    Nice work rob. I spent over 30 years restoring. Repairing and painting cars so I can appreciate what your doing. Things sure have changed from the days of laquer paint jobs and lead body work. Keep up the good work and thanks for the videos.. Robert

    Hi Rob and Deb. Thanks A lot for the time and effort to make these educational video’s . I really enjoy watching them, and
    Now I am feeling confident enough to start on my own project, a Opel kadett B , that needs some rust repair on top of the front fender.
    In A previous video you showed exactly how to weld in some new pieces of metal, you really take the time to explain what you do.
    Thanks again and greets from the Netherlands.

    G'day Rob. I remember watching this series. When are we seeing some more progress on this ute... The VY is great advice but it's these old girls that tug at the heart. Keep up the education for us all. 👍

      Hi Mate, at this point in time I just don't have enough days in the week or hours in the days. The Kingswoods and the 34 coupe ute will return to youtube as soon as we can make time for them. The HG's are still sitting at the same stage as we left them, saved for youtube. I currently have five customer restos on the go that are keeping me busy through the week, and are providing our income. As much as I would like to retire and just make videos, the hundred dollars or so that we get a month from youtube doesn't buy much. It take the two of us between twenty and thirty hours to make a hour and a half video, and as we try to gather our footage on weekends, but it doesn't always happen. Please bear with me and as soon as we get the VY out of the way we will back to working on our other projects. I too can't wait for this. Cheers Rob.

      G'day. Thanks for your suggestion. We've looked into Patreon before, and got a bit confused. But we've gone through the process now and set it up. Not sure how it'll go, but any support would be welcome.

    Your video's are always good Rob, you have an amazing amount of patience with cars, I would have been over it after that roof came off the second time lol, but the extra effort defiantly goes a long way

    Just found your contribution-fantastic. I now know why your wearing bifocals. You might think your clever welding without a mask or grinding without tinted glasses but 1 day it will catch up with you. I look forward to watching all your vids👍

    Thanks Rob & Deb, another great video. Like the paint scraper tip, works better than the old hacksaw blade that I've been using for years.

    • @robsshed
      @robsshed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mick. Good to hear from you. It's funny how we get attached to these old things we use for years and years and years. My poor old broken paint scraper wound up being a broken paint scraper, because it was being used for something it wasn't designed for. That was back in the 1980s, but that turned it into a better tool for all these alignment jobs. It also gets used for paint stripping, scratching paint from under the corners of bonnet frames, etc.
      Cheers
      Rob

    Great videos Rob, I’ve got a Hg Ute I’m working on and need to do some welding on it, could you please tell me what set up you use as in wire size etc?

    • @robsshed
      @robsshed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mate. I am using 0.6mm wire in the welder that I use for car panels. If you look back through my videos on TH-cam there is a few dedicated to welding car panels. These start off with the very basics of setting up the machine and work through to welding panels together. Good to hear from you, and good luck with your project. Cheers Rob.

    Did all HK's have that same windscreen?

    • @robsshed
      @robsshed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mate All HK except Monaro have the square top corners. The official word from GMH in 69 was that Kingswood sedan would also have the rounded corners for HT and HG. History has shown that some Belmont sedans wound up with round corners and others had square. It seems as time went by the body shells got mixed up on the assembly line. Cheers Rob.

    What size wire u use

  • @johnhutchinson9714
    @johnhutchinson9714 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I meant HG's, or just the ute?

    • @robsshed
      @robsshed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Officially it was only the Kingswood sedans that had the rounded top corners, and of course Monaros. But their windscreen is not as tall.
      Cheers
      Rob
