I'm from the Philippines, most of the stuff Emily features aren't available in my place (thankfully for now, my wallet can't handle the prices, even drugstore stuff is 3x the price of US pricing). But she's one of the most calming TH-camrs I've met in my viewing here. Personality always shines through ❤
❤😊 - What a sweet comment. Nice that you follow some of Em's recommendations too. But the Beauty industry still has a long way to go, they need to really expand their shade range for people with darker skin tones, especially drugstore,I mean they have like 20 lighter - medium shades for people with lighter skin tones and like 4 darker shades with not enough variation, or nuisance, like not looking at a persons undertones ( cool, neutral,warm).
There are some youtubers you follow for beauty bc they seem the closest to your skin type/coloring/environmental variables (Zabrena is that for me) but then there are others you just trust them and like hearing what they have to say. That's Emily for me.

Hi em! If you can find five minutes before coach time to spend with her as “mom time” and then tell her it’s “coach time” and “change your face” she’ll eventually be able to wait until after. If she comes to you during practice as anything other than coach, remind her. And then after give her all the time she needs. A conversation or two to explain before this starts will help as well.
My sister was a teacher at the Montessori school her kids attended. She was her son's teacher. I asked if that was conflicting interest. She said many Mom's were their kids teachers. He was allowed to call her Mom in the classroom.
Emily, my kids are adults now, and we homeschooled for most of their lives, but my oldest went to school for K and 1st grade. I had 2 at home, and that hour after picking him up, I termed "re-entry." It was explosive, hot, and turbulent. 😂 he was hungry, tired, and tense from holding it together all day. He needed a snack and some quiet. I waited to ask how his day went to avoid overwhelming him further.
I think this may be more common with introverts (even social ones) because situations with lots of people tend to drain them. They need to recharge with solitude before being able to be social again.
Also, his siblings had had a whole day of playing, and he wasn't part of it, so they had shared experiences, and he felt left out, and that often got expressed as anger. Working to help the younger ones include him in their games was helpful.

I’ve read kids sometimes “act out” more when they come home because you’re their safe place. It’s hard in the moment, but it helps me when I remember that

I find that my daughter's need to take a break after school. I don't ask them to do chores or homework or anything for like an hour or so, so they can "decompress"

My son is the same way in school. Also in first grade. He’s so well behaved at school and does really well. When he comes home he’s hungry, grouchy and has to do homework . He’s a ball of emotions. I think the expectations schools have for little kids is a lot more than when we were growing up! ❤
Besides just having some normal a little kid behavior, he is also probably having blood sugar issues. Try sending him with a snack that's High protein, LOW sugar & carbs that he can eat closer to the end of the day, but Before it's time to line up for the bus ride home. I'd bet that would do wonders for him.

Thanks for talking about the behavior situation with Bitty. I have a very sweet, rule-following kindergartener. However, maybe 3 days a week after school, she comes home with an added attitude. She seems much more sensitive, whiny, and honestly, kind of mean when it happens 😂. It's so out of character for her, as she's such a kind, empathetic child. Her teacher had never had anything but praise for her behavior at school, she was even awarded a "responsibility" skills award for the entire school 😂. I never considered her behavior stemming from all the pent up emotional energy in a school day. It makes sense! Thanks, Emily!
Your story about Bitty reminded me of my youngest sister. She would behave all day and then come home and entertain us for hours at the house. She was also super attached to my mom and did not like when others got my mom’s attention (as a young child). She grew up and became an engineer. It will be ok. You’re a great mom and Bitty loves you so much. Thank you for your videos and letting us into your life. ❤

My kids are all adults now (2 girls, 1 boy like you) and my middle was just - and still is 😅 - just like your bitty. She was perfect at school but let it all out at home. Middle children are interesting.

Totally relate. I teach first and have a firstie at the same school, not my class.
A. She’s putting in SO much work at school and is beat when she gets home. We have a 35 minute drive home and sometimes she still just needs a nap. Also, my child doesn’t really *need* first grade, she reads and writes and does math around a 3rd grade level, so I can’t imagine the mental energy the typical firstie has to put in to learn and grow. The growth is monumental and I know the effort they put in is huge as well, because I see it every day!! It makes me so much more compassionate when my students are tired and need a break!!!
B. Mine also struggles to differentiate between mommy and teacher. Especially at lunch! She wants me to have a special lunch with her daily. I just tell her that I have to be “Mrs. Novak” right now, and I’ll make sure she has special mommy time after school. I have an older girl so I can promise you, this won’t last forever. I’m sorry it’s tricky now!!
I’m a teacher and have been for over 20 years, you’d be surprised by the number of parents who are astonished to find out that their children are so well behaved at school but self-combust at home, especially girls. When she gets in allow her to have snacks, watch tv etc to self-regulate with you then this will enable her to cope better with her after school activities. ❤
We are the kids safe space to get it all out after a long day. We have the rule that you can air your grievances, etc on the car ride home. But once you come inside then it’s over. If you need to take some extra time and sit in the car and vent after we get home, go ahead. But it has to be over once you get inside. This has worked for us.

I am inspired to shop my stash to get that look! I remember when my now 29-year-old - who is expecting his first child with his wife - started kindergarten, he would come home so tired that he fell asleep and would stay asleep until the next morning. I couldn’t even get him to wake up for supper!

Hi Emily! When I got home from school, mother used to say you have been sitting in school all day. Change your clothes and go outside and run around! When my clothes got wet, I would go back into the house and change into another play outfit and go back out in the snow! I had to hang my wet clothes on the line in the basement because WE DID’T HAVE A DRYER! Good Ol’ Days……. Thank you Emily. Enjoy your babies, they grow way too fast. FYI-in Sunday school another mother and I would exchange the responsibility for watching/correcting each others child. It worked out really well. Just a suggestion.

Hi, Emily and other Beauties! I especially look forward to the Saturday morning videos. Currently I'm working weekends with a new job, so I miss my Saturday mornings with all of you! Bitty reminds me a lot of my daughter Amelia (who is now 23), lots of personality and a flair for the dramatic with lots of creativity. If Bitty is a social introvert, she may need some chill time when she gets home to recharge her social batteries. Me time and one on one interaction (vs. group interaction) is important. We are all works in progress. I'm 61 and still evolving, too. 😉 Love you, Emily! 🌷

We are forever changing. I’m 55 now and I just started to learn how to knit. We bought my in laws house 2.5 yrs ago and it came w all the furniture and stuff in the closets. In the fall I picked up her old knitting bag and looked up on YT how to knit. I have a knitting store in my town and signed up for classes. Made my new great niece a baby blanket. Working on a few other things now. My daughter is 24 and is also now knitting. 🧶 lol. I can’t believe how much fun I am finding this!!! The blanket is actually the size for a toddler bed or something. It’s nice and big. lol 😊( I see my niece in a few weeks and I’ll give it to her then. She has no idea I made this)😊❤

Did you see the new small Too Faced palettes? They look lovely 😍😍 I'm excited you tried tbe Too Faced bronzer! TF is easier to get than Persona or EM Cosmetics. I was like that going through school too but I got bullied too as well. So when I got home my unwind could be major. I am lucky I had a mom who saw that and spent that time as my mom and let me vent and chill before i would change and see her as something different.

The Milani Luminoso Eyeshadow palette has colors similar to the ones you used today, too! Of course, this would pair well with the Luminoso Blush. I happen to have the Luminoso palette and not the Juvia's Place palette, so I was making mental notes the whole time! LOL! Then, when you mentioned that other palettes likely would be able to make similar looks...you know, there are probably many--especially with the more peachy tones. What a pretty look today, Emily! 💜

I should have waited through the entire video and combined my thoughts! I taught for several years at my boys’ elementary school. I was a speech therapist. Once we arrived at school my oldest didn’t know me. Back home in the afternoon I was his mom again. It’s so interesting to watch kids developing. Thanks for taking me back to a different time!

When my kids are extra moody, stubborn, or are acting out at home, I have to remind myself that it's because they feel safe at home to fully express themselves and have been holding it together ALL day at school. My boys are autistic as well so it can get overwhelming as they struggle with social cues and understanding what is and isn't appropriate to say at time. My oldest is 9 and also showing signs of puberty hormones already (it can start as early as 8 now😲). I just have to take deep breaths and center myself before I attempt to respond to or approach the situation.
I love your description of Bitty: middle child with main character energy! My oldest has main character energy (thankfully his younger brother is easy-going and doesn't mind most of the time!).
LUMINOSO! I have started bringing that out now because I NEED spring to actually be here now! I LOVE layering it too! I'll bring my bronzer down a little further on my cheekbones and blend Luminoso up from the apple of the cheek. Gorgeous!

I think most (middle kids specially) kids do this! I have an almost 16 years old and always great in school never an issue but always liked to be alone for a while after being at school because she’s exhausted. My now 5 year old did amazingly in prek but at home she’s all over the place and has lots of emotions. We now homeschool everyone so having mom hat to teacher hat has been an adjustment. Im teaching my 5 year old that when I have the teacher hat, she has to treated as she treated her teachers back in school, that seems to help us a lot! I love love your videos I look forward to watch them weekly and haven’t miss one since you were back in the other house!! ❤️

Yes! My 3rd grandchild would come home with a blow up. It was a safe place to vent. He’s 10 now, and it’s greatly reduced- he will still share complaints, but there’s no steam behind it.
Good spring look. Juvia's Place shadows are pigmented and have staying power plus good price point and I have many. I will buy this coral palette too. Also, that Luminoso blush as topper looks wonderful. Lancome makes excellent everything but expensive, and influencers arent talking much about any of it. Thank you for the inspiration & ideas

The standard classroom for young kids really doesn't take into consideration that kids NEED to move more at More intervals throughout their entire school day. It's literally unnatural for them to sit there like that. Schools educational systems are sadly antiquated!
My 9 year old struggled with needing down time after school since 2nd grade. She would break down everyday. Now she tells me if she needs to relax. I am a high school math teacher and during pandemic distance learning I realized I could not home school her. She did not see me as a teacher… I was mom. I give her space for her feelings but hold the boundaries in her behavior. It has helped. She is my only kiddo so there is that difference

For your daughter, I think one of the biggest things you can do is to mwake sure she understands why she's doing it so she's self aware and then she'll need extra love, patience and understanding from you. She'll need you to teach her to find healthy/proper coping mechanisms/outlets to channel that frustration, anger, etc.

My kids were always great at school, church and out in public. But they let loose at home. I finally figured out that home and me as their mom was their safe space.
I found that the Em Cosmetics Divine Skies eye palette is all I need many days for either a pink or peach eye look. Plus, it’s great for travel. It’s the only one I bring with me.
I used Dose of Colors Baked Browns I and Colorpop's Lala super shock and created a very similar peachy eye look

For some kids, it takes soooooo much energy to keep it together during school, and when they get home to their safe space they need to let it go. They also understand that mom will love them even if they misbehave or act out. My eldest needed that. We gave him a good half hour to just get it out before he had to do the next "thing."

Yes, I was like your daughter growing up! I was the first child, so it took my mom by surprise. But she told me later in life that she asked my Kindergarten teacher about it, and she said it was because I felt safe to be myself at home. Maybe some awareness can help? I know Biddy is young, but teaching her to check in with herself might be a good thing to try?

I’m a teacher and I’m exactly like Bitty. I’m neurodivergent and I HAVE to hold it together for my 190 students/ not react to certain things/ suppress my motor tics (head injury survivor) when I’m anxious/ not let negative emotions show through with hard moments etc. I’m way more moody around people I feel comfortable with/ family. When I’m done for the day I’m done done.

Hi Emily, love you & your content. Not wanting to put anyone in a 'category' but it struck me that she is the little one that comes in early to say 'hi' and give you cuddles (at least on camera its that often the case) and she's the middle child -sometime middle children need a bit more loving :) it likely struck me because yes, I'm a middle child & the one who craves more affection than my other siblings :) LOL Wishing you a Blessed Easter!
My parents could never understand how teachers and my grandparents though my brother and I were so great when we were fighting tooth and nail at home. Home is home. I think the key is if she doesn't "grow out" of "kids being kids". There came a point with my daughter, glaringly so in the fourth grade when the pandemic had all the kids learning at home, when it turned from, "Is this kids being kids or is something else going on?" to the point where we had her in therapy for a bit for anger issues. Then at the middle-end of fifth grade we started a screening process, and at the start of sixth grade she was diagnosed ADHD and ASD. 🤷♀ But ya know, that was three years or so on from where your mid-ling is, and more often than not it's "kids being kids" and learning the emotional control that comes with growing up.
