Don’t ever think you wasted your time making this video cuz I LOVE IT that you really got deep into the thing (which I just ordered) which answered all of my questions about future diy servicing. For example, replacing two 18650 batteries that will ultimately die. Keep taking things apart and you will be way out front in the long run. You deserve my subscription.
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
I see why the bass isn't as good as it should be on these. The speaker cavity is too large. The secret to the Bose Mini SoundLink speakers is that the cavity is small and the sealed battery cartridge sits up close to the bass reflex panels. The long throw of the powered speakers compresses the air and pops the reflex panels instead of expanding and losing pressure in a large volume cavity. I bet someone could 3D print an insert to reduce the cavity volume. Liquid epoxy could be used to fill the cavity but difficult to contain and shape.
Hey bud. Looking for details on the charging port. I have one that is missing and i would like to retro fit an external power supply. Do you know what voltages go into the main board from the lower charging dock?
Does it just need a new battery to work again? I’ve got one totally bricked, does nothing other than when I disconnect and reconnect the battery, some of the buttons flash once or twice, and that’s it.

I have a megaboom 3 which may have been placing on the docking charger for lengthy of time. now nothing works. Cannot switch on, reset does not work, no light when connects to the charger. Any idea what could be the problem? I can replace the battery if that could be the problem but I want get more opinions before I order the battery. Hope you can answer me here.
That’s what happened with the Megaboom I used in this video, after I got it replaced through the warranty. Ultimate Ears remotely permanently shut down my device instead of making me return it. So yeah. My opinion is that if you have bought it in the last year, try to get a replacement one through the warranty. If it has been longer than a year, battery replacement might fix it. Also maybe try holding down the power button while connecting it to power.
Also you can perform a factory reset by holding the power button and volume down button at the same time for like 10 seconds. (It may not work, but it’s worth a shot.) (also I’m not sure on the 10 second thing, but it’s around 5-15 seconds)
I try charge it using a portable charge bank. The bank has led flashing when change like normally changing a phone. I also removed the battery and dissembled the battery the voltage shows fully changed. So I discharged the battery cells by connecting them to a fan. Voltage dropped to 6v then I put it back and charge it using the boom circuit. The next day I measured the battery and the voltage back to 7.8v. So it it seems the charging is working but still no light and nothing works.

@@TomHoops04 once it connects to your phone, it connects through the app, and the app, recognizing the serial number, sends a permanent shutdown code to the speaker
Is there an observable difference between the two active drivers? I see that one is labeled "L" and the other "R". Given the first one you took out was not even connected, was that because you dissassembled it previously? Or was it simply not connected from the start?

Well that certainly explains why these Megaboom speakers don’t put out much bass, those drivers look puny! Probably have a really short throw too. A couple of higher quality drivers with a longer throw that could push more air would noticeably improve the bass response on these units.
