato is bigger. I say this because Nato, under the USA, France or the UK (Germany cannot because of the treaty ending WWII and not a permanent seat) can enforce international law, though not against those three countries themselves (They may against Germany though). The UN is not a lawmaker, they are simply a place to meet and settle matters. They do have peacekeepers but they are not supposed to fight just keep the peace.
