Really loved the way you edited this. No constant rambling or voice over. Just the quiet observation of the changes to city and the voices of ghosts from a timeless classic film.
I believe the gas station scene with Twiggy was filmed in the suburb of West Chicago, IL along IL Rt. 59 and May still be there. Also… the nearby West Wind Motel located in Winfield, IL along Rt. 38 is still there.
I love how you have the pack of Chesterfields on the dash of the car and an 8-track tape of the Sam & Dave album playing! Looks like the actual model of the Bluesmobile, too!
Just ran the Chicago Marathon 2022-Great video, it really enhanced my experience! What a great city, the best marathon I've ran so far-mainly because of the crowds and the music! Love The Blues Brothers
Love the video, I was born and raised in Illinois. I'm 2 hours south of Chicago, I've always wanted to go tour the filming locations. I work with a guy that was from Chicago, he mentioned alot of the old wrecked police cars were still there and the mall wasn't demolished yet.
Had only one problem with this The Pinto drop was made in Milwaukee on the 794 unfinished bridge it has been finished and connects down town to0 the south side.
I love those gritty, seedy old buildings (like Elwood's apartment) from the 80s and 90s before so many cities were gentrified with bourgeois condos and big box chains
Great video. Even though I have never actually seen the movie I love Dan Akroyd and John Belushi together. Visited the prison last October - a cool abandoned place. Now I am going to watch the movie for sure. Thanks
Thanks! My son and I are going to do a self guided tour this spring break. Any pro tips on accessing any particularly tricky locations you visited? This was really helpful, great work!
Hi! Depends on how much time you have. I have a map at the end of the page linked above, those spots are not too hard to find. Ray's Music Exchange is no more, there was a fire a while ago. Take a ride in Brian's Bluemobile, it's worth every cent!
Elwood: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses!!!!!" Jake: "Hit it."
Brilliant work, well done! We watched this so much as kids, knew it word for word. Would love to come over and visit these locations myself one day, the Curl Up & Dye building is still there too. Not sure if Bob's Country Bunker is still around. Just a question about the Bluesmobile, did it have a cigarettte lighter? 😁
Some Q&A from the first upload, which is now blocked: Q: What about the Holiday Inn Murph & The Magictones we’re performing at? A: It's now the Quality Inn O'Hare Airport. You'll find it on Google street view, but it looks quite different. I wanted to visit it but had too much trouble with the rental car company at the airport wasting too much time. Q: Did you ever try to see Bob's Country Bunker? A: Bob's Country Bunker was built at the Universal Studios Backlot (Universal City) and demolished after the movie (see comments below)
Well, you got some of them. Places I witnessed them shooting: The routes along Devon and Talcott in Park Ridge, under the El tracks on Van Buren, alley off Adams st. The mall is gone, the south loop dives where their flophouse was modeled is gone...
When my sister & I were in Chicago 3 years ago, we were in Park Ridge, & ended up driving past the funeral home in the movie while heading to a hot dog stand
I chuckled a bit when you showed that you couldn't find a 'SAFE place to park' at 300 E 47th St (Ray's Music Exchange, now Shelly's Loan Company). Wise decision, as it's not very safe at all anywhere in that area.
The main problem was that I booked and payed a cheap, small rental car before, but they refused to give it to me because they said my credit card wasn't working - the same card I already used at Wal Mart and other locations. So I had to get another car, the only one I got was a big, expensive SUV. I had to sign that I didn't park in unsafe locations, whatever that means in Chicago. I never had any problems during that trip, all people where friendly and helpful, except the guy at the car rental. It's a shame that some southern locations in Chicago are not safe at all and gangs are controlling the streets.
Absolut Geil!! Ich fahre selber einen 76er Monaco! So eine Tour durch Chicago wäre echt ein Traum! Hast du die Tour selbst geplant? Argentur? Beste Grüße Olli aus Norddeutschland

I worked security for the production while filming in Park Ridge.......The location of the Shell station and Funeral home is incorrect. It is at Talcott and Cumberland. The park across fron the funeral home was used for parking the cars and equipment during the filming. Gillick at Cumberland was the SCMODS scene and the overhead chase was Talcott-Devon and Courtland Avs.

"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses."
Hit it.
Nice video. cool to see the places where blues brothers was filmed. I have see the movie so much, but still it is the best movie ever...
Its amazing most of these sites can be found in Google Earth and look exactly as they did then.

The gas station is no more, the motel is still there as far as I know.
Gas station was at that location, but it was constructed for the movie. They blew it up but the explosion didn't make the final cut.
Thank you!!! It's been years and I always wanted to know those locations. Thanks for the addresses!
I got out of USN boot camp in Waukegan,in '88.i left Chicago from that bus station.
thank you so much for the great video, i love chicago as always
I love how you have the pack of Chesterfields on the dash of the car and an 8-track tape of the Sam & Dave album playing! Looks like the actual model of the Bluesmobile, too!
It's actually Brian's Chicago Bluesmobile. You can still rent it: www.thechicagobluesmobile.com/
Thanks for this trip :)

Thank you. Inspiring me to make it to Chicago. Can't wait now. Still the best movie ever
Great job

Great job! I live here in Chicago and it was cool seeing all of these locations.
A lot has changed over 38 years after the blues brothers was filmed here
Thanks fantastic
Hello my friend, again and again nice Videos.
I wish a happy Christmas time. Many greetings.
It's never too late to mend.

Thanks! My son and I are going to do a self guided tour this spring break. Any pro tips on accessing any particularly tricky locations you visited?

Good work 👏
Ray's Music Exchange located at 300 E 47th St is no more.
It was destroyed by fire from the riots and looting of 2019.
1060 west Addison I love it!

Timeless
i think the hwy where they did the flip over the pinto was in milwaukee?
Yes, but the free fall was in Chicago
Joliet Prison got rebranded Fox River Prison in the tv series "Prison Break"..
Great stuff! Just one thing. It's Soul Food Cafe, not Sould Food Cafe ...
Yes, a typo. I'm not a native speaker :)
Joe Walsh can be spotted in the finale/Jailhouse Rock scene.
What's the make and model of that 8 track player?
When my sister & I were in Chicago 3 years ago, we were in Park Ridge, & ended up driving past the funeral home in the movie while heading to a hot dog stand
Lemme take a guess that you were headed to SuperDawg hot dog stand, a bit east of there.

You're right, the gas station is at the Cumberland crossing, Devon is nearby and used for the chase. Thanks.
