There will never be someone as good as Jeff in this world. His voice was so pure, so raw, so emotional and powerful, his lyrics were so true and relatable, his harmonies and melodies were so ethereal. He was truly someone from another plan of existence. He was really one and only...
Denis Willer Jeff NEVER ran out of breath, either. I used to think, surely he can't hit that note toward the end, every single time. Never heard him miss. Astonishing. The only word I can muster with all my triteness, to describe Jeff. You, however, described him perfectly.
right. There had been other singers who touched me deeply (Thom Yorke, Chris Cornell, David Bowie, Lane Staley...) but nonetheless they don't come close to what Jeff & his music does to me. He was so passionate, multifaceted, vulnerable... his yearning... god. Whenever I listen to him I get this feeling in my gut that is SO intense. It feels like anguish and bliss all at the same time. It cannot be put into words, cause it's this otherworldly experience. It is disarmingly beautiful. It leaves me speechless.
Ah Denis,4 years on from this beautiful ode to Jeff,we're still listening to this one off genius.Your comment sums him up better then I ever could. Thanks Denis.
JB was so humorous and upbeat. I remember him getting the tag of 'melancholy ' and may have not accidently drowned being said at that time. This couldn't be further from the truth and those who knew him. He most definately wasn't troubled and unhappy with life as heard at intro. For the Love of BUCK always ❤!
I could have died and felt fulfilled just hearing that live and in person had i been in the studio. It would have been like being in Gods workshop seeing Him craft one of his blessed creatures to perfection and endowing Jeff at this moment the ability to pull from the cosmos what he needed at that moment to share with the world. Im just baffled as to why there is no video of this. Its absolutely the best radio impromptu performance ever.
I grew up with grunge as a teen and with Jeffs music as my alter ego. At the time for me Jeff’s music was not like anyone else’s I heard before - it was as though he was on a totally different path that he’d paved all himself.
I'd give a kidney to be able to sing like Jeff, probably the other one too if I could play guitar like him. Failing that, I'd accept being 20% as cool.
Holy fuck Scary how good that man was. Just jamming his Way through this song, being so confident, effortless and playfull. One of the most difficult songs to Sing and play. I dont Care What genre of Music you play. Tell Me about someone who is at his level. I would love to hear it👍
Amazing! You have the best covers on youtube, hands down. All of them! But especially this one.. until this one I had never heard a Jeff Buckley cover that didn't 100% suck ass. Jeff was the best and you did him justice. Amazing job!
no its a headvoice e5. hes a leggiero tenor so the way he hits the e5 in that particular instance made it soudn like falsetto. but its clearly supported by full voice function.
There will never be another like you.
This guy was genius. he left us too early..
Indeed
"OUR TIME IS SO SHORT
Right before the band starts the announcer says "our time is so short..."
SleighJessi that kills me every time
What a great impression of Costello. He nailed it
kevtruth Ohhhh, I thought for some reason he was talking about Presley... thought it was a bit off, haha
He was a good impressionist actually!

The first time I heard Jeff it shook me to my adolescent core. I put on Grace and cried in bed as I played it over and over. Truly something else.
best acoustic version of this song...
He was spot on in the zone with it..
For sure. This is the 90s stratosphere. How can one deny the power....
Best version for me
can't help but hold my breath through most the 2nd half of that performance.
why
Just can't get enough ..
Jesus he was just amazing
I fall in love with him all over again, every time I hear him speak, sing... shivers every time. RIP sweet angel
A Jeff night. Like astral travel - expansive.
He is the best singer I ever heard
he was out of this world, can't believe than a men like he had ever existed
15 years later and Jeff's music still lives on!
Now 25 ♥️💚💙❤️🩹🤍🕊
Truly poetic voice...
I can't believe this performance is live!! Or any of his performances for that matter lol, he's just that good
Took me months to realize he was talking about Elvis Costello, not Elvis Presley.
John Anastasio same here 😂
I believe that was when he performed Didos Lament...pretty amazing
That was a pretty awesome parody of Costello's voice!
Took me 7 minutes thanks to your comment
Loool

We'll never know. Sometimes people feel like shit but don't want to worry others so they act cool
I really hope he had a happy life tho
He may not have always been happy, but his death was an accident. R.i.p. :(

I won't ever get enough of this :)
I can't stop listening to Jeff since 2006

Spot on impression of Elvis Costello, so funny. God bless you, wherever you are, Jeff...
His Elvis Costello impersonation at the beginning is SPOT ON and sooo funny.. damn, I miss WHFS !
Wow, this just hits so hard.. I don't even know how to explain it..
he has such a pretty voice...
My God, his voice is so godly!
How are those notes even possible to hit?! God bless Scott
Trent Carrig Scott?
Scott Moorhead. He grew up with that name.
Pradipto Dattagupta no he didnt
elninjalaranja he did though.
Yep he did, Scottie Moorhead.
Probably the greatest rock/Grunge singer in the history of music!
He's not grunge just because he was from 90'
I grew up with grunge as a teen and with Jeffs music as my alter ego. At the time for me Jeff’s music was not like anyone else’s I heard before - it was as though he was on a totally different path that he’d paved all himself.
I'd say he's on par with Chris Cornell in all of alt rock (that I've heard). I believe they were good friends too.
Jaw dropping..Wow does he turn into a fucking animal at the end... it's incredible.
Best MTV unplugged that never was. Truly some next level shit compared to,yeah......before, then and now. Musical genious.
Oh, Jeff...
holy fuck, i love this version.
His best live vocal performance.
You should listen to the live at olympia, impressive.
And the Live at NPA 😉 I think it's the absolute best vocal performance I've never heard !!
Best vocal performance.
Greatest musician ever my #1 !
Prince and Stevie Wonder have entered the chat.

Omg... Amazed
Holy s%. I forgot this is acoustic and not the official MV. Mind blown.
5:20 to the end it gets absolutety surreal.

Chiling, isnt it? 👏👏👏👏
shay valany yes, indeed!
yes
Ah, thank you ! That note reminds me a lot of Tim Buckley's (Jeff's father) style, or even a bit of Freddie Mercury tipe of singing
OMG! 😱
omfg!!!!
God damn it
Beautiful parody. . Guy..
I wish there was a high quality WAV for this out there

same here
The intro guitaring is so simple on paper... But nay.
The way it's played is what makes it tricky
the arpeggio bit?
These pulloffs.
yeah i'm learning the intro riff. lol keep hitting dead notes, fingers are to big...
How he plays it with a pick is what blows my tiny mind...
one shawt deal
Fxckin hell.
Does someone know the chords used at the start after the arpegio? Is not the same as the other versions
Yeah it’s just an open d followed by a simple octave played on the 4th fret of the 5th string
Please someone help me with the chords you use in the intro?
Wow, that note in the final is falsetto ?
1:14
Which Costello song was he singing at the begining?
