As a fighter main yu zhong really got affected by the nerf on defense items which is supposed to reduce their usage for mms and assassins but in the end he just feels softer than before and they also nerf brave smithe yet tho suprisingly he is still playable even after all the nerfs

Most Yu Zhong I see tend to actually prioritize War Axe rather than Hunter Strike since it gives Yu Zhong what he needs which are Hp, Damage, Sustain and CDR. Then followed by Brute Force since he can reliably and easily max out the stacks. It gives him what he wants in early to mid game which are Damage, Sustain and Tankiness.
Festival of blood is very suitable for sustain fighters like yu zhong since the fact that most of their skills uses spell vamp like ruby for example, and adding an emblem like festival of blood can increase the spell vamp so u can last longer in hard clashes plus exp laners are like the shield of your whole team if your team is very squishy
I would recommend to take 2nd skill at level one, to then use it on the minion wave and basic attack your counterpart, it allows you to apply 4 passive stacks instantly.
This is niche but for clearing lane prioritize hitting the siege minion with the edge of your cap, the other 2 will die at around the same time even if you don't hit them with the edge
When using 4th skill you only need to apply 1 or 2 stacks as unless you are escaping or trying to avoid specific cc its useless to stay in dragon mode for the full duration as you may not even cash in the stacks if people walk away. Cancel it early and immediately do the combos If you dont know them they are 1st into 4th skill, exit and 1st skill petrify then second and save 3rd skill for chase or ecape 1st into 4th skill, apply stacks to everyone then try to not exit ontop of them but rather go for a good position to catch them in a 3rd skill petrify Dragon can't really "escape or leave" teamfights - your goal is to trigger passive and use speed boost to get away, use third skill (its kinda slow tho) or just use dragon mode to get away (this is frowned upon)
12:29 - second skill at the lane A niche Yu Zhong feature I have realized is that the more stacks you apply the faster they activate and the sooner his passive is over This means you have to space out your combo sometimes and not immediately use your first - if you think about this when you watch his passive you'll see what I mean
Also build wise oracle just feels so bad with Yu Zhong now, its better to just build a straight defensive item or the queen's wings. With anti heal the increase in regen doesn't feel better at all
Tbh Yu Zhong might actually get knocked out of being meta. His tankiness was hit hard with the def items nerf, and since he isn't getting the tank/fighter treatment like Terizla, he is rather squishy in prolonged team fights. He clearly needs some sorta adjustment, either to his heal or his kit to actually be meta in the upcoming M6.
In my experience YZ can comfortably win against almost all exp laners in early game, except for dyrroth, gatot and terizla. Against dyrroth there's a trick to fight him: when dyr uses the 2nd phase of his 2nd skill, yz should immediately use 3rd skill so that dyr will have to take the knock up effect. Against terizla just make sure to play safe and dodge his 1skill and 3rd phase of his 2nd skill. However against gatot, yz is completely helpless. Edit: against heroes like harley or dyrroth in this match, when you see dyr ults, then use yz ult immediately since when yz transforms he will have dmg immunity in a short while. Similarly when you take harley ult in dragon form you can cancel dragon form early when harley ult is about to explode
As a paquito main, yz can't win against him in the laning phase because of his damage output and from my experience I don't fight yz when he reaches lvl 3 but we fight back again in lvl 4

During Late Game, you're basically free kill but try to stick with teammates.
9:17 I forget the exact timing but if you wait till the last second before your first skill activates and then use your third skill, you can get the 2 stacks and damage increase from the edge of Yu Zhong's first skill and the 1 stack from landing third I do it by feeling but I think there is a certain timing you can find somewhere However this it should be noted this combo should be prioritized only when you aren't going to do a petrify all in combo as it can be risky to be greedy for the 3 passive stacks over catching everyone with at least 1 stack of first skill and a good third skill

When you don't cut lane and just normally lane it's best to upgrade 2nd skill first as you usually win most fights with 2nd skills

[Guide]
1. Most basic combo(es):
Combo 1 (w/Petri):
3 Petri 1 2 (1 activates) BA Ult (if available) and repeat.
Combo 2 (w/o Petri):
1 3 2 1 BA Ult
[You don't have the time to adjust the range of S1 without Petrify since they may just dash out of it hence it's used earlier in this scenario]
2. Rush HS if you can dominate, but rush WA if you can't or are even.
3. Because of the tank item nerf, play YZ like a all round fighter rather than a pure attack enemies no thinking.
4. Try to maintain a range from enemies so they can be in your S3 range. (I once juked a YZ's s3 with Khaleed by suddenly shifting my movement towards him).
5. Battle Spells: Petrify, Vengeance, Purify, Sprint (don't)
6. During Laning Phase, try to lower the enemies HP as much as you can without killing minions using S3, fast stack Sha on targetting minion to then BA the enemy hero. Or just use S1 for the better dmg and CD.
During Mid Game, try to gank Mid Lane or disturb Turtle/Lord fights with ult until allies are available.
During Late Game, you're basically free kill but try to stick with teammates.

I forget the exact timing but if you wait till the last second before your first skill activates and then use your third skill, you can get the 2 stacks and damage increase from the edge of Yu Zhong's first skill and the 1 stack from landing third
I do it by feeling but I think there is a certain timing you can find somewhere
However this it should be noted this combo should be prioritized only when you aren't going to do a petrify all in combo as it can be risky to be greedy for the 3 passive stacks over catching everyone with at least 1 stack of first skill and a good third skill

Yz players said that u should always trigger his passive before or during trading blows, they even level his 2nd skill first
ONLY level your 2nd first if you know you can out damage them.

5:30 my exact problem with YZ, he's so squishy and the Sha Eruption is so tedious. Takes a while to activate too, like just look how many times Beto used his skills, in the end, where's the god damn heal?! I know he's not fully built but bro YZ is so weak in the midgame to lategame, he just gets killed by an MM within 3 seconds while in his own ulti/dragon form...
I know hit passive could work better but even then his own defense is also a problem, not only the nerf on def items but Yu Zhong himself so freaking squishy
