I think the red heatmap thing on woods from top is object culling. Center of that white circle is where the player is and the red areas are not visible from the player perspective so they don't need to be rendered. So maybe some fps improvement in woods is coming
Re: Patches developed for new Unity Speaking as a software engineer, and dev manager here. Ignore this comment if you dont want tech details ;) How this works is the devs have to start their 'fix' from some version of the code. Assuming they intend their fixes to be applied after the unity update, they would base their code (create their branch) from the code base after that update. This is not something they can simply try to apply to a previous version of the code. It comes down to cost in time. To update a previous version of the code they would have to cherry pick their changes or re-code them on a branch created from an earlier version of the code. This means more dev time, but more importantly more test effort. The biggest risk here is if their changes cause new bugs, so they would need a full scope of impact testing in the previous version, similar to what they are doing in the new version (after unity update). So we are talking twice the effort at a minimum. This means impact to release windows as well, if they prioritize the effort on the patch, then they take longer for next release. For my part, if you are already this close to the next release, you have to basically say we can live with the bugs as is, assuming they can be fixed with or shortly after the unitiy update. Additional note: Even if these are not release with the unity update, that does not mean they were not worked on. It is very common for a team to identify risk of changes/test effort. Meaning, by applying their fix they might incur such a large test effort, that they would rather release without, and then after release apply the patch to their internal test environment for a future patch.

You can still hold the release branch (or git tag) to manage any needed updates to the current version of the app. The new updates would take place either in main, or on that feature branch depending on how they manage releases. To your point, you would not be able to merge those changes back into the release or 'current version' without dragging along all the other changes unless you re-code the update or cherry pick the changes if where you are starting from is close enough. Now with unity, the changes are not going to be massive structural changes. This is a framwork update, meaning they import the packages for unity and some of those packages may have significant changes in functionality. This is also one thing to consider when looking at why they chose a particular version, it may be that in a new version there are more breaking changes. (Total guess as I do not have deep knowledge on the unity change history between versions)

i hate to be that guy, but, when compared to high-firerate assault rifles, guns like the ak50 will always have a degree of inherent meme-status. we've seen this with the mk18 mjolnir and the bolt action 338. yes, with good ammo, they're capable of consistent one-shot-kills on people wearing the best armor in the game. does this mean you'll have a higher survival rate after 20 raids of using it over, say, literally any assault-rifle with high tier ammo? no. bullet-hoses will always be the most predominantly used weapons. so, why not just add more weapons to their most frequently-used category? i get the appeal for guns like the ak50 bc they're just cool, but adding weapons like this is pointless when a) 80% of players will never unlock it themselves, and b) the people that DO have it unlocked will very rarely use it. adding weapons that are versatile and accessible to the average player is the best move bsg could make, with regards to bringing real players back to the game. no veteran is going to come back to the game after a long break bc bsg added a gimmick gun. what WOULD attract real players is a set of new AR's or SMG's that are accessible early or mid-game.
the lever gun could easily be several callibers fired from the same platform. if i had to guess its gonna be 45-70 because its cool and hard hitting, making it relevant in the meta. but also .357 is already in game so it may very well be that aswell. the other most likely options are 30-30 and .45 long colt.
The fog is pretty cool, it forces people to move around rather than sit in one place waiting for their target. Personally, I think it's good for the game and allows you to adapt to the seasons. I really hope it isn't, .45-70 doesn't really make sense in the lore of Tarkov. Its already somewhat of an antiquated caliber here, and I cannot imagine it'd be any easier to source overseas and even less in a city in ruins like Tarkov.

But now, even that’s gone because of complaints. I’ve played since June 2017, and while it was fun while it lasted, the changes and the cheater problem have taken away the joy for me. I hope all of you can continue to enjoy this amazing game, but for me, it’s not the Tarkov I fell in love with anymore
There was a type of Winchester Model 1895 that was chambered in the Russian 7.62 by 54 mm carriage, I recall it being exported to Russia around WW1 some time around 1914 or 1915 not too sure. However i am willing to bet rubles on the new gun being the 1895.

I think the fog in PVP is bugged. PVE fog looks nice actually imo. It’s not blinding but it’s also THICC but I can also see through it at a distance. There was only one instance where it was so THICC I couldn’t see past maybe 100 meters, but it wasn’t the bright blinding kind of fog I’m seeing in PVP.
Lever action will probably be in 357. IMO it won't/shouldn't be immune to jamming. The lever action system (+ the elevator loading that it usually comes with) isn't as reliable as people actually think it is, especially compared to other manual actions (bolt, pump). It's more mechanically complex and reliant on all parts being in good quality and interacting with each other in the correct timing in order to cycle (which is, y'know, pretty important when you'll be trying to clear a malfunction).
The fog is insane!! I hated it trying to kill sturhman 20 times to unlock the mjonir..I ended up using the good holo thermal and omg its been OP in the fog.
A whole year with lightkeeper quests bug... It started in PVE with the DSP being blocked... Priorities... BSG is not good at deciding which ones to go first

Hey airwingmarine, wouldn’t it be cool if fog wasn’t a seasonal thing? In a climate that is close to the ocean, fog usually comes in at night and recedes in the day. Foggy nights would be hard to make playable, but very interesting for thermal optics. Seeing the fog recede into the ocean on shoreline and terminal as the sun rises in game could be a beautiful experience.
i would wish for areas that are at least cleand up. for example a usec base. or the rouge base... a base even of semi professional pmcs would not be such a mess!

If you allready have some ammo that can penetrate lvl 6 armor and now we might see even more powerful ammo. We need lvl 7 armor plates
