Nice lesson! Question: You mention you can replace chasse>lock by chasse>chasse or lock>lock. How do you lead this? It seems in the demo the lady does it on her own. There is no movement in torso or hip of the leader at all. However, the couple needs to be synchronised, doesn't it? I would have expected a slight turn to lead from chasse to locks. Or do you just agree beforehand on how to dance? Usually, I favor to lead everything.

Great question, you are correct - lead it. As this video wasn't detailed on lead I can explain briefly. You can keep the lady's feet closed [chasse-to-chasse] by as you said...keeping the hips a bit more closed or in a normal Ballroom position because there is always a slight shoulder lead for locks to allow the lady to cross towards and in front/behind - which is felt from the man's lead. Also in part due to the diagonal movement of the feet which allows for you to control what to lead.
So when you do a normal Pepperpot I always feel the chasse happens as explained above with the cross happening from a slight change in the side of the body to create a cross.
Hope that helps but you're right in saying it's all about the lead and there is a lead in either or, you can agree to figure out what lead which feels best which would be the ultimate recommendation, not agreeing beforehand :)
